  1. Scott Williams won a MidAtlantic Emmy for weather anchor Saturday night. Also, I believe Kathy Orr debuts tonight at 11PM on Fox 29 after the Prime Time Emmys.
  2. I thought I'd seen him him earlier in the week, and going by his twitter page, he was on the show Monday & Tuesday. I guess I hadn't noticed him being off later in the week.
  3. According to Philly.com, Scott will do the 6PM newscast. http://www.philly.com/philly/entertainment/celebrities/20150917_Sunshine_on_the_radar__Meteorologist_Kathy_Orr_goes_to_Fox29.html Note the article says the announcement was made with a short statement. Actually, they made a big announcement, as Good Day teased a big announcement all morning and finally brought Kathy out from behind a curtain. Everyone hugged her and I think Jerrick even kissed her on the cheek. I don't think Bob Kelly was there, though, strangely.
  4. Kathy Orr has joined Fox 29 to do weather on their 5 and 10PM newscasts. http://www.fox29.com/news/20403990-story
  5. Whatever happened to Drone-6? They hyped it up in May and I don't think I've seen it since.
  6. CBS 3 names Margaret Cronan News Director. She worked at the station in the 90s as a producer. http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/88288/margaret-cronan-named-kyw-news-director
  7. Don Bell, who was on CBS3 from 2005-2010, has been hired as their new sports director. He starts on Sept 13. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/pattisonave/Don-Bell-returns-to-CBS3-replace-Beasley-Reece.html
  8. I did notice that Brittney and Michelle flipped shifts, but is it permanent? I've seen them flip back and forth between shifts over the past few months. I don't even think Michelle was on this past weekend and Brittney did morning and evening weather. I thought Michelle had left the station last year to be with her family. Now she's back... and working a lot?
  9. The TV listings starting Sept 14 show "The Fab Life" on at 2PM, replacing Millionaire and Jeopardy. No changes to the 6ABC hour long 12PM news or any other shows. I know everyone's been waiting since July for this news.
  10. This was posted on Cecily's Twitter page for Throwback Thursday.
  11. This is not just about 6 ABC, but there's a new book out that has lots of info and pictures on all of Philadelphia TV and its history. It's called "Philadelphia Television, Images of America". Local Barnes & Noble has it, as does Amazon online. Not sure I'm allowed to post a link, but this shows some of the pictures. It's a small preview of the whole book. You have to scroll down. https://books.google.com/books?id=hqX0CQAAQBAJ&pg=PA6&lpg=PA6&dq=Philadelphia+Television+%28Images+of+America%29&source=bl&ots=d1KLQd781w&sig=l6khYoMQQYMCL_siC26Jwm1-FpI&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CFIQ6AEwDGoVChMIseiX4IesxwIVAvaACh15xAfD#v=onepage&q=Philadelphia%20Television%20%28Images%20of%20America%29&f=false
  12. Kyla Grogan, who was on The Weather Channel a few years ago, did the weather on CBS3 this morning.
  13. Will CNN classify this as "Breaking News"? Looks like CNN has hired former CBS3-er Oren Liebermann, too. http://cnnpressroom.blogs.cnn.com/2015/08/04/oren-liebermann-and-matt-rivers-join-cnn-international/
  14. I thought this was mildly interesting. Caitlin Roth, who did weekend and occasional weekday weather on Fox29, recently moved to DC to do weekday traffic & weather at the Fox affiliate there. I figured she relocated as a step up from weekends to weekdays. The DC Fox station just hired Erin Como, who did some traffic at NBC10 a few years back, and was most recently working in Nashville. Caitlin will go back to working weekends. I don't know all the details, but even with the relocation, it seems to be a lateral move. Caitlin is originally from the Philly area, too. http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/87129/wttg-adds-erin-como-for-morning-traffic
  15. Ukee's last morning show was Wednesday. Nicole Brewer was on with Erika Thursday & Friday. Btw, Pat Gallen from 97.5 radio has been added to CBS3 to cover sports. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/entertainment/Pat-Gallen-moves-from-975-Fanatic-to-CBS3-Phila.html
  16. She either only works certain days or was on vacation or does the traffic at 5 & 6PM.
  17. I know Ukee doesn't move to evenings until next week, but CBS3's current newscasts have all been anchored by women---Jessica, Kate and Lesley. Has a Philadelphia station ever had an all woman newscast for any length of time, not including vacations?
  18. Michelle Grossman's been working weekends on NBC10 again, although she was off this weekend. Justin also does traffic on CBS3 during the weekday mornings occasionally. They should get one of their "Weather Watchers" to start doing forecasts. Kate Bilo is auditioning replacements/helpers, too. http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/cbs-3-kidcaster/
  19. Tim Lake's views on Channel 3's changes. https://www.facebook.com/TimLakePaNewz/posts/1680840342201395:0
  20. I'm ok with a 7AM newscast. I just don't see the need for a weekend 5 to 7 or 8AM and again at 9AM. It's a lot of the same stories from the day/night before. I'm waiting for Fox29 to start early (earlier than 8) on the weekends soon, too. I think each station just wants to one-up the other.
  21. I guess it's because I'm old and don't understand how ratings work these days, but what's the point of a 5AM Saturday newscast on Ch 10? Ch 3 does the same and Ch 6 starts at 5:30AM. Is there really that much of an audience that early on a weekend?
  22. Ukee's moving to nighttime and other changes. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/phillygossip/292945081.html More changes at CBS3, which on Tuesday let go of three of its biggest on-air names: anchor Chris May, chief meteorologist Kathy Orr and sports director Beasley Reece. Starting July 13, longtime morning anchor Ukee Washington will replace May as co-anchor, with Jessica Dean, of the 5, 6, and 11 p.m. newscasts on CBS3 and the 10 p.m. newscast on CW57, a station spokeswoman said Wednesday. Kate Bilo will replace Kathy Orr as chief meteorologists on those newscasts, with Katie Fehlinger taking over Bilo’s duties on the noon show. Meteorologist Carol Erickson, who has been with the station on and off since 1978, was offered a new contract but has decided to leave to, in her words, “focus on my commitment to animal welfare in the region.” No word on replacement for Reece.
  23. From philly.com: CBS3 kills midday show It appears that the window for entertainment-type news shows is shrinking in this town. If you were looking forward to watching Channel 3's noon newscast yesterday, you may have noticed something missing - no more "Talk Philly" on CBS3. The station's now-defunct hybrid newscast/talk show had a good run. The program's last appearance was Thursday, when Pat Ciarrocchi interviewed the founder of a DIY beauty-product line. So now, instead of seeing Ciarrocchi and Ukee Washington on their high-top stools in the "Talk Philly" studio, they're now behind the anchor desk for Eyewitness News at noon. I'm told CBS3 still plans to incorporate some of the arts and lifestyle segments that were featured during the noontime program, but there will be a much greater emphasis on news from here on. Also new as of yesterday: The station has dropped its 7 to 9 a.m. newscast on the CW Philly. A CBS3 spokeswoman told me they have decided to move more resources to the early morning time slot - from 4:30 to 7 a.m. This, I'm told, frees up the staff members who were doing four-plus hours of straight anchoring and enables them to get out of the studio more often for reporting.
  24. The Good Day gang did their version of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince's "Summertime" this morning, 6/19. http://www.myfoxphilly.com/story/29360349/good-day-recreates-fresh-prince-hit-in-new-music-video
  25. I think I saw Jamie Stover anchoring with Jaciel a few of those days. I did not see her this morning, though.
