That promo was no fluke...

His WGN initiation is complete.

A WGN9 promo for Friends, when they centered their whole look around Akzidenz Grotesk and streaking arrows:

Another local TV mainstay is retiring.
After 37 years, Sabrina Squire's last day at WWBT is May 23rd.

Holy crap she looks like she’s in her 40s.

He filled in frequently pre-Ponce, and on some holidays, but I'd say it's been awhile. Marcus filling in for Dan is the other surprise.
I mentioned pages ago on this thread that Marcus filled in for Dan on Thanksgiving morning because the latter was doing the parade.

At this rate, TEGNA, Sinclair, Scripps, and Gray will be the only station groups in America.

So, WCVB West. Got it.
Basically.

Everybody knows Space Station HBO. It’s one of those sequences that really needs no introduction. Even the network itself has it on their YouTube page.
Then in 1999, as stop motion animation was seen as dated (with the exception of “Chicken Run”), a new sequence emerged. From the theater to the small town, the tundra, the desert, and back into the city, it’s won over its share of viewers too.
Then came 2011. Things got muted. Extravagance was dulled in favor of
and. Until last year. With the introduction of the “HBO in Focus” motif (see any one of their current promos), a new Feature Presentation sequence was created, with a couple notable callbacks, and that classic 12-note signature as loud and proud as ever.
I see your HBO and raise you 2 Showtime “No Limits” feature presentations:

A WGN 9pm close from 2003, before they switched to the evening version of the Non-Stop theme.

Have I missed something? How is Lester Holt connected to Mueller's investigation?
He’s not, but Trump did an interview with him last year, and the topic of the Comey firing came up during it.

WXIX/Cincinnati - their morning show goes until 11:00 AM.
I’m counting WJBK’s 11am news as well.

KXAS is entering a partnership with KRLD 1080, ending the latter’s partnership with KTVT.

Additionally, WJBK will be expanding it's morning newscast in September to start at 4 AM, officially becoming the first station in Detroit (and possibly all of Michigan) to run a newscast at 4 AM.
Speaking of WJBK...as of today, they are still using the Fox O&O Theme. Meanwhile, they continue to use Scott Chapin, including on promos for syndicated shows that debuted within the past few years.
Eight hours of local news in the morning. Now that is the true definition of overkill.

Linda Yu is now hosting a food show for the Sun-Times. (Does she ever age?)

Remember when WGN had a 60th anniversary special hosted by Jim Belushi?

Extreme: loved hearing it on KOKI, but not ideal for the 2010s.

Outside of the scorebox, I like these new sports graphics a lot. It almost looks network-level.
WGN/Tribune has the best in-house creative group in the country.

I wish WGNA showed sports again so we could see it in action.

KDFW is airing a 7pm newscast on KDFI starting on Monday. Just saw a promo during their 10pm.

Scoreboard: AWFUL.
Looks like they took some cues from Fox Sports’ current flat look.

They’re running a promo for the Cubs game Thursday featuring the new graphics, logo, and music!
