I miss Larry King Live. If CNN had a LKL type a show with newsmakers, celebs, and take phone calls like LK done over the years, they would've gotten out

of the ratings slump. It's just my opinion

Agreed. Larry was the face of CNN for decades. Why not put a show similar to it in the 9 PM hour? It would be different than what FOX and MSNBC do in that timeslot and CNN pretty much rehashes the same headlines with a different anchor every hour.

  2. Hasn't Oz's show pretty much had low ratings for a while but only stays on because of how cheap it is to produce? With his campaign announcement and stations dropping it for obvious reasons, why not drop it everywhere, have the affiliates run a different show for a few months, and then his daughter's show can replace it on every one of the stations it airs?

  3. It looks like there are no plans for Tegna stations to return to Dish at this point.

A few weeks ago, Dish filed an FCC complaint arguing that TEGNA was not negotiating in good faith. TEGNA calls Dish's claims "Baseless".

Charlie Ergen said earlier today that the loss of TEGNA stations might be permanent, and they have a better shot of reaching a long term deal with Sinclair, as they're larger. Sinclair has agreed to several extensions since August.

No. It should run Friday & Saturday nights for three hours. You clearly don't understand why. But those are the only two nights it works.

The current Abrams, Larkin show is a DUD. Get rid of it immediately. It has zero chance of ever being successful.

Live PD is the only show that would put NewsNation on the map. But like A&E was doing, many other shows related to it would be created because of it. NewsNation would have to rebuild itself around those shows. Live PD is the only show that will put NewsNation on the map. Otherwise it will continue to be a utterly complete failure & joke of the broadcast news industry.

Put Live PD on and maybe revive its spinoffs and Newsnation will be in the top 10 in the ratings. It would probably one of the few things needed to keep a cable/satellite subscription as it would offer something no other network or streaming service would have. Do the 9-midnight slot Fridays and Saturdays and re-air it from midnight-3 AM, and maybe run highlights of last week's shows before the new episode airs, just like A&E did. The ratings would be on par with live sports that evening. It was that way until its cancellation.

Sad news out from Boston.....Long time Boston Red Sox analyst for NESN, and former MLB player Jerry Remy has sadly passed away Saturday night from his long battle of cancer. As a Red Sox fan, this devastated me, and Sox games on TV will never be the same. RIP RemDawg.

Such a shame. Remy was not just a legend in Boston, but baseball broadcasting in general. He will be sorely missed. R.I.P. Jerry.

Because Scott and Jeff did so well ratingswise when they were in the chair … not gonna happen.

Unfortunately, Norah is struggling in the ratings as well. I wonder which news anchor has the best chance of getting the CBSEN out of it's long-troubled 3rd place rating?

Wendy Williams is back on next Monday...but with guest hosts as she continues to recover.

Sadly, there gets to be a point where for her affiliates, DebMerc better just name a permanent guest host or give the time back. Guest hosts rotating in and out has only made the repeats they have age worse than most.

I wouldn't be surprised if she never returns, as she's had so many health problems over the last few years, she'd be probably there one day and not the next day.

It is always usually the broadcaster that is at fault here but Dish has taken RSNs and other high priced channels off lately because of " low viewership". So this time I blame Dish as well. Dish still wishes they would have merged with Directv in 2002.

They used the low viewership excuse for the RSN'S, WGN America/Newsnation,(twice), the ViacomCBS channels, (which was settled before a blackout could happen) and the AMC Networks in 2012, (even though Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and the Walking Dead were among the most popular shows at the time.

About the only way I can watch Matt Amodio's run on Jeopardy.

This means that WTOL and WUPW are gone, and with the uncertainty of the Sinclair dispute, WNWO may be gone as well. So that means 3 stations with big 4 programming will be off if these companies pull their programming. This needs to end. I hope the new FCC will step in on these disputes. They probably won't though.

I did find it interesting that they have "Live PD night" on Banfield almost every Friday night where they interview former officers from the show along with other members of law enforcement. The most surprising thing is that they openly use the "Live PD" name on the segment branding and have not yet (to my knowledge) received a Cease & Desist from either A&E or Big Fish Entertainment (not sure which party owns the rights to the name of the show). I would have figured they would have been hit with a C&D pretty quickly, unless of course they already obtained the rights to the show name without a public announcement being made yet. 👀

A&E owned the copyright, and Big Fish produced it, so I'm thinking Big Fish has the rights to the Live PD name.

Gee, I wonder who made that argument like a year ago 🤔

NewsNation was destined to be a failure before it even started. It will never amount to anything but being the biggest joke ever conceived by a TV station group owner.

Now, they're trying to court the Live PD audience for Dan Abrams news analysis show by throwing "Sticks" on it. Just moronic. These fools at Nexstar couldn't sell ice cream on 110 degree day because they clearly know nothing about marketing. Idiots.

To be honest, I bet Live PD would draw better ratings on NewsNation than any of their programming, as it was number 1 in primetime on its respective days before A&E canned it last year.

That lower 3rd and local ticker combo makes no sense.

Is CBSN next to get its refresh? I noticed the YT thumbnail has changed.

I've noticed this on some of my smart TV apps as well. I don't think CBSN has had a graphics change since its launch.

I am betting Nate and the new studio will debut on September 7 or 13. It is common to see those changes go into effect when the new season starts (which tends to be the day after Labor Day or the Monday after LD).

However, with all the news going on rn, I wouldn’t totally be surprised to see him debut this week.

It was originally going to be Sept. 13 according to TV Newser.

Frankly, I think they're afraid to cut ties with the loyal viewers of Blue Bloods and Last Man Standing, as they get higher ratings and ad revenue than the news!

There'd be lots of complaints if they interrupt Blue Bloods or Last Man Standing, even though they're reruns.

    LeVar. Was. Not. Good.

Middle of the pack, at best. Some journalist online said it best when Burton initially hosted; "his desire to host exceeded his ability."

He wasn't terrible, but he just seemed nervous. Stumbling over his words and getting too excited during responses. They should've given him two weeks. I had high expectations for him.
