  1. They could at least put the eight inside a box or something...to keep some continuity from the last logo design. They could've done better.
  2. That new logo for WQAD, if it's actually what they'll be using OTA, looks uninspired.
  3. I don't remember if this was discussed but why would WTKR and WTVR be exempted from the new Scripps gfx? I can perfectly see why at WPIX, but WTKR and WTVR seem mildly random to get exempted.
  4. Don't forget the KSBY package with the Tower music pkg. They have used Tower since 2001. It'll be a sad day if Tower is no longer heard on their airwaves. KSBY's package could easily live on another 5 years without aging a day. Very nice package.
  5. They appear to be back on the temporary set-up tonight, including the L-shaped desk and the videowall.

I don't see how they can possibly justify keeping the beyond ridiculous branding and presentation style on WKYC seen as of lately. Their ratings have been so awful that the whole debacle should be included in future academic textbooks to show college students what not to do in branding a TV news department.
  7. Why do they have a trademark symbol on the WWPI logo?

Amen...I wouldn't mind hearing This Is Home make a comeback. It was actually a great music pkg.
  9. What a downgrade of a logo for KEYC. As if the WFAA Tegna-ified logo wasn't bad enough...
  10. Thanks @oknewsguy That's the video where I saw the WCPO open.
  11. Not bad. I'm amazed only WCPO (to my knowledge) has done something this custom. I slightly got some Sinclair vibes in that open, especially with the logo. The open does seem a bit washed out but at least it's not dull looking like other stations. The gfx still hasn't won me over, however as I previously said elsewhere I'm liking the music far more now that I hear it in a montage uninterrupted from SAM. I will say it's a relief that WCPO got the gfx in a way that isn't a total disaster.
  12. So if World News Now was coming from the new ABC News Now set this morning, where was WNT originating from last night?
  13. I can see why they have the score gfx centered and condensed. I also agree that this seems to be a nod to mobile viewers. I can appreciate the ability to easy see the scores. I think they should make the time and quarter info bigger and maybe stretch the L3s out a bit. Overall I like the package, but hopefully they make those improvements for next year.
  14. This is how it looked right after the open.
  15. Hopefully KFSM was allowed to choose the least repulsive cuts of "C Clarity". Either way, it's a sad day for the NW Arkansas DMA, especially at Channel 5.
  16. Glad they are able to keep the slogan--for now at least.
  17. I will pause my posting hibernation to say that WPTV's open is somewhere between meh and ok. I do see an improvement on doing a combo of the WPTV logo, both white and full color, as well as the "News at 5PM" font. On that particular open, it has somewhat better logic to the gfx execution. So kudos to WPTV for that. But WFLX's open is 100% rubbish. And although their previous open was also bad, I have to say I like their previous open more already. I'm no fan of this gfx package, although the music is marginally better than the gfx by comparison. The morning cut used on KNXV is likeable, although that's the sole case I'm willing to 100% endorse the music. On the music use in general: I'm amazed that the stations seem to roughly dump out of the open audio for the bumper music...which appears evident even in the WPTV intro. I hope that Scripps will improve on that and make it more seamless. A final thought: An open should have a strong local flair to it while remaining true to the overall branding strategy of the network. That's all I'll say on the matter.
  18. Glad they didn't dump the yellow/black logo. But this gfx implementation is, again, such a downgrade from the Renderon graphics. That speech bubble in the open looks even more ridiculous than before. The "Taking Action" text is awkwardly spaced too far apart and doesn't look like a finished product. And they seriously need to go back to the drawing board on that logo bug. Scripps might as well not bother with having a bug if it's not even legible. And that's true of other stations as well, especially WFTS. But I don't dare say more.
  19. Interesting to note that Nightline is using the WNT desk. I can only speak for tonight's broadcast, though. I don't know if this is just tonight or if they have been doing this for a while.
  20. From FTVLive--a fire broke out at the KCRA building. Thankfully it wasn't widespread and was apparently contained to just an older portion of the building mainly for storage. Does anyone know how their newscasts were affected during the fire? https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2020/1/7/fire-rips-through-hearst-station Edit: There is also this article from the Sacramento Bee. Apparently they was an evacuation at the KCRA studios. Also, the article clarifies that the fire took place early Sunday morning. https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/crime/article238981353.html
  21. And agreed it's 100% major in some way...otherwise they wouldn't have so much workarounds made with how they normally produce their shows. This Week originated from Times Square studios. What does that tell you? To me, there is something major going on. I think we can safely conclude that much. And I agree with you. It's not a question on if something major is happening. It's only a question of how major it is.
  22. 100% agreed. And btw, here is a screenshot I just got of one of the OTS shots. The backdrop is a dead giveaway in that shot as well with the pixelation. I will say that the monitor to the left side looks more realistic than the rest of the backdrop in that frame.
  23. To me that is 99.9% likely to not be the actual newsroom backdrop. That again raises my suspicions they are doing major renovations in TV3. And I'm watching them right now and it looks like a video backdrop given the slight pixelated look on the 2-anchor shot.
  24. Totally agreed. They should make that bug more visible, which is especially problematic when a L3 is not on screen. Ideally they should have the full-color version of the station logo on screen. At least that would remedy the problem with the bug. Alternatively, they should encase the bug in a box that always remains on-screen during newscasts.
  25. https://www.newscaststudio.com/2020/01/06/abc-news-times-square-temporary/ Towards the end of this article from NewscastStudio, there is an interesting idea that was raised. Is it possible that WNT is not even in TV3 at the moment, but in a temporary studio?
