The Ever-Evolving Gray Graphics Situation...Thread
HSV cheesehead replied to NEOMatrix's topic in Graphics
That seems like a missed opportunity with branding, if they went with blue, it would go perfectly with their call sign, as 99% of people associate cold (KOLD) with the color blue. Also, finally a station west of the Rockies makes the switch. (although there aren't that many in that direction anyways) -
I can only speak for Atlanta, but WAGA, a FOX O&O has been in second place in the ratings and has long been on WSB's tail for first. This might be a possibility for the similarities. Same thing to a lesser extent with Gray owned WANF/WPCH (similarities to GrayONE) although to a lesser extent.

Does that remind anyone else of the Hearst Diagrid?

Its about dam(insert another letter) time!!! Now if only they would get a top down upgrade of that set.

Is this thread for just anything related to news in Atlanta now? If so, we might as well change the name of the thread.

WBRC now has SEVEN meteorologists!
HSV cheesehead replied to tyrannical bastard's topic in The Weather Lab
Since this thread is revived, it is worth mentioning WBRC now has eight meteorologists, albeit one primarily works on the Alabama Telemundo cluster (I am just guessing). See it for yourself: https://www.wbrc.com/page/meet-the-team/ screenshot -

They must be getting the triangle diagrid graphics in the next few months. Meanwhile, the new websites are definitely a huge improvement.

Was this entire operation built from the ground up, or was their already existing staff?

According to the 9am newscast on WANF and this article from WSFA, the games will also air on stations throughout Alabama. The article still does not specify were the games will air on stations in Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile. After doing some digging, I have discovered that the games will air on what ever subchannel that The 365 is on.

United Football League: The Merger of XFL & USFL
HSV cheesehead replied to Action Newsroom's topic in Sport Center
This does not surprise me one bit. Especially since many don't even understand the difference between the two, other than the fact that they are both just football in the spring or summer. -

Are you suggesting a KCAL vs. KCBS type situation here? If you are, I like it! -

They'll probably switch in the new year. Additionally I think we'll see alot of stations getting GrayONEd once fresh content enters the primetime schedule. (Late January into February with the super bowl (CBS Affiliates)) -
This new sports network could be for any or all Gray stations, it is just another possibility.

I didn't realize WAFF was using the third music cut until August, or did the just start using it again? -
Viacom is dead, long live Paramount...
HSV cheesehead replied to TheOneManHerd's topic in Corporate Chat
Yes, I do, and this is just based off of scrolling thru Wikipedia, not firsthand knowledge. -

That brings me to this: As many of you know WAFF has been using two different packages; The Rock & Inergy. You can now add a third to that list, its either production music or a cut of Stream (please correct me if i am wrong, this has been driving me crazy for months). My evidence is below Screen_Recording_20231207_124614_VUit.mp4 -

I would say either Nexstar or Gray. -

Along with removing the peacock, is Gray removing any music containing the NBC Chimes? -
WAAY Hires Rob Sneed as Weekend Anchor, Managing Editor and Reporter This is an interesting move. Sneed previously was at WGN, a respected station in Chicago, is now working weekends at the third place station in Huntsville, AL.

Could that mean CBS News finally becoming a top player? Possibly, but not likely. -

Can't believe I didn't think about this before, but perhaps their software has yet to be updated so they changed the graphics to something that was similar so it is less stark of a change when they do get GrayONE.
