SuitSnob 19
How about Storm Field? Wonder if he is still looking for postion?? I'd take him over the bumbling fools on now. If Storm wants an on-camera job, he needs to start dressing like he gives a damn. cbs2idiots 24
This station dosent make sense. If they are slashing the budget how come they have 3 weather personalites during the week. Then they have an opening on the weekends. Are they looking to hire someone else or to move John Bolaris to weekends. My best bet is John will be out when his contract ends in december because I dont think he want to be second fiddle to Quinn or Elliot. But this is CBS2 all things are possible. civic110 18
Quinn should be on weekends. Why toy with the 6/11 by removing such a familiar face after putting on so many unfamiliar faces? They got rid of Audrey, and JB will soon follow I'm sure. How do you start on a new station and automatically become number one weather person? Normally you start on weekends and work your way up. Ridiculous. As soon as WCBS tries to take a step forward, they go right back by ten steps again. After watching Quinn once, I think he's an airhead. But we'll see. Maybe airhead is too strong...I don't know. He seems to get along with everyone. I think I just need time to warm up to him a little. I didn't like Heidi Jones at first either, but now I think she's awesome. News Watcher 0
When I saw him sitting at the desk I was wondering why Sam Champion was sitting there. The guy is from Connecticut and lived and worked here, albiet on soaps, so it isn't like the guy is not a local. I say we give him a chance! qwertynyc 0
Lonnie made a comment at the end of his weathercast a 6 that he and JB were going to be tag-teaming the weather coverage of the impending Nor'easter this weekend. He pounded on the anchor desk and said "his boss Bolaris" was making him cover the storm in the rain at the far end of Long Island, while John got to spend it in a dry studio. He said John's the boss and he has to do what Bolaris wants. Other observations: he makes weird faces and tries to chime in too much with Ducis, Dana and Jim to bring the attention back to himself. He acts like a morning personality, not an evening weather guy. He's just got a cushy job now, not having to hang around till 11:35 each night. He'll be kind of like what Bryan Norcross was at WFOR. SuitSnob 19
OK, why did they hire this guy for the prime broadcasts? He is clearly an entertainer, as someone else posted he would be good for mornings. John Elliot is a bit of a clown (as was Dave Price) but at least they were under control!!! Are you telling me they jettisoned Jeff Berardelli and reduced John Bolaris' on-air presence for THIS?!?! Maybe Lonnie could work on Fox5, but next to professionals like Jim Rosenfield, Dana Tyler and Ducis Rodgers? I don't think so. I felt like my kindergarten teacher brought in Bongo the Funny Weatherman into the class as a guest speaker. His suit was better tonight though...a bit fashion forward and flashy but nice. At this point I think we need to classify Lee Goldberg as Local Weather God. Smart, charming, a great presenter and the best-dressed man on local news. username23 1
He was a morning weatherman at WTVJ, WCBS just felt the need to take him out of his element as they always do. In any case, I disagree, he is not a "Bongo the Funnyman", but rather an actor turned weather forecaster. WCBS clearly felt that the presentation of their weather forecasts needed some spousing and would be better handled by an actor. I believe that we need to give him a chance to do good or poorly. Let's hold him to his skills during this impending Noreaster and hold him to do good field work. civic110 18
He seems to love to jump around a lot. He dances in front of the weather maps and makes all sorts of arm/hand motions. The talking is incredibly fast. He loves to banter with Dana & Jim even as they're trying to move on. This is just nuts. cbs2idiots 24
He needs to stop pointing and moving his hands so much. Also he need to keep is head steady at the anchor desk and at the maps. Give him a chance though until making a judgment. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/1019-lonnie-quinns-weather/page/2/#findComment-8577 Share on other sites
TellyGenic 33
His presentation was far too caffeinated for the 11:00 news last night. No one wants to see all that jumping around just before bedtime. And in his over-eagerness, he stumbled over words, bungled the throw back to Rosenfield, and talked over the anchors. He really needs to calm down before going on the air. It's just too much at that hour. moshewx 19
Bolaris may still be chief meteorologist and only do 1 show a day, but was it by his choice? Did he want this reduction in duties? And never get used to anybody over at WCBS folks. Certainly no certainty they'll be there tomorrow. NYNews 54
Quinn's bio is up and i'm looking at his bio pic and the similarity between him and Sam Champion is insane. SuitSnob 19
My god...has this guy ever heard of a TAILOR?!??! He clearly buys his suits off the rack, and does not know his size...the back of his suit coat was hanging behind his shirt collar at least five inches...he looks like a teenage boy borrowing Dad's suit for a date. And he is wearing sport shirts not intended to be worn with a suit or tie (like Chris Wragge used to). This is just pathetic. username23 1
wow, guts for doing the live shot in this weather. Yes, we've all seen the hurricane specials where the reporters are getting blown away, but they are done with sat trucks which do not require putting a 40 foot mast in the air for a signal as does this shot which is done with microwave. Putting a mast up in this weather is EXTREMELY dangerous because it becomes essentially a 40 foot lightening rod. Also, if heavy winds start to come, that pole will shake and you risk a tip over of the live truck. So props to Lonnie and the crew that went with him. sonora 0
Yeah, really great job for almost getting electrocuted. Please. They probably took a sat truck anyway. How do you know they used a microwave unless you were on the desk or part of the crew? ???
