In the Miami market, WJAN-TV has lanuched it's 7am newscast presented by Luisiana Rios (She's still anchoring the 11pm newscast on this station).

the second Spanish local newscast at 7:00 a.m. after Noticias 23 al Amanecer en UniMas Miami (WAMI 69). Unfortunately, this new newscast is also an hour-long and its called "Arriba America," obvious with its name-sake.

Interesting. I wonder if WKYC will do likewise.

They probably would if they see that Dr. Phil is doing terrible in the ratings. But remember, WKYC 3 has LIVE on Lakeside at Noon that's only half-hour. They have no "pay for play" program, unlike Atlanta and Company on WXIA. They have Rachael Ray at 11:00 a.m., LIVE on Lakside at Noon and NBC Kids E/I programming at 12:30 p.m.

Also unlike WXIA 11 when Dr. Phil was airing twice, WKYC 3 only airs the first-run episodes at 5:00 p.m., so finding a replacement hour can be hard unless they replace Family Feud and Celebrity Name Game (3 and 3:30 p.m. respectively) or the soon-to-be-canceled Queen Latifah Show at 2:00 p.m.

Recently saw that they finally changed their weather graphics and the StormCenter sting to have the newest AccuWeather logo, instead of the old one. Promos and 69.2 are still using the old logo for now, though.

69.2 has the new AccuWeather logo

What really makes it interesting is that KEVN does not have any subchannels. So that theory is out the window...

For those not aware of the market, here's the rundown:

NBC: KNBN (channel 21; brands as "NewsCenter 1")

CBS: KCLO (channel 15; a satellite of KELO in Sioux Falls)

ABC: KOTA (channel 3; the #1 station in the market by far)

    Fox: KEVN (channel 7)

The CW: KWBH-LP (sister to KNBN; broadcasts on 21.2)

MyNetworkTV: secondary affiliation on KNBN's .3?

Maybe they take the MyNetworkTV affiliation for K23KK?

KOTA is #1? Wow. That surprises me. I thought KCLO (a.k.a. KELOLand) would be #1, thanks to its satellite station coverage.

Starting January 12th, XETV will launch a 4pm newscast with Jim Patton and Neda Iranpor anchoring and Sabrina Fein weather.

how long is the newscast? Half-hour or a full-hour?

So can you safely say that the MLS is here to stay rather than just bouyed from attention of the world cup and summer olympics even amongst the casual observers? Orlando has a soccer club and from what i've read Miami would soon get one too, thanks in part to the backing of Mr. Beckham. It seems like certain places you never thought would have a MLS club do.

Miami used to have an MLS club, but folded in 2001 (Miami Fusion F.C.)

  7. John Wilson at WTVT (recently retired)

Gene Cox at WWBT/WRIC (retired as well)

    Jack Williams at WBZ (retired)

    John Drury at WGN/WLS (deceased)

    Monica Pearson at WSB (retired)

Tom Wills at WJXT (still working at 5, 6 and 10pm)

    Roger Grimsby at WABC (deceased)

Jim Vance at WRC (still working at 6 and 11pm)

    Tim Taylor at WJW (retired)

Mike Landess at KMGH (now at KYTX in Tyler)

Just a few more people when I think of TV newscaster legends.

    Sinclair's /KSNV - Cuts Nightly Political Show:

The station was news heavy, but seems like Sinclair gutting alot of shows, and do wonder if Sinclair plan to buy any syndication shows? Days of Our Lives will probably go back at 1pm on 3.

    In it's place, a brand new 6:30 p.m. local newscast starting December 15th: https://changingnewscasts.wordpress.com/2014/12/02/ksnv-go-live-630-las-vegas-starting-december-15th/

Didn't WTVJ have a seperate Spanish-language newscast back in the 1960s?

They did with Manolo Reyes, back in the '60s when WTVJ was still with CBS on Channel 4. I still think it had its primary newscasts in English though, thanks to the Dean of South Florida television news, Ralph Renick.

  10.

Kai Jackson will be replacing Jeff Barnd for all of Fox 45's, WBFF, afternoon late evening newscasts starting January 19 at 4,5,10 and 11 PM. Kai Jackson will start at WBFF on air beginning January 4 after his non compete expires. Jeff Barnd will become Sinclair's Washington based national correspondent while Jennifer Gilbert will remain co anchor.

(Cross posting to Sinclair Broadcast Thread)

And just by reading this accordingly, WBFF's new 4:00 p.m. newscast will start on January 19th, pushing back a week from the original January 12th start.

  11.

Not bad for the market size. Is WORA the first affiliate of any Big Four network to have flagship non-English newscasts?

Idk about this one, but WTHR used to do a 10-minute newscast for Spanish speaking viewers called Acanale 13 Eyewitness News en Espanol. It was for online viewers. Not sure if your talking about 100% television though.
