  1. 3D with gloss and shine! Puts high definition tv's to great use over the dull flatness we usually get.
  2. I always wonder about the social distancing set ups that they do on the news. I know it's to set an example but do they actually do that off-camera? For example, do they not interact within less than 6 ft of each other in employee areas, and do people socially distance in the newsroom?
  3. WSVN pre-newsplex newsroom sets (late 80s, early 90s)
  4. Looks like the b2tmc or whatever it's name was YT channel that featured classic newscasts has been taken down.
  5. Today Show late 90s to approx. 2002 Early Today (2009) Beautiful, glossy, 3D, detailed and HD WNBC 2003-08 3D, blue spectrum shine, and hd My thoughts exactly!
  6. WNBC Approx 1981-93 Love this set, didn't realize it lasted so long. I wonder what prompted them to rebrand from News 4 NY to News Channel 4.
  7. MSNBC 1996. Amazing, futuristic and internet oriented. Nothing compares to it on tv today. WABC "Channel 7 Eyewitness News" late 80s-late 90s. Plain and simple but I like the frame consuming blue background, reminds me of interview sets from the 70s.
  8. WCBS short lived 2 News era (1997). The station was going downhill at the time, the news theme wasnt all that, but the graphics package was great. Wish the graphics and logo had remained longer.
  9. WCBS short lived "2 News" era (1996-97). Wish it lasted longer! Though the station was going downhill in the ratings at the time, this graphics package was much better than the News 2 era that followed it.
  10. The 1990s and 2000s were a very creative era in graphics packaging. Stations has more of a degree of appearence individuality and flatness wasn't as widespread. Post your favorite news graphics packages from the 90s or 2000s! Image or Video: WNBC 1990: WSVN 1993:
  11. Cool! up until recently it was hard to find any WABC news clips from about 98-04!
  12. Today Show (1990-94): faux wood, ice cubed windows, landscape wallpaper window pane walls, ambersome vintage world maps, designated news desk area, and a grand piano. The mid 80s set was my favorite set but this was beautiful!
  13. Good Morning America, Christmas 1993. Ornate decorations creating depth. These days all of this elegant detailing would be done on a video wall.
  14. My guess is, 6-7am is a critical hour on the big 3 networks because it's their audiences' last chance to get local news before the switch to a national morning show. Stations like Fox & The CW might want their A-Team anchors in that slot to be more competitive. In that case, a decent split would be B team 4-6 am, A-team 6-10 am and have your traffic, weather, entertainment anchors handle the fluff from 10-11am.
  15. Exactly. why not make your actual TV channel better? Their reaction to Zucker's firing is giving me Fox News hosts crying about Roger Ailes's passing vibes. Is CNN talent not cognizant of how bad their network actually is?
  16. WCBS "Channel 2 News" 1993: Appears to be a 2 set arrangement like WNBC. Top set: features the common multi monitor background of that time period. Great detailing with the Rather era CBS Evening News like world map. A black accent instead of blue on a different newscast. Bottom set has window pane like elements with crinkle cut fry shaped beams featuring a monitor on each "fold".
  17. WNBC "News Channel 4" (1995) had 2 sets: Set A: Live at 5: detailing with legal books, plants and a window blinds type blue glass, with a few statuettes. Set B: News Channel 4 at 6pm Most stations I see today have only 1 set
  18. WSVN Newsplex mid 1990s! Very CNN. It matched with their hard/tabloid news station format they were aiming for. Today (NBC) 1990. Gorgeous Manhattan apartment style set that was used from the mid 80s until Sep 1990. Love the window level view of the skyline, and the sunrise toned rainbow behind the anchors. The living room area was very detailed with various trinkets and pieces that make it look realistic as if it were going to be used for a soap or sitcom.
  19. Jumped the gun. From the quote below I inferred that the earlier time slot would coincide with the possible new name. The question remains though. As many stations across the country are adopting earlier start times it leads me to wonder where the AM. personal stand on this. But that's probably best for the speculation thread.
  20. Yet another station at 4am. I wonder how the talent feels about having to get up even earlier? Moreover if 4am becomes the industry standard, will those national morning newscasts like CBS Morning News or Early Today will still be around in the years to come?
  21. Good! CNN is a shell of its former self. It desperately needs new leadership.
  22. Loving the CBS 2 logo in the middle of the CBS eye. Given the chance that CBS Mornings could always share the same fate as past CBS morning programs, they should probably just keep the name of the local morning show unchanged.
  23. Challenger Disaster 36 years ago today WABC (1986) CNN coverage featuring behind the scenes footage (1986) WABC never had the best sets or graphics but they had a solid news team.
  24. Minor observation. I've always wondered why CBS 2 News starts at 11:01pm? I suppose it has to do with advertising?
  25. I wonder what the reasoning be behind adding a second anchor soely for 6 AM hour? I think Regan has a bubbly personality and would fair better in the 7-10am. Bianca has a calm demeanour and would anchor well with Dan in the more strictly news Good Day Wake Up.
