K5 - The Home Team and once again, it'll do so. Gray has announced a partnership with UH Athletics to make KFVE, once again, as the flagship station for Univ. of Hawaii sports. 110+ games will be broadcast every year, including all available football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s volleyball, and women’s volleyball games, plus broadcasts of baseball, softball, and women’s soccer. Yep, it'll be a lot. Not only that, a new 24/7 Warrior Streaming Channel will launch, featuring player profiles, classic games, and special programs. This marks a return for KFVE when it used to broadcast UH sports for two decades (under the now KHII signal) and also a return for KHNL when it did so in the 80s when it used to be Independent and later FOX. They replace Spectrum Sports Hawaii (and OC16 to a lesser extent) as the broadcaster of UH sports. https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2026/06/04/hawaii-news-now-selected-official-broadcast-partner-uh-athletics/?fbclid=IwY2xjawSON1VleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA80MDk5NjI2MjMwODU2MDkAAR5226nyTRX5fHUGdoV9TmM5cbMxKjQBU9xIVZreH9cX5hGvIyTM3-Sq8s_XMg_aem_6KagcwuAop5leVUPN2hVqw

Don Delulio has passed away. He spent more time delivering traffic reports for WAVY TV 10 than anyone else. He started with the morning program in 1989 and kept going until his 2007 retirement. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DZH3gB6nSnS/?igsh=b2Vtb3BndmZ5ZzBi

After 45 years in television news, and 40 of those at KPLC Lake Charles, Cynthia Arceneaux is retiring at the end of August. https://www.instagram.com/p/DZI9wbnmtti/?img_index=4&igsh=MXQ1M2RmMzJ0NGR6OA==

She's back, no surprise—a happy ending to this situation after all. I have a feeling Lindsey will end up back on mornings if WTMJ allows it.

And three months to the day after KXLY started to produce those newscasts, MMM started to operate KAYU under an LMA. https://tvnewscheck.com/business/article/kxly-brands-to-operate-kayu-spokane-tery-garras-named-vp-gm/ -
A HUGE loss in the NEPA TV market. Andy Mehalshick, a longtime I-Team reporter and one of WBRE's longest-serving reporters and personalities who has been there since the pre-Nexstar days starting in 1985, has been forced to medically retire (from full-time work at least) after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. He will remain doing part-time work as health allows. 41 years at WBRE. A lasting legacy left behind for this Hazleton native.

I don't think any of us have ever seen Chris Kapostasy (now Jansing)'s final broadcast from WNYT. Thanks to YouTube, it has now been unearthed. 10 days from now (as of this post), it will be 28 years since she left WNYT for MSNBC (now MS NOW). But here's her final 11:00pm newscast from June 12th, 1998, commercials and all. She spent 17 years at WNYT, an amazing, wonderful run with the majority of that time with the now-late Ed Dague (RIP). Ed and Chris together would help make WNYT finally dethrone WRGB in the mid 90s and become the #1 news station in the Capital Region. This also comes two years into WNYT's tenure with Hubbard after being traded away (with WHEC-TV Rochester) by Viacom.

Remember Walter Kelley? The longtime Chief Meteorologist at KCPQ Q13 FOX Seattle? He's back on television, but not in Seattle... but in WPB as WPTV's newest meteorologist. Just in time for the Atlantic hurricane season which began today. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1557388912418686&id=100044427759775

Middle East Comcast's Sky Group is pulling out of its news venture for Sky News Arabia. The name will remain as is, though editorial decisions will no longer come from the Sky Group from now on. https://thedesk.net/2026/06/comcasts-sky-exits-middle-east-news-venture/

Hubbard has been rebranded, but don't be surprised if they get sued by NBC over their new logo. https://radioinsight.com/headlines/355307/hubbard-radio-rebrands/

I thought I'd never see the day. WPSD is kicking off June with a real BANG. 18 years with the old look and all HD references are FINALLY GONE. This comes a couple of months after moving into their brand new building. Welcome to 2026, WPSD.

And here was some of his final moments at "WPMI" (WEAR 3.2).

And barring any problems, we're gonna have to have our recorders up for January 2027 when WSVN debuts from their new facility in Miramar. https://www.miramarflnews.com/news/local/article315923632.html

Until last year, everyone in L.A. started at 4am. I mean everyone, KCBS/KCAL included. Now, they're slowly adopting the Bay Area start time where everyone starts there at 5am (including KTVU which just recently cut their 4am hour, Headlines on 2, as well).

This would be a great opportunity for NBC or ABC to copy the 60 Minutes formula and hire some of those folks to do reporting there. The way CBS is going could make this easy for NBC or ABC to do something like this, IF they want to.

Speaking of, here's their 9am special on their morning news.

WKMG's weekly sports show, After The Whistle (which aired on Saturdays compared to your traditional Sundays) is done after tomorrow night after nine years. It looks like sports coverage is being pared back significantly at WKMG, though not outright eliminated. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1363430102265159&id=100057945466526

Liz's retirement tour at WPEC continued with special appearances from former anchors Suzanne Boyd, Eric Roby, and former sports director Pat Murphy. EDIT: Also, this is not my photo (found via Facebook), but the WPEC studios are now named after Liz. Later today (as of this post), she'll deliver her last newscasts before signing off for good for retirement. If video of such a sign off shows up, you'll see it here.

It looks like WFTV's Skywitness 9 has been grounded permanently, if this new banner from WESH on Facebook is of any indication. From having three news choppers at one point in the market (WESH's Chopper 2, WKMG's Sky 6, and WFTV's Skywitness 9), we're now down to just one. Just for specifics, this is a Bell 206L-4 LongRanger IV.
