My best wishes to Chris Parente, the KWGN Daybreak anchor alongside Spencer Thomas. He announced his cancer diagnosis a few days ago.

Canada The upcoming season, season 28, of BIG Brother on CBS... will be the last season ever aired on Global. Global is moving on from this show after having carried it since its 2000 series premiere. https://globalnews.ca/news/11863358/big-brother-season-28-last-to-air-on-global/

And in advancement of this, WTVQ.com is officially dead. No redirect, no message to send them to the new website, nothing.

After a 45-year career delivering the weather on TV, the last three or so at KXAN, and including a 17-year stop at News 8 Austin, Rich Segal has called it a career. Two things were called into business: His favorite former co-anchor, Jala Washington, stopped by to wish him a fond farewell. They spent three years together on weekend mornings before she left for KXAS. https://www.kxan.com/news/local/austin/end-of-an-era-rich-and-jala-anchor-final-weekend-newscasts-together/ This is where Hannah Gard's next stop will be. She left WVUE New Orleans a couple of months ago, and now she'll be taking over weekend mornings from Rich. https://www.kxan.com/news/local/watch-meteorologist-rich-segals-farewell-message-as-he-begins-retirement/

That would be, but for those who don't use it a lot, such as WTVR Richmond, I like this.

The Takeout on CBS News 24/7 has been looking back at memorable moments from CBS News Radio's nearly a century of broadcasting, and here's a marathon package (90 minutes worth) of those moments.

CBS News Radio has officially died after nearly 100 years in operation. WTOP did carry their final newscasts, and I listened to them live. This YouTuber recorded it, and its here for you for historical preservation. Long live CBS News Radio. RIP.

Sherri was one of those canceled shows this syndicated season, and here was her last episode in full.

Despite already switching to ABC earlier this month, WTOP will carry CBS News Radio's last newscasts at 11:00 and 11:30 p.m. tonight. https://dcrtv.com/wtop-to-carry-final-cbs-newscasts/ DCRTV also has the final edition of the CBS World News Roundup from earlier this morning. https://dcrtv.com/audio-the-last-world-news-roundup/

We will never see television like this again now that Colbert is done. Its the first twenty or so minutes of The Late Show from a rerun that aired on July 29th, 2003. Recorded via WTSP St. Petersburg/Tampa. Dave is being Dave with his usual monologue and funny punchline jokes. An old Goodwrench commercial featuring Stephen Colbert, the alter ego of Stephen Colbert. A promo from WTSP showcasing the Tampa Bay lifestyle and nightlife (WTSP's golden era was during this time, if you ask me). An unsuccessful attempt by Rupert G. (from Hello Deli in NYC) to learn how to waterski, before the video cuts off. Enjoy!

And now we know that all Audacy news/talkers and all-newsers who carried CBS have switched over to ABC today. It will air for the next five years under a new deal. Also, this note from this article... I know its off-topic from this, but that means KCBS San Francisco and KCBS-FM Los Angeles will have to change their callsigns in 11 years. That's from the 2017 sale of CBS Radio to Entercom, now Audacy. https://thedesk.net/2026/05/audacy-cbs-radio-stations-move-to-abc-news/

Now this is what I call unique and innovative. Showcasing the personalities of these talents, what an awesome way of displaying it. Bill and Zach on bikes, Genienne as an in-game host of the Commanders, and Lane hanging out with Charles Barkley and his wife, former WTVR anchor Deborah Cox. IMHO, this is so cool. I don't know why other Scripps stations with these new graphics haven't implemented something like this.

In order to prepare for WNYT's new lifestyle show, the station is saying goodbye to the short-lived third hour of their morning news on their sister WNYA. The last broadcast is tomorrow. https://www.instagram.com/p/DYnF51zjd7G/?igsh=MWt3aXQ3bzhkZXpubQ==

One final FU to the president before the show goes off the air later tonight... The Late Show has auctioned off its memorabilia and raised nearly $2.5 million for World Central Kitchen. Chef José Andrés was there to receive it... in the world's smallest check with the tiniest drumroll. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1358457686187896&id=1451520433683866

Now it makes me question who will carry CBS' last newscasts if Audacy stations are dropping it a day early. Also, it sounds like NBC News Radio is not getting the traction it wanted to get. The biggest beneficiary? ABC. At least it sounds like it. Yes, FOX has a lot of affiliates too but aren't getting the big ones like ABC has.

Keith Cate officially signed off from WFLA last night after a wonderful 26 year run there. He now joins these three other WFLA legends in retirement. These three others make retirement look good. (Not my photo, this is via Jennifer Leigh on Facebook)

This one is really sad. Cynthia spent nearly three decades at KSHB, and was one of the longest-serving employees there. A true figure and legend of Kansas City and championing the city through thick and thin. She will be missed there and I hope other stations will recognize her.

Gray has officially brought back local weather coverage for WTHI, THE right thing to do. Chief once again Kevin Orpurt and Everett Lau are back at it with StormTeam 10.

Temporary once again. "WSB-TV has decided to offer local news until our next program is ready to launch." In other words, the newscast is most likely gone again by September. https://www.wsbtv.com/news/kelly-clarkson-show-moving-late-night-channel-2/FQT2JXALQZAL7OOJUDAMWJENHE/?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwY2xjawR4bp1leHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA80MDk5NjI2MjMwODU2MDkAAR7TiESQVgOzqYsMuD3QfKvdlCI2dLHYlYyej5oA1BZvjLD1XzTbXrYBt_Ousg_aem_MeUUdV1NfUDWyKto1yliIQ#Echobox=1779092576

Don't forget the 13 Weather Ball. Iconic.

Or WRC could've gone the WTVD route and adopt a 2026 version of The Tower produced by a different composer (such as 4 Elements Music in WTVD's case).
-
What a great post for an explanation. Thank you!

NBC knows how to do it right. I'm telling ya.

Cristina Rendon has spent 12 and a half years at KTVU Oakland. On June 13th, however, she will spend her final day there before relocating to Texas to be closer to family. https://www.instagram.com/p/DYbQgQQFZww/?igsh=d2lpMHQ0dTRhNzdk
