Bummer, I always enjoyed watching Shep whenever I got the chance, he anchored very straight forward news, just like he promised he would. I’m surprised NBCU didn’t move him to streaming.

Based off the reaction from social media, it appears people liked him and would watch him else where.

I could see him anchoring a news hour on CNN *if* it was the right situation, pay and format. 60 Minuets or something streaming could be options. BBC News is set to launch new World News programs based out of D.C/NYC, that would be a great fit.

As for CNBC, I agree, they should just join CNBC World, it’d be better than shark tank and a great alternative to cable “news” channels.

Interestingly The News isn’t on tonight…..

    What's on now?

An excellent choice. His pickup of Schitt's Creek for Pop TV (along with its subsequent surge in popularity on Netflix) and especially its cleanup at the 2020 Primetime Emmys for its final season make him a perfect candidate.

Not a bad choice. No one had heard of Schitt's Creek over here until Pop picked it up and it became popular with a lot of people. Maybe another foreign show will become a hit when/if the CW picks it up.

A dark, gloomy Halloween...access to my Internet Archive channel was disabled this morning. :classic_sad: Looks like the VHS hobby is going on an even-longer hiatus than I thought. Unfortunately, my hobby may even end without any new videos uploaded.

AVTB seems to be OK for now.

Warner Brothers Discovery went on a purge of Looney Tunes content on the Archive last week. Could it have been content from them that led to your channel being removed?

After using what appeared to be a hastily thrown together reskin of the old Sportsnet graphics last year, TVA Sports has new graphics for its French NHL broadcasts.

Looks a lot like that one NBC used in the 2021 playoffs, but boxier. I'll give them credit for doing something a little different cause that doesn't look too bad.

The goal graphic reminds me of the 2021 NBC playoffs goal graphic as well.

    1. What did Newsmax think was going to happen?

    2. What happened to Lara? What is it that infects the minds of once rational and respected people to fall off such a nonsense cliff?

    Probably money for number 2.

    A better question:

    3. When do we think they'll blow up HLN and turn it into something that isn't 79% true crime shows?

Well, earlier this year it was announced that they renewed Forensic Files II for two more seasons, so it looks like we might be stuck with HLN's current formula for 2 more years.

Fox has been pretty brutal in past disputes though in cutting off Hulu and FoxNow to customers of a disputed provider (and they forced a TNF game off NFLN because of a Dish dispute), which is why I'd like to know, especially if those customers use the 7-day free trial to round it, if they force the league to pull that offer and make it TV/ST-exclusive. At least with the other companies you have a streaming alternative, but FoxNow is it for them.

I think as streaming becomes more prevalent, the tactic of pulling content to certain providers due to disputes will happen less and less. I remember when Viacom did it to everybody during the DirecTV dispute of 2012 and only stopped when Jon Stewart criticized them.

The time in 2019 when FOX blacked out TNF on NFLN because of the Dish dispute led to them resolving rather quickly.

  8. I think all debates should be public domain.  During 2019, CNN had two democratic debates, and they didn't even bother uploading live to YouTube or upload it after it was done. They even put copyright claims on people giving commentary about the debates. People should have easy access to the potential nominee's takes on hot-button issues.

Neil Cavuto is the only one at that network that I can tolerate watching, him and Bret Baier, however Baier does show a bit of right-leaning bias from time to time. Both shows, however, typically run pretty straight with very little radical right veer.

Cavuto is almost like the Neal Boortz of television, just a little less radical. It surprises me that FOX keeps him on the roster given their increasing urge to be Tucker Carlson 24/7 on all shows. If there's one thing I can give the man credit for, he doesn't spit out bullshit for the sake of ratings to pander to a misinformed and uneducated community.

Meanwhile, Baier plays the clearly Republican news man but presents the news in a way that doesn't just completely alienate a certain demographic, and while he has opinionists on his program, he has been known to interject other arguments and even have someone with an alternative view on to interject. His "All-Star Panel" has usually, mostly, featured three people and only one of them, if at all, is typically Democrat. I'd say Baier knows how to skirt the line to keep the network happy but tries to create a semblance of a news show on a non-news extremely right-wing political network. He calls his show "fair, balanced, and unafraid" and I would say that mostly Special Report fills that bill, or at least it's the closest you're going to get on FOX besides Cavuto.

Once Baier and Cavuto leave though, if that ever happens, FOX "News" will be 24/7 right-wing spin.

Agree with everything you said. There's no hope left if or when Cavuto and Baier leave.

The sad part is that Andy and Jerry think that’s true. I actually think that Jerry drags down the show.

The problem is The Talk has had so much turnover and controversy over the past few years that it doesn't help the show's ratings and reputation.

  11. In other PXP News, Chris Vosters replaced Pat Foley on Blackhawks games, Dan Dunleavy will now call every Sabres game, replacing Rick Jeanneret, and Dan Robertson is the new announcer for the Winnipeg Jets, replacing Dennis Beyak. All three, as well as Spaulding, are tough acts to follow.

There should be some degree of transparency when these contracts are due to expire, and ample warning if an agreement has not been reached yet.

Yeah, there was no warning whatsoever in the final hours, where as other disputes it's public knowledge in the days leading up.

  13. I think this will be one to watch. Dish claims that Disney wants a billion dollar increase, but it's been revealed that ESPN is a must-have channel and is one of the few channels remaining that keeps people from cutting the cord. There's a lot of backlash from Dish on social media. Will Dish cave or will this dispute last for months as Dish tries to keep customer's bills low?
