In the case of KTVK, place "ET" back into its longtime home of 6:30pm (until Meredith brass decided to mess with something that had been working for decades).

I would say Rachael Ray's talk show, which should have been axed in 2012. Also, has "Cheaters" produced any new episodes since its previous distributor passed away and the syndication rights were bought back by its creator?

Wikipedia says that Cheaters is still airing new episodes, although it could be on hiatus due to the pandemic.

No more getting to mock The Doctors...what show will I use to be the zombie example of syndication now? 🥲

As for DMTV it was on borrowed time once WPIX got bought by Nexstar; they'll be happy to add newscasts when they had to get off their own set for it to tape.

Divorce Court? Steve Wilkos? Maybe Judge Mathis?

Not to mention most if not all other news streaming services are free, plus you can get CNN documentaries on HBO Max.

I think all the CNN docs will move over to CNN+ when it launches.

I don't see it either with regular people paying for CNN+. For one, Kate Bouldan, Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, and Don Lemon all have shows on the main network, and would Chris Wallace really bring in subscriptions? Add to the fact that the linear CNN will not be streamed on the service doesn't help either. Add to the fact that CNN tends to rank 3rd in cable news ratings, I just don't see it lasting. I bet the library programming would be higher than the news programming. Not to mention, there's already several free options out there for live news.

Robin Meade deserves more than HLN. Her bubbly personality would probably be better served on a top market local 7am morning show, if not on CNN which probably wants a more political AM newscast.

I remember seeing people mention here in the past about Robin and moving her over to CNN.. The thing is she's not a hard news journalist. Her style and talents would be a waste on CNN. She's more of an entertainment person over politics and foreign affairs.

Wow, Maury, Jerry Springer, Wendy Williams, Judge Judy, Ellen, Judge Lynn Toler, and maybe The Real all gone or going within the past year. What's next??

This all seems like the end of an era for TV syndication.

The OP also used the word "confirmation", when the article in question did not make any confirmations.

I know its not the OP's intent but you just can't throw the word "confirmation" out there, when nothing has been set in stone. You'll never hear confirmation that your favorite show will likely be renewed. You're gonna hear confirmation that your show will be renewed.

I stand by my previous post.

Going back to the topic at hand, The Doctors should've been gone a long time ago. Don't know why CBS still want to keep this abysmal show pedal.

I think the Doctors still exists because it's Dr. Phil's creation, and I'm sure he has a lot of say in what goes on.

  7. I always thought Buck was going to be at FOX forever, but this is a pretty big hire for sure. Steve Levy can probably focus on hockey now.

I've heard Al Michaels may end up going to FOX, although it seems like many people want Gus Johnson as the lead NFL voice.

I wonder who will now be the lead MLB voice for FOX?

  8. I wonder since Daphne Oz was part of the Good Dish, if it left a bad taste in some of the programmer's mouths, particularly in Pennsylvania where her father's running for Congress,, and thought that wouldn't be enough regarding the "equal time rule".

Judge Jerry might live on in reruns on Nosey, where all the other shows similar to it are on.

I think Nick Cannon premiered rather too late in syndication in many markets. WUPW didn't premiere it until after Wendy was sidelined and wouldn't be back.

The Real seemed like it was going to end eventually someday, probably due to its ratings, being average and not totally improving over time.

In Toledo, Melissa Voetsch announced her retirement from TV news.

She worked at WTOL as an anchor from the late 1980s through 2012’ish, when she left quietly after facing some heart issues. She then resurfaced at WTVG where she was a reporter since 2014.

I met her a few times. Very nice lady. I wish the best of luck to her in retirement.

The same Buzzfeed writer who exposed Ellen's issues is now after Dr. Phil in a new expose.

Color me surprised that the unlicensed egomaniac that forced primetime specials and two fictional retellings of his origin story onto CBS runs an ego-centric talk show full of abuse against lower staff and guests, including the withholding of medication. But really, everything found out here is unacceptable.

I thought this was pretty common knowledge long before this story came out. I guess the show stays on due to the relatively high ratings it still gets. I only watch on occasion as some of the stories are interesting at times.

My guess it's probably ABC but I'm not 100% sure who filed the strikes against him

Well, Disney's the one company that lobbies to extend copyright law, and ABC has filed strikes on people who've uploaded classic soaps in the past, even though they aired just once. With streaming in full swing, I wonder if they'll ever release those seasons, even if it's a lot of episodes. If it's a newscast that aired that once that was the result of the account being banned, that's petty on their part.

Does anyone know what happened to btm0815ma's YouTube channel? I noticed that his videos of the CBS, ABC, NBC and PBS newscasts had disappeared.

This isn't the first time he's been suspended. He was suspended quite a few years ago as well, and he might have had another account suspended as well. I assume it's copyright related, although I don't know who filed the strikes.

  13. I liked Judge Lynn Toler when she was on Divorce Court, but 3 judges in 3 years doesn't seem like a good sign. Plus, I'm surprised it's still on. I liked the show during the late 2000's and early 2010's compared to the last few seasons.

I thought of it more as NBCSN merging with USA, and USA being the brand that got to keep going on. NBC Sports no longer needs to buy filler like Mecum or PowerNation and fill 168 hours minus infomercials in a week, while the USA side gets to reduce the films and series they have to air on the weekends for live content they desperately need as their repeat shows can easily be streamed, without commercials.

Frankly I want more of this; network mergers to remove pointless networks and 'bundle bloat' that have no reason to exist when their programming can easily do so on another channel space. NBCU has embraced this in the past by killing Trio, Cloo, Chiller and Esquire and with eventually do so with Universal Kids (now just a literal YouTube playlist with traditional commercials), and slowly Disney has by also taking out ESPN Classic and likely soon Disney Channel and XD (thanks, Disney+)...while ViacomCBS continues to go on thinking viewers need VH1, which hasn't shown a Video Hit since 2013, along with Logo, MTV2, BET Her and TV Land, which are all just rerun channels with different audiences, and that Nicktoons and NickMusic need to somehow still exist.

You think Disney Channel will go away entirely? If so, it would be the end of an era. I know in other countries it's been shut down.

Losing VH1 and TV Land would also stink as they were both very popular for years. MTV2, BET Her and NickMusic were never that popular to begin with.
