NBC knows how to do it right. I'm telling ya.

Cristina Rendon has spent 12 and a half years at KTVU Oakland. On June 13th, however, she will spend her final day there before relocating to Texas to be closer to family. https://www.instagram.com/p/DYbQgQQFZww/?igsh=d2lpMHQ0dTRhNzdk

Canada Céline Galipeau, who in 2009 took over the weeknight anchoring duties for the legendary Bernard Derome (who anchored the program twice in his own right) on Le Téléjournal on ICI Radio-Canada Télé, is expected to step down from anchoring the program in favor of hosting a new international news program for ICI RDI. She'll anchor her last Telejournal on June 18th and then start her new show in September, which will air Friday nights on ICI RDI. Currently, there's no word as to who will replace her on the flagship broadcast. Galipeau has been with Radio-Canada since 1984, 42 years now, and has done Le Téléjournal for 17 of those years. Speculation: I can see Claudine Bourbonnais, anchor of the weekend Téléjournal, getting the main weeknight gig, if she wants it. (French, but I translated the most important details above): https://www.7jours.ca/2026/05/05/apres-17-ans-celine-galipeau-quittera-le-telejournal

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
TheRolyPoly replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
I'm not shocked. Its Sinclair being Sinclair. -
This announcement was made back in March. But today is Rhonda Shelby's last day at KATU Portland after a wonderful 32 year run, having first joined in 1993 when it was still with Fisher Communications.

Andrew Douglas has spent 18 years on WMC's morning news. He finally gets to sleep in a little with a well earned promotion to WMC's afternoon and evening newscasts. Patience sometimes doesn't pay off, but in this instance, it does. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYXDSKtmsbt/?igsh=azN2YmJoYm9vdzZq

Australia After a six-and-a-half year absence, Sports Tonight is coming back home to Network 10, this time as a segment on 10's Late News. It begins next week on the 25th of May with Max Burford and Adrian Franklin. This is the third time the program will be aired on Network 10's airwaves, having first done so from 1993-2011, which gave us the legendary Tim Webster and Leigh Diffey (yes, the same one you now see and hear on NBC Sports today), and then again briefly in 2018 and 2019. https://www.linkedin.com/safety/go/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flnkd.in%2FgtQBDZN8&urlhash=HDNq&mt=fnOh_ocMujx1PRMYdp_AiLqa0z3ad0mCC737vxsIXsb_8xqJeOb6pnyJupgllhOGKCR6bLLbTMi1qjAVd-NA6xswrG6kTxnMcFCPlqUDqNduvAcv8tdAk-p5gA&isSdui=true

CCN is lying. Its NOT available on Android (at least yet). I already have TWC and FOX Weather on my phone, and even The Weather Network and WeatherCAN (Environment Canada's official weather app), but not AccuWeather or WeatherNation. I also have weather apps from WSVN, WFTV, WTVT, and the 1°Outside Weather Network.

I keep finding more news... KRIV's Tom Zizka is unplugging the microphone, as he said, after nearly four decades in the business, and after nearly three of those at KRIV Houston. May 29th is his last day. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1732607697741739&id=1349702960305354

Back to normal programming now after an awesome NBC peacock logo moment there... Mark Holley will soon no longer be Chief Meteorologist at WSAW but will still be at the station as he transitions from the First Alert Weather department to the Sales department. https://www.wsaw.com/2026/05/12/chief-meteorologist-mark-holley-taking-new-role-wsaw/?fbclid=PAT01DUARwfCpleHRuA2FlbQIxMABzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA81NjcwNjczNDMzNTI0MjcAAacO7qunpVpYALUlDDHYnx_Q-X7KvFl58i8oPRwNx90mHwJMEY1_RYVvOeQ3qw_aem_ieWyjSL8OoNxrdUaKvueUA

