I'm glad that KOCO realizes that this is more than just competition and that they can set it aside so that KFOR can mourn one of their own. We don't see it happening this much in Television News, but I will say that KOCO is doing the best move ever. One station helping another out. Its about OKC, not the competition at this point and the stations coming together to help. Bravo, KOCO!I have nothing but respect for KOCO right now. I honestly cried reading this news the first time and I think I'm going to cry again:

Don't forget, she was one of those reporters who was frequently a part of "Making News: Savannah Style" for TV Guide Network while she was at WJCL/WTGS.Have you guys notice that there's a new reporter in the fray?
Her name is Trish Hartman. She previously worked at WJCL/WTGS, WLVT, WNEP and WFMZ.
She's also Update Anchor for The Intelligencer.
I'm not sure if she's a freelancer or an official reporter yet...but She's really good.

T 5/26, W 5/27: Nydia Han
Th 5/28, F 5/29: Alicia Vitarelli
M 6/1, T 6/2: Sarah Bloomquist
W 6/3, Th 6/4, F 6/5: Eva Pilgrim (Fri with Rick at 4pm)
M 6/8, T 6/9: Erin O'Hearn
W 6/10, Th 6/11, F 6/12: Nydia Han
M 6/15: Sarah Bloomquist

I think she'd be perfect for WCBS. After all, you have Lou Young, another beloved NY reporter. My guess is she will go to WCBS unless WABC takes her back to avoid a potential lawsuit.

Wasn't Action News on PHL17, #1 a few weeks ago and under what demographic? A25-54, A18-49 or Total Households? Because if it's A25-54 and/or A18-49, then that doesn't count to me.Just saw a commercial on fox 29 this morning saying that fox 29 news at 10 is beating Action News on PHL17 taking the number 1 slot

Came from WKMG and WFTV, respectively in Orlando. So there's this new reporter Named Kala Rama and Husband Anthony Dilorenzo who join the NY Market and each work at WABC AND WPIX respectively

Who else does editorials? I think WPLG 10 still does, but rarely now.I don't feel like starting a new thread but when I came across the following image from WXII and I BAS was (damn autocorrect) surprised they had different lower thirds compared to other Hearst station. It took me a minute and realized that for some odd reason they are using the header graphic for their lower third.
The image came from this

Well there you go. That sounds like a high chance clear move that Fred is moving to Gannett/Tegna's WCNC NBC Charlotte. His last three twitter follows were Bill McGinty, Michelle Boudin and Dianne Gallagher, all 3 from WCNC

It's valuable on ESPN2, since ESPN rather have SportsCenter there. Besides, it's been on ESPN2 since 2006 and ESPNews before it in 2004.Mike and Mike is a must-carry show for ESPN Radio affiliates (a few stations don't carry it, most notably WPEN-FM; ESPN purchases time on WTEL 610 to clear it).
So even with the show being on ESPN2, it's always been a cross-promotional tool for ESPN Radio.

I know I'm answering to myself, but it's because WAAY 31 is using NPG's ABC affiliates' graphic packages. I don't know why tho since WAAY 31 is owned by Calkins Media, not NPG.Why does that graphics package remind me of KRDO 13?

not bargin. And, without removing the heart from WBIR's logo. It's been synonymous with the station since the Mid 80's, just like WMAZ's heart in its logo.Yes, alot of Gannett stations do need some new logos that have been around for several decades. However, W*USA, KTHV went to the bargain basement of logos. WXIA, KSDK, WUSA, KXTV WTLV/WJXX, WBIR could use a refresh logo makeover for those stations.

I say WNCN because WRAL already has David Crabtree and Gerard Owens to fill all their afternoon and evening newscasts.Fred Shropshire announces his departure from WTVD effective Friday. No station/city announced publicly except that he will be a main anchor at "another station", which leads me to believe he'll be staying in the Triangle.

My predictions:
Sarah takes over the 4pm, Sundays go solo with Walter again.
Monica remains at 5pm as either Alicia or Sharrie takes over at 10pm
Eva and Tamela will remain in their roles. Keep Tamela in the mornings, their chemistry works there.
But nothing matters when Jim Gardner is still your Action News anchor at 6 and 11pm.

