ABC Alaska (KYUR) has dropped NewsNet for Waypoint's News Hub.

I assume KTWO has done the same? That's gonna be a huge blow to them, as the Costal/Vision Alaska deal was probably what was keeping the network on air with Newsy availiable as a wider reaching and more professional alternative......

One big scoop buried in this piece:

Coming back for season three is CBS Media Ventures’s Drew Barrymore, averaging a 0.6 in households in its sophomore season.

Next year, the show will be split into two half-hours, which stations can run back to back or separately. CBS-owned stations will pair Drew with local news in top markets and air the second half-hour on its duopoly stations, sources said.

Didn't they try this format for Face The Truth? It only lasted one year.....

According to both the New York Post and FTVLive, Norah O'Donnell's Evening News tenure may end soon.

FTVLive, reporting on March 10 and citing an internal source that CBS may "downplay" her role at the network

    https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2022/3/10/norah-is-nowhere-to-be-seen-in-ukraine

And now on the 11th, the NY Post reports that her alleged attitude may not be helping the situation

    https://nypost.com/2022/03/11/norah-odonnells-attitude-under-fire-at-cbs-evening-news/

As I said before, the fact that the newscast has not switched over to the new standard CBS font while the CBS Weekend News has was a sign that Norah's days were numbered.....

WJZ is launching a 9am newscast March 7th. Maury moves to WUTB at 2pm.

Another sign he's about to hang it up in original episodes? If thats the case, they'll pull a Judge Judy and keep the slots going with reruns!

Huge blow to Newsnet as they lose the Top Market there and will have to scramble to find a new affiliate

A station carried by few to no cable systems? Hardly a huge blow. As long as they've got their news producing deals for Coastal, NewsNet will somehow stay afloat, much to the delight of Amercian TV news fans in the Philippines.

More writing on the wall- that shiny new Studio 57 set can probably make for an easy move for CBSEN back to NYC

The fact that they have not changed over to the new standard CBS font (They're still using the slightly extended version from when Jeff Glor took over back in 2017) yet the CBS Weekend News already has, may also be a sign of Norahs days being numbered.....

Here's an old WNYT newscast from November 7, 1997:

For the sanity of other members, please don't flood this forum with your OCD speculation on stations getting new graphics themes etc like you do in the comments on YT!

Now here's a pair of classic Milwaukee newscasts, one of WITI from 1990:

And another of WTMJ as NewsChannel 4 from 1991:

And as far as I'm concerned, there are only four "Big Three" affiliates airing "Maury": KDNL (St. Louis, ABC), WNCF (Montgomery, ABC), WGBC-DT2 (Meridian, NBC), and the biggest surprise to me, WJZ (Baltimore, CBS).

There was a fifth, WTWC, that passed it over to its Fox subchannel in favor of Tamaron Hall just this September.

This could be interesting, Don Lemon may have played a role in altering Jussie Smollett he was going to be arrested. I know this is coming from the NYP and other more right wing outlets but this is serious grounds for termination if true. CNN needs to investigate and if these claims are found to be true ACNN needs to fire him. Who knows, maybe we’ll be getting 3 new hours of programing on CNN.

As I expected, the CNN that Trump helped build is quietly falling apart....

And just barely over a week before the fire at WTVD that gutted their recently-introduced news set.

By October, the blue chroma key wall seen in the promo had been salvaged from the remains and transplanted over to the temporary conference room set while repairs were made on the burnt section of the building and a new set was being built:

I remember when WTSP showed the MDA Labor Day telethon that year they were advertising CBS This Morning and The Price Is Right moving on September 12th. Only the network morning shows and morning daytime shows which was only TPIR and ABC’s Mike and Maty at that time switched channels prior to December 12th.

The same type of situation happened in other New World markets, with the daytime shows moving to their new station 3 months before the full switch occurred. For example in Atlanta, Price is Right had moved to WVEU 69 in September of '94, which CBS was planning on buying before they struck an 11th hour deal with WGNX to affiliate with them.

I am so mad. I don’t understand why you have a network named NewsNation which brags about the newsrooms you have across the country and be showing syndicated programming during one of the worst storms to hit LA. They literally have more reporters on the ground versus any network. Use them. Do affiliate coverage. Jesus. It’s not hard. This doesn’t help your cause.

Frankly, I think they're afraid to cut ties with the loyal viewers of Blue Bloods and Last Man Standing, as they get higher ratings and ad revenue than the news!

I was listening to Nexstar's earnings call while working, and at one point he mentioned that only 16% of people in the country recognized the NewsNation brand, even admitting that 84% of the US "has no earthly idea" what it is.

At least he's honest that nobody's watching...

That's because he wants much of the viewership to be from the always dwindling ammount of cable subscribers. Basically, he's acting like Randy Marsh in that South Park episode when he bought the town's Blockbuster store....