Today is May 12th, 2026. Tonight is the 40th anniversary of the current NBC peacock logo. One of the most famous broadcasting logos that has ever existed all got started on NBC's 60th Anniversary Special. It has served television greatly since and has become NBC's most famous logo, as it still has staying power after 40 years as of today. For those who don't know, the six feathers represent (at the time of launch) different divisions NBC had. Yellow = NBC News Orange = NBC Sports Red = NBC Entertainment Violet = NBC Stations Blue = NBC Network Green = NBC Productions IMHO, its become my favorite logo in all of U.S. broadcasting, and I love, still to this day, how colorful and vivid the logo looks. Yes, it's had a few moderations and updates over the years, but to me, nothing beats the original. Happy 40th Anniversary to the current NBC peacock logo.

Happy 40th Anniversary!

I already did. I do my best to keep up and find posts like these.

Yep! WRET (for his initials, Robert Edward "Ted" Turner III), which later became WPCQ under Group W, and then WCNC under various owners before today's TEGNA (not Nexstar yet because of court challenges). Speaking of Turner, KVOA got to interview former CNN anchor Lou Waters on Turner's legacy. Waters is happily retired, as you can tell, now living in Southern Arizona.

A CBS News Radio piece on Sunday Morning as its final day is ever that much closer. (btw, CBS News Radio's final day is May 22nd, one day after the last Late Show with Stephen Colbert).

If you ever wondered what Gray's WTVL-CD 49.7 in Chattanooga looked like, since it airs a weather loop there, well... here you go. 49.1 airs Telemundo.

Germany (I'm on my laptop. The Windows emojis don't contain country emojis, whereas my phone's Samsung Galaxy does, which is why there's no country emoji here). Starting in January 2027, public broadcasters ARD and ZDF will be jointly operating their cable/satellite channels, instead of each having its own, to streamline their operations. The channels going away on December 31st, 2026: ARD-alpha, a channel that broadcasts educational programmes including science, religion, music, philosophy, literature, language learning, art, and culture. Some of the programs come from ARD's regional broadcaster in Munich, Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR), as well as from Austria's national broadcaster, ORF. Tagesschau24, ARD's 24-hour national news network. The channel is managed by ARD's regional broadcaster in Hamburg, Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). One, which concentrates on entertainment, and the channel's content is very largely made up of repeat broadcasts of programmes already shown on other ARD channels, national and regional: this includes cinema and television films, drama series, documentaries, reports, magazines, and music programmes (especially rock and pop). This channel is managed by ARD's regional broadcaster in Cologne, Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). The channels that will survive and rebrand starting January 1st, 2027: Phoenix, which will become the main news channel for both ARD and ZDF, replacing Tagesschau24 on the ARD side. ARD and WDR will manage this channel. ZDFneo, which will become simply Neo, a channel for young adults, replacing ARD's One. ZDF will manage this channel. ZDFinfo, which will become simply Info, a documentary channel, replacing ARD-alpha. ZDF will manage this channel as well. Other television channels such as Arte (German feed), 3sat (led by ZDF), and KiKA (led by ARD and its regional broadcaster in Leipzig, Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR)), as well as the streaming service Funk (led by ARD and its regional broadcaster in Stuttgart, Südwestrundfunk (SWR)), will remain as is since they're already operating jointly. Some of this information I got from Wikipedia. https://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2026/03/04/ard-and-zdf-to-close-linear-tv-channels-under-reform-treaty/

KETV Omaha's Samantha Pastorino, the station's weekday morning traffic reporter, will be heading back to work soon after being hit TWICE by two separate drivers in two separate instances back in March. Its a PSA for when you're behind the wheel to PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN. I will never understand why you have to call or text someone while behind the wheel. Its distracting and so irresponsible. https://www.ketv.com/article/omaha-ketv-samantha-pastorino-recovering-crashes/71221607

The goodbyes have begun. This includes a special surprise from some of her former colleagues, including Wendy Rutledge, Claudia Shea, and Chandra Bill, all of whom haven't been seen on WPEC's airwaves in decades.
