  1. Our good friends over at The Other Site have the new open, and speaking of new music... CBS is bringing back the music from '87, albeit slightly remixed.

WKYC had changed their graphics for the newscasts.  The weather on the left is gone.

And they’ve further modified the graphics, moving the logo, time, and temperature to the right side of the screen in a much more compact size.

  3. And I'm getting tired of people beating a dead horse here.

I know a lot of you don't think NN will succeed (and I understand that), but the more it gets talked about not succeeding; it gets pretty boring.

And part of the reason why stuff like In The Heat Of The Night are still airing is because they're trying to burn off the syndication rights; and a lot of the breaking news stuff that happens, they're trying to rely on the website, YouTube, or Nexstar's affiliates for it because of the shows like In The Heat Of The Night.

Here's a behind the scenes photo they showed today, in tribute to the director who is leaving.  Really sad what the quality of this show has become.

It is sad knowing that they're stuck on the blue screen set (because the Paramount+ sports show took over that side of the old studio); but to be honest, I still don't mind the show being pre-recorded. Excluding people like us, no one would've really payed attention to the switch from live to not over the past 2 years.

Yeah, and Globo definitely has their own ways; that music is very 80's

Globo has been using that piece of music for Plantão since 1991; kinda like how NBC News has been using the same piece as Meet The Press for its special reports..

I remember seeing it for the first time on old Andy Griffith repeats that ran on WOAC-TV 67 in Canton/Akron before they got sold and turned into an INTV/Shop At Home and now TCT owned WRLM....

By then I was old enough to not be scared by stuff like this, but years before the "Sit UBU sit" somehow had an effect on me 🤣🤣

And the old ITC logo that ran after the Muppet Show kind of creeped me out too!

Yeah, the V of Doom never scared me as a kid (whether I was 3 or 8 years old) when watching old shows like Andy Griffith or Gilligan's Island on TV Land or Retro TV.

It's a fantastic reboot of their old-time logo.  I think it's going to be the next design trend as stations resurrect and re-boot their heritage branding because of how homogeneous and "networked" broadcast affiliates have become.

WKBN doing what they did a decade ago was another great example of using their heritage "WKBN" sign as part of their logo.

Yeah, and then you look at WPXI, which has used the same "11" logo since the 80s.

Going by this forum decides what is and isn't a quality network? LOL. That's why most people in tv news are going to lose their jobs this decade. They don't understand today or the future. You especially.

If it wasn't for independent news, a case in Wisconsin would not have been decided on facts. No mainstream network or local outlet was there to cover the events that occured. Independent journalists are beating the mainstream media every single day and the public has noticed.

Apparently the public agrees with me. Do I need to post a chart of how the ratings of NewsNation have not only slid when it was WGN America but has continued to slide throughout this year? It is a FAILURE and that isn't going to change.

RAV gets more viewers from WarRoom, and isn't the only show on RAV that does, than NewsNation gets from any program they carry. Yes, it is rough production wise around the edges but at least it has a huge growing base across multiple platforms. Something that can not be said for any NewsNation program.

NewsNation is the single BIGGEST failure in the history of tv news. You've just proved it by calling it a national cable network and so did I providing at link to its ratings. Show me one cable news network with its reach that has consistently had ratings as low as it has.

When you want to have a fact based discussion about how LOW the streaming numbers, including YouTube, are for NewsNation, I'll be happy to make a mockery out of your uneducated post again. Really, quit making such ridiculous statements if you can't bring facts. FACTS. Go look at a definition of the word.

Dude. My great-grandfather and my grandfather, who were both respected journalists (the latter for the Pittsburgh Press and Post-Gazette) would be rolling in their graves with what you're saying.

Just because NewsNation doesn't get good ratings doesn't mean it has a good viewer base from those who go on the website or watch Nexstar affiliates (hi, I'm one of those people).

But in all seriousness, I know NewsNation has ratings in the tens of thousands; but saying a year after Prime premiered (when it was still 3 hours) that its a huge failure is ridiculous. There were probably people who though Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, Newsmax, or even CBSN wouldn't work; and yet they have.

Glad to see how jealous you are.

The PATHETIC NewsNation ratings continue to FALL even on a HUGE news day. https://twitter.com/RoadMN/status/1462903552427372545?s=20

Sir... no more slander on this here forum please. We're a divided nation as is, and you need to really see that ratings are truly a thing of the past because of streaming and YouTube. Plus, there are people in Waukesha and across the nation who are hurting and mourning, so stop.

It would be ideal if we could express our opinions without making a person attack or judgement. I find posts from @mrschimpf to be knowledgeable and extremely sound from a business perspective. Not everyone may agree but to say someone "doesn't understand a thing" seems unnecessarily personal.

For example, I don't know how one can predict that NewsNation "will never amount to anything" and I think it is overheated rhetoric to claim it is "the biggest loser in tv news history." MSNBC had a decade of failed shows before they hit their stride and the basement dweller that is the CBS News morning show certainly has to be in contention...both are still in business by the way. Lastly, I can't believe that one single show, Live PD, is the ONLY show that could deliver exposure. That seems extremely limiting. It is a wide world, there must be other ideas out there. My point is while I do not agree with your point of view, I do respect you as a person and your right to feel differently than me.

For the record, I don't know mrschimpf. Just didn't like what I perceived as an attack. They might not even have noticed or cared.

    I agree completely.

  11. You guys really don't want NewsNation to succeed, do you?

Like, I get the ratings on TV aren't great, but look at the YouTube views (and potentially the recordings people may have made on Hulu or YouTube TV); not to mention how many hits the app and website have.

So what will the national CBSN be? Or will they keep that name?

CBSN will be renamed as CBS News; but I will still call it CBSN for short, since we've always known it by that name.
