  1. Good to know. I wonder if it's possible that it started even before the 80s. It makes sense that they have been running lake levels for a long time. The market is heavily agricultural with lots of places to boat on.
  2. So this confirms it was in-house. This is really refreshing to see. I wish more stations would design packages in-house these days.
  3. I searched through a few vintage videos on YouTube from KOLR10, KY3, and KSPR and I didn't find any lake level reports prior to that time. I'm thinking that KOLR10 may have only recently added that to their newscasts. But I'm not certain on that.
  4. That is really messed up.
  5. So there isn't as much to move over to KNXV, then. But Wikipedia is claiming on KASW's page that KASW's master control and "most internal operations" are "based" at KNXV's studios. I'm thinking Wikipedia might need to fix that. Slightly off-topic, but I'm curious how they deal with moving master controls. Do they need to take the station off the air while the switch is made? Or can it be done internally without interrupting the signal or programming?
  6. Based on this promo, Local 10 has reporters in Venezuela and Haiti, as well. On a side note, it seems like they are using the phrase "Local 10 News is everywhere". If I recall from earlier in the decade, WTVJ heavily promoted themselves by saying "Team (or NBC) 6 is everywhere". Not sure if that slogan is just for this promo, though.
  7. That's really unfortunate. As for the L.L. Bean jackets, I wouldn't be surprised if they keep using the existing "24-Hour News 8" logo on those until the next time they place a bulk order. I think Nexstar knows that it would be a really bad idea for them to dump their news helicopter in the #2 TV market in the country. Notwithstanding what they did at KLAS, I would expect Nexstar to keep it at KTLA.
  8. I would be surprised if they didn't consolidate. But I'm sure it takes some time to get the master control, transmitter link, and all the other equipment and stuff relocated to KNXV's facilities. Especially if KNXV is going to be debuting new gfx anytime soon, I'd assume getting KASW relocated isn't at the top of their priority list.
  9. KOLR10 in June 2004 And here is another from KOLR10 in 2004. By the end of that year, they switched to a new logo and set. As seen here, they also changed the opening sequence. You can also see David Oliver, who is still with the station. Ted Keller can be seen in both videos and left KOLR10 earlier this decade. I miss seeing Ted on the air. For me, this is pure nostalgia. This station is what got me really interested in broadcasting growing up.
  10. KSPR in 2005 when it was called "Springfield 33 News"--Here are a couple of sponsored idents and a short teaser.
  11. Exactly!
  12. For an in-house package, that is outstanding. Very nice. The gfx dept at WAVE deserve a pay raise.
  13. Did the other stations roll out the website design at the same time, or was it more gradual?
  14. That L3 reminds me a bit of WFTV and KTVK. I'd be curious what the open looks like.
  15. Hmm...
  16. Reminds me somewhat of what WBTV looks like for weather forecasts.
  17. Thank you for pointing that out... (I meant WKRG)
  18. I'm glad that Alan Sealls is returning to air. He is really good at reporting the weather. I think he can attract a lot of viewers from WKRG.
  19. Those transitions also remind me of the Tribune CBS gfx, as well
  20. Most of the current gfx packages by Gray are pretty solid, but it amazes me how messed up the implementation can sometimes get.
  21. Wow, that logo animation is just...bad. smh
  22. That is a cool looking set.
  23. I 100% agree. Both stations would suffer (especially WEAR and their Florida coverage) if a combined news operation/product is implemented. Plus, I think the WEAR brand has considerable value that would be lost if they went with a boring generic brand. Whether or not WEAR has any similar "major announcement" teasers running would be very telling whether this is what could be brewing. But, for all we know at the moment it could still be something completely different.
  24. Have you seen anything similar to that on WEAR?
  25. Well Quest airs as 480i on my local Tegna station. Wikipedia also lists the picture format for the Quest network as 480i. My thinking is that WBNS will keep MeTV, at least for now. I'd assume they would bump MeTV to a lower subchannel if they planned to remove them later on, unless they were contractually obligated to keep them on the .2 subchannel. Looks like the station you mentioned is WQMC-LD
