1. Gotta love Gardner!
2. Sports reporter Lesley Van Arsdall posted a Facebook video last night. It was mentioned that Lauren Casey would be handling the weekday evening weather duties while Kate Bilo is on maternity leave. Kate's due in the next 2 or so weeks. Lauren said that Chelsea Ingram (most recently from Baltimore) would be taking the weekend evening weather shift.
3. Quadcopter 69 is a drone. There's more info about it posted in this thread on page 8, beginning with post # 147, by Mrknowitall526.
4. Mike Jerrick returned from rehab today. He explained his ordeal, too. They also added a couch to the set, which I hope they keep. It makes the set seem more casual and comfortable.
5. Kate Bilo's going out on maternity leave soon, so Matt may be filling in.
6. Charlie Rose is going to be out until sometime in March after undergoing heart surgery. Best wishes to Charlie for a speedy recovery. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/a-note-from-charlie-rose-cbs-this-morning/
7. Chs 3, 6, and 10 are starting their morning news at 4AM Thursday to cover the snow. Ch 29 normally starts at 4, but tomorrow they're starting at 3:30AM to get the jump on all the important news at that hour. I wonder if that extra half hour will affect the February ratings book?
8. It's re-airing at 6:30PM on Sunday, Jan 8.
9. Sheena's last day is Friday. Set your DVRs.
10. I just saw a commercial for a WFMZ 40th anniversary special to air on Thanksgiving (11/24) at 6:30 PM.
11. I'm not sure if this was mentioned before, but ABC News/GMA was "caught" staging a crime scene earlier this week. http://www.miamiherald.com/latest-news/article112625983.html
12. It could have been worse. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2016/10/24/charlotte-station-cancels-newscast
13. Morning anchor Chris Murphy is moving to San Diego. His last day on Fox 29 is Sept 30. Adweek had mentioned it last week and Chris confirmed on his Twitter account today.
14. Looks like she's been hired full time to do weekend weather. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/erika-martin-joins-philadelphia-station/178727
15. When they came back on, Rick Williams mentioned the cause was due to a computer malfunction. I wouldn't be surprised if their ratings were still higher than the other locals during the outage.
16. She's going to be a sports reporter in New England. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/real-time/Kacie-McDonnell-joins-New-England-sports-channel.html
17. Tonight's Eagles/Bucs game is on Comcast Sportsnet cable and COZI-TV OTA sub-channel. I realize NBC10 has to show the Olympics, but I wonder what the Eagles fans that don't have cable and don't know where to find COZI-TV are doing tonight. It's only a pre-season game, but I'd think that some might be upset about not being able to watch it or find it easily.
18. Not specifically related to Action News, but WPVI's Captain Noah passed away today at 90. He was a long time children's TV host. http://6abc.com/family/philadelphia-tv-pioneer-captain-noah-dies-at-age-90/1463028/
19. Sports anchor Howard Eskin is leaving Fox 29 in September to give more time towards Eagles coverage on WIP. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/real-time/Howard-Eskin-ends-second-stint-with-Fox-29.html
20. Jim Gardner is taking a 3-4 week leave of absence to have surgery on his arm/bicep. He explained it on the 6PM news earlier. http://6abc.com/news/video-jim-gardner-explains-medical-leave-/1457589/
21. Man, between the double graphics error and an extra 3 minutes of news, I wonder if some NBC10 employee might be looking for work soon.
22. One of the issues I had with it was if I missed it, they would not put it on the website. Viewers would ask about that and CBS3 would reply that they wanted people to watch the actual news program and wouldn't be putting it on the website right away.
23. I haven't heard anything. His twitter account doesn't mention anything. I did notice he wasn't on the LV Iron Pigs broadcast on Saturday. Maybe he's just on vacation. Not related to Bryan or sports, but I did notice two new reporters this week---Jim Vasil and Alexandra Hogan.
24. They also cut off during the O'Jays portion of the concert to switch to the NBC Macy's fireworks show at 8PM. In previous years, the concert would end around 10PM, with Philadelphia's fireworks right after. By the way, Hurricane Schwartz got some new wheels--Storm Ranger. 25. 6ABC introduced a new reporter yesterday, Jeannette Reyes, formerly of Washington, DC.
