More astonishing is that the station was still using the WeatherPlus brand.

WJXX 25.2 ("First Coast News Weather Plus") and KPNX 12.2 ("12 News Weather Plus") will still have the WeatherPlus brand after the WVIR 29 change.

  2.

Looks like NBC affiliate KPRC in Houston has expanded it's 11 am newscast to 12:30 pm being the only station in the Houston area to offer 90 minutes of news midday:

    http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2015/03/kprc-2-launches-noon-newscast.html

That's great, except I reported this first, like last month. I thank KPRC reporter/investigator Jace Larson on Twitter for it: https://changingnewscasts.wordpress.com/2015/02/10/kprc-ready-to-add-noon-news-starting-march-30th/

Speaking of KMID, when is BIG 2 going to wake up and revamp its image and adding newscasts? Their morning, 5 & 10PM news don't make much sense, they used to be powerhouse and but not no more.

KMID 2 is just 5:30-7:00 a.m., weeknights at 5:00 and 10:00 p.m. and Sundays at 10:00 p.m. That's it. Nothing more. KOSA 7 and KWES 9 produce double more, the amount of local news coverage than KMID 2.
  4.

I think it started later than scheduled. Didn't NCAA basketball run late causing the whole Sunday prime time lineup and news to start late?

Yes. It started at 7:17 p.m., instead of 7:00 p.m. So WCBS had to start at 11:17 and finish by 11:47 p.m.
  5.

I think you're right. WIVT only produces one newscast at 6:00 which is repeated at 11:00 and WIVT still does not have a weather department, instead having taped forecasts from WSYR. Nexstar probably thought that WIVT is in such awful shape that it would be cheaper buying another station to assume an existing news department instead of basically starting a new one from scratch.

I thought they did two at 6:00 and 11:00 p.m., just like how WICZ 40 only does news at 6:00 and 10:00 p.m.

Not sure if it's been mentioned anywhere here but Let's Ask America is not returning next season:

    http://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/syndication-and-distribution/scripps-lets-go-lets-ask-america/139088

Wonder what will replace it: more news? More RightThisMinute? Actual viable syndicated programming?

Hopefully more news on WPTV where it airs "Let's Ask America" after the noon news. And also hopefully more news at noon on WXYZ, so that they can put Right This Minute at 7:00 p.m. on WMYD 20.

  7.

    Channel 6 = WTVJ = NBC

    Channel 4 = WFOR = CBS

I think you got a little confused.

No. He means that CBS may be the reason that Adam Kup is being pushed out since Adam Kup hosts an afternoon show on 560 WQAM and that radio station is owned by CBS. Nothing confusing about affiliations but CBS may be behind all of this, unless if 'TVJ decides to keep the Kup.

  8.

Possible changes coming to NBC owned WTVJ in Miami:

    http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2015/3/18/anchor-shake-up-to-hit-miami-station

Basically it says moving Jawan Strader from mornings to evenings and hiring a new person to take over for the weekday mornings. No word on what will happen with current weeknight anchor Adam Kuperstein.

Wow. I didn't know what WTVJ was that bad in the evenings. They sound like they are in 3rd place since barely anybody watches WFOR. I guess its WSVN at #1 vs. WPLG at #2 for local news ratings in my home market.
  9.

Break out your violins: KTXD Dallas's "The Broadcast" ended on Friday. The rumor is that other local programs on the station could face the ax soon.

It's about time. KTXD 47 has never been good in terms of local programming. if they seriously wanna be good, then a full (and traditional, unlike how WJZY started) news department would be in order.
  10.

... At that point, I think it would also make sense to shorten the 6pm to a half hour. Just my thoughts!

Why if they already air NBC Nightly News at 7:00 p.m. ? Plus, the other pre-emption they have is Days of our Lives at 12:00 Noon, instead of 1:00 p.m.

  11. It looks like WWCW 21/WFXR 27 are planning to not only move to a bigger house, but to also air its newscasts in-house. According to Roanoke.com, the stations would ditch the news partnership with WSLS 10, in favor of producing its own newscasts. WSLS 10 has aired a 10:00 p.m. newscast for WFXR/WWCW (WJPR at the time) since 1996 and the 2-hour weekday morning newscast since 2012. So "Local 21/27 News" or "FOX 21/27 News" perhaps? Remember, the stations are owned by Nexstar.

    Here's the story from Roanoke.com: http://www.roanoke.com/business/news/roanoke/roanoke-s-fox-plans-big-changes/article_11c613d7-ee5e-5e30-8466-2fb0a18f5c23.html

WFOR morning anchor Rhiannon Ally & her husband WSVN afternoon/evening anchor Mike Marza leaving Miami and heading back home to Kansas City:

Never like Ally as much as I liked Marza. He was well good and I'm sad to hear that he's leaving. I'll miss him for sure because I thought he was a good anchor.

  13.

According to Sophia Choi (WSB) Starting March 1st, GMA will be airing on Sunday mornings now from 8-9am on WSB, currently WSB shows a 4 hour block (7-11am) of local news on Sunday mornings.

That means there will be no local news at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings in Atlanta, since FOX 5 still airs The Georgia Gang at that timeslot after Good Day Atlanta at 8:00 a.m. on Sundays.

  14.

The country's first black-owned TV station will be honored with a historical marker at its former studios.

The marker will be for WGPR-TV, which apparently also has a highly active historical society. WGPR-FM 107.5 also broadcast from the site until the Freemasons opted to LMA it out to Radio One in 2011.

As we should all know by now, that station was sold to CBS in 1994 and became WWJ-TV to match AM sister station Newsradio 950 WWJ.

  15.

Only the noon show at PPL Center? That stinks! Wish they'd picked 5 or 6.

KCRA 3 did their noon news from a mall in Downtown Sacramento. WXYZ 7 is scheduled to do the news at noon from a future Downtown Detroit hotspot. It's kinda common out there that the noon news is sometimes done from a different location, other than the main studio.
  16.

WISN has launched a new image campaign called "Where will 12 News take you tonight?"

Sounds like something that WCPX 6 (now WKMG) used to do in the 90s. "Channel 6 News... Where will we take you tonight?"