Because SportsCenter has been around since forever on ESPN, whereas Mike and Mike... only since 1998. They see SportsCenter as more valuable than Mike and Mike.Off-topic but why doesn't Disney move Mike and Mike to the main ESPN channel instead? I know it probably gets less viewers than Sportscenter but it will make Mike and Mike more of a household name in the ESPN family. But, I'm glad that at least GMA and M&M will be able to collaborate and even have an occasional tie-in thanks to this move to Times Square.

Get ready to see KITV 4 run down to the ground. I don't like this move.Hearst will be selling KITV/Honolulu and their satellites to one-time KHON owner SJL.

So now on weekdays, SportsCenter will be LIVE from 7:00 a.m.-1:00 a.m. (7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on ESPN - including the new 7:00-9:00 a.m. block, 3:00-6:00 on ESPNews, 6:00-7:00 on ESPN, 7:00-11:00 p.m. on ESPNews and 11:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m. on ESPN - including the new midnight block and the same 1:00 a.m. block from Los Angeles.)

It is boring, other than the WOAI/KABB merger which slowly continues to merge together... very slowly. That's all that's going on in my boring market right now.

According to TV listings, WZVN eliminated their 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. newscast and has replaced it with Extra at 5:00 and The Insider at 5:30 p.m. That just leaves WZVN with weeknights at 6:00, 7:00 and 11:00 p.m., aside from their weekday morning newscasts at 5:00, 6:00 and 9:00 a.m.WZVN must have elimnated their 5 pm news cast cause they only have the 6 and 11 pm news cast
Also, WINK moved their 6:30 p.m. Sunday newscast to 6:00 p.m. to allow a separate newscast at 6:30 p.m. for WXCW.

Very sad to hear. Since I live in South Florida, we just lost a giant. She was stellar and charming. We will miss her a lot around here.Sad new out of South Florida, former WSVN and WPLG anchor/reporter Kelley Mitchell has died. Mitchell passed away at her home last night; the cause
of death is unknown. More recently, Mitchell was an afternoon anchor at WLRN Radio until January of this year. After parting ways with the station, Mitchell
filled in at WIOD Radio which put her back at the same station with 90's WSVN co-anchor Rick Sanchez.
Mitchell survived by her husband Kirk Wade (WSVN Chief Photographer). TVNT would like to offer our payers and condolences to our friends at WSVN & WPLG
at very difficult time.

Well then... looks like Chicago has died.Looks like we really need the cold front that's about to move through.

One of the best from WBAL-TV and one of the best from Baltimore. He's in that Jerry Turner, Al Sanders, Jeff Barnd, Stan Stovall, Vic Carter, Denise Koch-kind of list.Legendary Baltimore news anchor is stepping down. Rod Daniels of NBC station WBAL-TV is is saying goodbye to WBAL 11 News after more than 30 years
on the air, Daniels will anchor his last 6:00 newscast two weeks from today. No word on who will succeed Daniels from the anchor desk.
We at TVNT wish Rod Daniels the very best in his future endeavor.

One of the best and we'll miss him here at TVNT.

No because KPLC is licensed to Lake Charles and most of their news is focused on Lake Charles. What's going to happen to KPLC, will they lose the NBC station?

But doesn't Hubbard already own stations in New Mexico, Duluth, MN; Albany, NY and Rochester? I got confused by what you said.Hubbard Broadcasting for example (except for KSTP and it's satellites and KSTC which can all go to Meridith), could net them markets in New Mexico, Duluth, MN/Superior, WI, Albany, and a return to the Rochester market if they buy said company. They could also buy Griffin Communications which could net them the OKC and Tulsa markets as well as KFMB in San Diego if they wanted to.
I know they don't own any in OKC, Tulsa and San Diego and I can see Hubbard owning KFMB if Midwest Television, Inc. decides to see it, but I don't see Griffin selling KWTV/KSBI, nor KOTV/KQCW, anytime soon.
-
Probably not, since Griffin started KWTV in 1953 and has been the owner ever since.I noticed that WZZM's holdings company is Combined Communications of Oklahoma and it hit me. Wouldn't it make sense if Gannett/Tegna bought Griffin Communications in Oklahoma (which has KWTV and KSBI in Oklahoma City as well as KOTV and KQCW in Tulsa)?
