  1. Ducis Rogers is doing a "Sports Minute" segment during the 4:00. A countdown clock above the bug ticks down from 1:00 until the end. It's essentially just a tease for the 5:00 and 6:00 sportscasts, but still, I think this might be the first time the 4:00 has actually had a sports segment (assuming this is permanent). I think 29 does something like this.

  2. I've been seeing promos for an "Action News Update" on 6abc.com and their streaming apps. It airs at 11:30p. I have a few questions, though:

    • Why are they doing this at 11:30p? The Olympics aren't even scheduled to end until midnight.
    • Why are they doing this before the actual 11p is over? Normally they run the close at 11:32 or 11:33.
    • Are they doing this on weekends, too? The Saturday 11p show ends at midnight, and the Sunday ends at 11:45.
    • Did they do this in 2016 too?
  3. Here are the launch groups for Relative Justice with Rhonda Wills, produced by Wrigley Media Group (includes my speculation on the Philadelphia area):

    • CBS Television Stations (this would be either KYW or WPSG... WPSG could air it anywhere from 6a to 8a, and KYW could at 2:37a; neither are good timeslots)
    • Sinclair Broadcast Group
    • Nexstar Media Group (WPHL; could air at 10:30a/4:30p, 11a/4p, or 11:30a/5p, as three court shows air in those timeslots twice)
    • E.W. Scripps Company
    • Tegna Inc.
    • Weigel Broadcasting
    • Gray Television

I believe this is the first show produced by Wrigley Media Group; it will be the first syndicated show to be produced in Kentucky, where the company is headquartered. An abandoned movie theater was converted into the show's studio. Lou Dennig will serve as executive producer; he has worked on several successful court shows like Judge Judy, Divorce Court, and Judge Joe Brown.

I don't meant to derail the conversation, but FightGuy42 on YouTube has uploaded an Action News broadcast from June 29, 1977. We get to see a young Jim Gardner, Jim O'Brien doing the weather, and Steve Levy doing the sports. Sadly, the video cuts off at the end so we can't hear MCTYW in all it's 1970's glory. But this is still a nice treat to find.

That closing story was… something else! 😂

It seems like 6 has either stopped using or has gotten rid of its personal StormTracker radar site (which was based in Warrington, PA). They've stopped referencing their "Live Double Scan" radar and only ever use the NWS radar sites using the MAX Weather System (their radar was controlled and presented on air with Baron software). I'm wondering if this was a pandemic cost cutting casualty.

Cecily referred to the radar as "Storm Tracker 6 Double Scan Live" last night. I don't know how to tell the difference between the two radars but I still regularly hear them call it their own radar. The graphic says "Storm Tracker 6 LIVE" too.

Yeah WCCB actually aired the CW Springer at 2 for a while until last year.

I can get why WCCB would air it at a different slot since they used to be Fox so they have "better" programming - are they the only CW affiliate that airs Ellen?

I don’t think they have said what week the CW stops programming Jerry Springer from 3-4pm (1-2 for WCCB) but I guess it would be September 27 since the CW starts their Saturday night programming October 2.

WPSG airs it at 1p too. I always thought that was the normal time - I know Robert Irvine and Bill Cunningham were in the 3p slot, though.

I read that Highway Thru Hell is going to air 5 days a week from B&C article and that Top 10 & SOS How To Survive gets the weekend run.

You Bet Your Life is the only promo I have seen for the fall no time given from WXMI Fox17 as I said in the other thread.

Interesting. I imagine it will air on mostly CW and MNTV stations. Maybe WPSG could get it at 1p to replace the CW Daytime Springer run.

WTXF has not said the time they’ll be airing YBYL either.

  9. Is Ted Greenberg the new weekend evening anchor? During last night’s tornado warning coverage he was on, and I’ve seen him on the past few weekends.

EDIT: Actually, last weekend he was not. Tracy Davidson was.

It seems like the type of show that will be on weekends only. Like Weather Gone Viral and Wipeout.

I agree. I think it will probably be on the same stations as Weather Gone Viral too, since they are both The Weather Channel shows. Currently, WPSG airs WGV at 2p on Saturdays. AFAIK, Wipeout airs on WPVI at 2a on Sunday mornings, although I doubt HTH will go to any ABC O&O's.

I looked on the Katz spreadsheet and I couldn’t really tell. It did say it would be an hour long.

Yes, it is an hour long. The Weather Channel currently airs it a lot on the weekends. Maybe it will be in weekend syndication too?

I thought Rick and Sarah were doing the noon a while ago?  When did Matt and Tamala stop anchoring the noon?

I know they probably did but I don't ever remember Matt and Tamala anchoring at noon. Rick and Monica would anchor at noon when they did the morning news, but when they switched to nights, I think Rick and Sarah (who were previously not together) became the noon team. If Matt and Tamala did anchor together, it would have to have been between 2004/2005 and 2007

  13. Curious to see where You Bet Your Life will go on WTXF. While it was stated that most stations were airing it between 5p and 8p, I think they might air a double run at 4p. If they're not continuing with Judge Judy after she goes into just reruns, they'll have to find something for the 4:00 slot. A 4p newscast could also be the replacement (KYW, WCAU, WPVI, and even WFMZ already have them).

  14. Interesting fill-in: Bob Brooks is in for Brian Taff at noon (Sarah said Taff will be along "later on"). I wonder why they don't have Matt or Tamala sub at noon? WFMZ and KYW do it (WFMZ's morning newscast is actually longer, running from 5am to 10am whereas 6's runs from 4am to 7am).

  15. What I know for Philadelphia so far (will make an updated post later this summer).

    KYW

    No known changes

    WPVI

    No known changes

    WCAU

    No known changes

    WTXF

Pictionary at 1p for this week and next week (25WOL moves to 12:30 and 1:30)

Nick Cannon at 12p (displaces The Feed AT Night replay and Judge Judy rerun)

You Bet Your Life (timeslot unknown)

    WPHL

Young Sheldon premieres on September 27 (timeslot unknown; 6:30p is my guess but that could be wrong)

    WPSG

Botched reruns at noon (at least temporarily), replacing Jerry Springer (the CW Daytime episode still airs at 1p but that will be gone soon too)

That is not correct. She began regularly working weekends in February 2014, which was 7 years ago. 9 years ago was 2012, and Rob Jennings was still doing weekends solo then. She didn't do weekend mornings either (at least not as recently as 9 years ago). She said it on Twitter too, not sure what she is talking about.
