Going back to the Zucker exit conversation for a moment, I think it goes without saying that his influence isn't going anywhere any time soon when it comes to the top.
"Zucker lieutenant is a top candidate to replace him at CNN’s helm" (Dylan Byers, NBC News)
So in other words, CNN will be pretty much be the same with Zucker's strategies still in place.

This time it’s no joke...CTM tops Today on the morning after the Super Bowl.
CBS having the big game this year probably helped its ratings.

KAGS, the Tegna-owned NBC affiliate in Bryan/College Station, Texas, was unable to do the news yesterday because they lost power as a result of the unprecedented winter storm. It appears they aren’t going to be able to do the news again tonight ... and their chief meteorologist isn’t happy about it:
I don't know why some media outlets don't have generators these days. One of the local radio owners in my town has had a few power outages, and with multiple stations, that means they all go down at the same time, sometimes for hours on end.

I knew her days were numbered when she wasn't on during the election, and it wasn't her choice. I think she'll be back on TV in about a year, possibly on MSNBC.

That could be. It would be a real shame if Shep flames out. I guess worse case there’s always CNN.
I don't know if there's even room at CNN. Maybe Wolf will retire eventually and Shep will take his place?

I wonder whether NBC will change their graphics package as the current look, except NFL and EPL, is six years old.
I wonder the same thing.

I wonder why he wasn’t given a role on MSNBC or even on the mothership.
Probably not a spot open on Weekdays on MSNBC, as they would have push one of their personalities to a different timeslot.

ESPN has sadly announced that longtime SportsCenter reporter Pedro Gomez has passed away at the age of 58.
This is a big loss for ESPN. He was one of the their top baseball reporters. May he R.I.P.

Robb Webb, the longtime voiceover of 60 minutes and who also announced the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley, has died from COVID-19 complications at 82. He became 60 Minute's announcer in the mid-90's, and did other VO work as well. I've noticed there's been another announcer used lately.

I don't want the FCC to force the Cox stations to take an unfair deal. What needs to happen is the FCC and the NAB needs to allow Directv, Dish, Xfinity, Spectrum and others to pipe in a nearby station from a market next to the one where the station is dropped. So, in Pittsburgh's case. You have the option to choose WTOV, WJAC, WFMJ, or WBOY as an alternative till COX and Directv agree on a deal. In 2010, Directv replaced most NBC Hearst stations with Nexstar's WBRE for example.
I think the main alternates should be the NYC locals (East Coast [most are O&Os of said network]) and LA Locals (West Coast).
For those worried this wont work, Here is why it will. In most cases it would be the market next to theirs which would be semi local. All of the stations mentioned above do carry News, weather and Sports from certain places in the Pittsburgh market already so it would be an extension of that. It doesn't work in some areas but in most it would work fine. I do see some viewers going to other stations but most are watching for the network programming anyway. Not news.
Do that and that might end these disputes or make them shorter once and for all.

Congrats to both Whit and Linsey! Both great choices.

It looks like Tom is still anchoring weekends for now. He was on last night.

I was thinking about that today. The RSNs were first rebranded as Fox Sports Net on 11/1/96. So the networks used the Fox Sports/FSN branding for just shy of a quarter-century. An entire generation of viewers know the networks as only that, having never experienced the SportsChannel/Prime Network brands that preceded FSN. Once the rebrand officially happens it really will be the end of an era in sports television.
It sure will be.

I noticed the map is pretty much the same that FOX used but instead uses the Bally's name and is now red instead of blue.
This is the end of an era as Fox was the name for decades, using names like Fox Sports Net and FSN.

My choices to replace Tom are Dan Harris or Whit Johnson. Both are very serious and calm.
I wasn't the biggest fan of Tom's delivery. A little too theatrical and dramatic for me.

Wish they could offer Tom a spot on Good Morning America, replacing Michael Strahan, or add him as a third anchor or replacement for Muir on 20/20.
Lindsey Davis should’ve been fired after staging a crime scene live shot a few years ago. Unfortunately her producer was thrown under the bus for something she was obviously complicit with.
A friend of mine thinks David will be there as long as Walter Cronkite was at CBS.

CNN will have a special tonight at 9p on King entitled 'The King of Talk: Remembering Larry King' according to the banner seen below right-hand corner on TV at this moment.
I'll probably record it.

Long time talk show host Larry King has sadly passed away this morning at the age of 87.
This is very sad. Larry was popular for years and was CNN's biggest star for a long time. He's been through so many health issues for a few years now, including COVID, that I'm not surprised. I wonder if CNN will do a tribute tonight.
R.I.P. Larry.

Former Nightly News and Today anchor and current NBC News special correspondent Tom Brokaw announced that he will retire from the network after 55 years.
Even though he's been part-time since retiring from the NN chair, it's still the end of an era none the less. Maybe he will have a big social media presence like Dan Rather has.

Agreed. GMA is just over the top tabloid, with frequent usage of "breaking overnight", "shocking" and "dramatic video". (Today is following suit). There's some good bits you can get out of the first 30-45 minutes, but that's about it. I find myself tolerating Weekend GMA better.
I don't' mind a distinction in the morning shows. One being the high energy show like current GMA or the Today Show in Australia, one being the slower paced more intellectual program like CBS This Morning or the old U.S. Today show, etc.. . But GMA can be unwatchable at times especially with the silly Disney promotion and celebrity fluff.
The current Today Show is a bit less extreme but still flawed. Today seems to be going the more human interest, "authentic moments", emotional, laugh, cry, lifestyle" route. But GMA is still number one, either because audiences haven't seen older GMA and Today to make a comparison, or TV viewers are just making the best out of the current crop of morning shows. Overall, CBS This Morning IMO is the best out of the bunch, news and lifestyle discussion wise.
GMA seems to be using the same usage that WNT uses. Over the top dramatic reporting.

End of an era. CNN Airport will be no more at the end of March.
I wonder what will now be shown on TV's where the CNN Airport Network used to air?

On their own website, it says G4 is a digital first network, which means it's likely going to be a live channel on Peacock and possibily a live stream on Twitch and Youtube. Why they heck would they want to put a gamer-first channel on a distribution platform their audience is moving away from?
Is there a particular fetish here for NBCSN to go away or something?
G4'S audience doesn't need cable or satellite. Some of NBCSN'S audience does. G4 would make a great live stream for YouTube.
