  1. I can't be sure, but I can just guess he was referring to the low resolution of that 10 logo. Tegna needs to redo the logo section of their new website design. Many logos on Tegna's new website format are barely legible...and I'm being generous in saying that. One station in particular has their slogan so small it would be better described as fine print. Make the logo space bigger or have the logo take up a larger part of that section so it's easier to read/look at. Either way Tegna needs to address this sooner rather than later.
  2. Both of those would look much better on WTSP. The current multi-lined logo they seem to be adopting is just too busy looking and distracting.
  3. I agree with you. I would just say that many companies weren't going into this with the best balance sheet. I think Sinclair has time to effectively mitigate any major issues.
  4. Glad that Sinclair is finally able to put that debacle behind them. The dollar figure is a bit higher than I expected, but it's still consistent with what I thought would happen long ago that it would just be a fine as the sole requirement to turn the page. Hopefully Sinclair will do better with their acquisition strategy moving forward. I don't think this will in any way derail their balance sheet. I suspect Sinclair already knew a fine would be forthcoming and were already planning to factor that into their expenses for awhile (long before the RSNs and COVID). And if in the off chance it did derail their balance sheet, remember that every company is in big trouble right now from the response to COVID-19. Until the states fully reopen and people open their wallets again, everyone is less than "healthy" as a company--notwithstanding a few exceptions (Walmart, Amazon, etc).
  5. Tegna needs to make the logo section bigger on the website. And I still wish the 10 typeface would be made solid (or have fewer lines) instead of the ridiculous number of lines (which doesn't show up good at all on the website).
  6. I'd say that's not likely to happen because if they had any intentions to dump the "Action" name it would've happened with the gfx update. Personally I prefer the full "41 Action News" name.
  7. I noticed them using a promo with the Aerial package awhile back. I hope they're not planning to drop the KRON music pkg.
  8. Hiring advisory firms and such didn't result in them having to furlough people. Extravagant spending by the company's board just to retain board members (and that's not automatically the same thing as "defending" them against Standard), combined with the questionable (at best) circumstances regarding their shareholder voting process are just two of the long list of reasons I don't see this as a deathblow to Standard. This isn't over by any means.
  9. I'm quite surprised that KYUR is choosing to go this route. Are they're still producing the newscasts from the station, or did NewsNet take over production? I will say that I'm glad to hear them using much better music now.
  10. Personally I view that Nexstar is not going to be a great candidate for Tegna, although they might be able to pull it off (at least in buying a large part of the stations if intervening future circumstances allow). My reasoning for this is they still have until next year to acquire "back" WPIX from Scripps--and I can only imagine how much they want to get into that market. And if I was Nexstar, I would be actively trying to get WPIX. I still think Standard is the front runner candidate for Tegna--at least practically speaking. They seem to be the perfect fit given that they aren't even nearly close to the ownership cap as it currently stands now. And perhaps TBN could get any divestitures (or at least some divestitures) if Standard managed to get Tegna outright.
  11. I wonder what the reasoning is for holding on to their layouts from Dispatch. Although I'm not holding my breath much, I personally would prefer that they keep the Dispatch layout. I really like the way Dispatch did their sites--especially WBNS.
  12. I'm leaning towards saying that Disney may not do anything with selling ABC...at least not anywhere soon enough for it to matter.
  13. Disappointed that KIVI didn't get a new set background (albeit virtual) with the update. Agreed, and I'm glad they've kept the voiceovers. Hopefully WTXL gets one reinstated at some point.
  14. Tegna desperately needs new corporate leadership. If common sense prevailed, they shouldn't have spent whatever it costs to anchor "from home" only to then announce that workers are going to start getting furloughed. Now is not the time to be betraying its own workforce (or even have the appearance thereof) when they are tasked with relaying important information to viewers under difficult circumstances. There was surely a way to achieving a reasonable budget for having remote broadcasting without it leading to a situation where furloughs come into play. Or at least that's how I'm interpreting this discussion. If anything, this only further makes me convinced that Tegna needs a completely new board to lead the company--now.
  15. Honestly I'm not that big of a fan. If they had the 10 numbers solid instead of those lines maybe I would like it more. But I do like the Tampa Bay font below it. I'm going to miss the coastal "wave" theme of their outgoing logo. We'll have to see how it looks when they actually roll this out OTA. Maybe it'll look better than this preview...we shall see either way
  16. There's no need to attempt at race-baiting. Nobody mentioned race until you did. People on this site are just having a healthy discussion as things continue to develop regarding Tegna. Just because someone mentions a person by name has nothing to do with race. You really need to lighten up a bit, with all due respect.
  17. Especially if competing stations have traffic reporters, WTHR should have one for their newscasts as well. But given that we're talking about Tegna...nothing surprises me anymore.
  18. I wish Jeff Glor was still the CBSEN anchor. They didn't give him enough chance. He was a class act of a news anchor...rarely seen these days...
  19. Once they're back to normal in CBS Broadcast Center (and especially once everything calms down with COVID-19), I would imagine they'll get the 12pm newscast restored...if not sooner.
  20. Does YouTubeTV still carry WJZY? I find it odd that they would dump WMYT...but not WJZY.
  21. The imagery is pretty good on the graphics, notwithstanding that I don't particularly like the gfx pkg in general. But "C Clarity" is a sorry replacement for "The Tower". And of course they just had to drop a perfectly solid brand name for something uninspiring.
  22. Isn't that the desk from DC?
  23. By now, whatever trace of the COVID-19 virus circulating in the air or on surfaces at CBS Broadcast Center would be long dead by now. If this drags on for more than a couple more days I'm going to say CBS is overreacting.
