  1. Not specifically related to Action News, but WPVI's Captain Noah passed away today at 90. He was a long time children's TV host. http://6abc.com/family/philadelphia-tv-pioneer-captain-noah-dies-at-age-90/1463028/
  2. Sports anchor Howard Eskin is leaving Fox 29 in September to give more time towards Eagles coverage on WIP. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/real-time/Howard-Eskin-ends-second-stint-with-Fox-29.html
  3. Jim Gardner is taking a 3-4 week leave of absence to have surgery on his arm/bicep. He explained it on the 6PM news earlier. http://6abc.com/news/video-jim-gardner-explains-medical-leave-/1457589/
  4. Man, between the double graphics error and an extra 3 minutes of news, I wonder if some NBC10 employee might be looking for work soon.
  5. One of the issues I had with it was if I missed it, they would not put it on the website. Viewers would ask about that and CBS3 would reply that they wanted people to watch the actual news program and wouldn't be putting it on the website right away.
  6. I haven't heard anything. His twitter account doesn't mention anything. I did notice he wasn't on the LV Iron Pigs broadcast on Saturday. Maybe he's just on vacation. Not related to Bryan or sports, but I did notice two new reporters this week---Jim Vasil and Alexandra Hogan.
  7. They also cut off during the O'Jays portion of the concert to switch to the NBC Macy's fireworks show at 8PM. In previous years, the concert would end around 10PM, with Philadelphia's fireworks right after. By the way, Hurricane Schwartz got some new wheels--Storm Ranger. 8. 6ABC introduced a new reporter yesterday, Jeannette Reyes, formerly of Washington, DC.
  9. They also have Karen Thomas,Violeta Yas, and Michelle Grossman, who seem to rotate weekend shifts.
  10. TVSpy's reporting that WCAU has hired a new weekend meteoroligist, Krystal Klei. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/wcau-adds-weekend-morning-meteorologist/172078
  11. Kathy Orr did "Orr Down The Shore" from Wildwood on her 5 & 6 PM newscasts tonight.
  12. Good Day is doing their show from Ocean City, NJ this Friday and Wildwood one Friday in July.
  13. Reporter Walt Hunter is retiring later this month. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/entertainment/television/Walt-Hunter-retires-from-CBS3.html
  14. I was watching the live stream earlier and just turned it on now during the 5PM news. Alex and some guests are sitting off to the side near the window whispering. You can hear the regular news anchors doing the news in the background. If anyone wants to watch:http://www.fox29.com/20hours
  15. Sports reporter Pat Gallen is being added to the morning show as a feature reporter. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/entertainment/Pat-Gallen-joins-CBS3-morning-show-full-time.html
  16. If the set they're using today is their new set, it looks a lot like their old set. Plus, they're still using the up-close camera shot on the anchors. I like the Friday night anchors (Dawn/Chris), but not enough to see their nosehair.
  17. Former NBC10 meteorologist Doug Kammerer is filling in on NBC10 today.
  18. Erika von Tiehl leaving CBS 3. Jim Donovan & newcomer Brooke Thomas to anchor mornings. http://mobile.philly.com/beta?wss=/philly/blogs/entertainment&id=370525851
  19. The link I posted from FTV actually said they were interviewing candidates for "co-anchors", so it may be Erika and the new person together.
  20. I always liked Mary Stoker Smith, who anchored weekend evenings. Wikipedia says she left CBS 3 in 2009, but doesn't say why. I believe Chris May was originally hired to be her weekend co-anchor. I also thought Anne-Marie Green was good, but she left on her own to go to CBS national news.
  21. Don't forget about Susan Barnett. Was there ever a final explanation of her departure?
  22. FTVlive reporting that CBS 3 has been interviewing candidates for morning anchors--the latest being Tracye Hutchins from Atlanta. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/1/25/atlanta-anchor-auditioning-in-philly-today
  23. Sportscaster Troy Hein announced via twitter that he's leaving WFMZ next week to work for the CBS affiliate in Waco, TX.
  24. They also have this, by the way. Maybe it's for the parking lot on "First Alert Weather Days".
