  1. I know this might sound stupid because its not likely to happen, but if for whatever reason, TEGNA decides not to renew its affiliation agreement with ABC in 2018 for most, or even any of its stations, how are they going to manage that? This would be especially problematic for WFAA with the other big 4 affiliates being O&Os of their respective networks, and the only way for affiliation switch to be possible would be for either NBC or CBS to sell their stations to ABC, which in itself is unlikely to happen (TXA 21 becoming a CW O&O is more likely to happen). And I wonder about TEGNA's other ABC affiliates if that happens. Like I said though, I think its an unlikely scenario.
  2. I think you meant to spell it as TEGNA not TENGA (the confusion is still around, but that's a different topic), and I agree with you on that one. CBS should either invest in WJZ for once with a new set and new graphics or sell it off to TEGNA (I would say they could sell WJZ to Tribune, but buying it would put it over the cap).
  3. I wish, but no because the line of scrimmage is an invisible line and only appears in broadcasts of football games. Hasnt stopped commercials from featuring someone lifting the line of scrimmage and putting it farther back
  4. KBMT just overhauled its website, now its only KIII, KXVA, and KIDY that's left that are still in the WorldNow format
  5. CBS in general makes the best sets out of any O&O group in its markets (except WJZ, but that doesnt count)
  6. Even so, that doesnt help much
  7. Now I know a major reason, or at least I have an idea as to why WBBM sucks. CBS wont let them break in even if it means alerting people of a tornado coming their way.
  8. Wouldn't the only time they'd ever break in be for breaking news? And what'd they break in for that CBS themselves made them re air the entire primetime lineup?
  9. I've seen them do better than that. If they have updates to last night's content, I'm fine with that, but repeated content with no updates, there's the exact problem you just mentioned, which by the way, I completely agree with you on that. If they're going to keep going, they can't just recycle the same content from last night, or else they might as well hand it over to the affiliates for the 5:30 pm local news (or 6:30 pm in the Colonial Time Zone, which is my name for the Eastern Time Zone) much like Fox does with its affiliates
  10. Then again, not everything digital needs a permit to own either.
  11. Since CBS is either spinning off its radio stations, or selling them altogether, they should expand CBS Local to include the rest of the NFL markets that they don't already have in there, and add in live streams of non-O&O stations that CBS Local covers, news only of course. And like it is with NewsOn, its up to the stations to decide whether or not they want to live stream their news on CBS Local.
  12. I already mentioned that, but what about KAGS? Will it get a new logo too, or just retain its current logo? And I might have to ask the same thing about KIDY.
  13. What kind of overhaul? An update to their current website layout (Gannett-TEGNA), or a new one altogether? Also, speaking of overhauls, I saw what could be KCEN's new logo on google play, so does that mean that it will recieve a change in logos? And will any other TEGNA station that hasn't gotten a new logo in 2 decades get a new logo anytime soon?
  14. And then Los NiƱos and Los Adultos!
  15. Or if Tegna will keep their current theme or not, nor do we know if they decide to make a complete graphics overhaul like they did a few years ago or pull a Fox O&O graphics update (as in, making a graphics overhaul while keeping some of the same elements, including, but often not limited to, same colors and patterns)
  16. Are you saying that TEGNA commissioned Steven Arnold for the package?
  17. About there being a few mega-broadcast corps, even cable companies are doing this (especially charter with time warner which was going to be bought by comcast before it and time warner called it off)
  18. Why does everyone assume that ABC will sell any of their stations?
  19. That's what everyone in the media industry said about Sinclair and Albritton
  20. I always had hoped that ABC would buy Scripps, or at least most of it (or it would go over the cap if they bought all of it) and I sort of always had advocated it, but couldn't really do much since like most of us, I assume, I hadn't been involved in the stock market (because I'm not rich nor particularly powerful) or known any media insiders, or rather, I personally don't (unless you count everyone here at TVNT, and even then, what impact has TVNT had on the media industry?). And sinclair can't buy ABC, because they're already capped as is
  21. And I still think the only way to save most of the scripps stations at this point is by selling them to ABC, and I had to clarify that I meant most because they'd have to divest some stations or they'd end up over the 39% cap. But as much as I want it to happen I doubt it will anytime soon seeing as how Scripps has to cut costs, or do they?
  22. But they don't normally want to sell.
  23. And he would've, you guessed it, take over the world!
  24. Better yet, Nicholas Cage is a vampire trying to, you guessed it, take over the world! But in all seriousness, the Bryan's days of journalism are over, as will many other family owned news media businesses be (unless one counts Sinclair Broadcast Group as such)
