Greg Kelly has reportedly taken a leave of absence pending the trial. Steve Lacy will continue to fill in for Kelly until further notice.

This is what makes it all seem so suspicious (from WABC):

ABC News has learned that a series of communications between the accuser and Greg Kelly took place following the alleged sex assault and they have raised serious questions about the allegations.

According to multiple sources the accuser reached out to Kelly after the incident seeking to maintain contact with him. According to those sources, at least the initial communication was not accusatory.

The much older boyfriend of the about 30 year old woman who accused TV host Greg Kelly of rape, became jealous and, according to two sources, when he discovered a series of emails back and forth between the two that occurred following the alleged sexual assault, and which appear to have been initiated by the accuser.

According to sources familiar with the investigation the accuser, who works at a law firm as a paralegal, told law enforcement officials that she texted Kelly after the incident, according to sources and in one message asked why he had not called.

Sources close to the investigation tell ABC News this evening that the accuser told investigators she had become pregnant as a result of the encounter with Kelly and had terminated the pregnancy. Investigators were attempting to establish whether that was accurate.

It looks to me like a shakedown/ blackmail situation. And yet Greg Kelly still gets his names smeared.

I always thought people suspected or accused of crimes should not have their names released on public records. And just as the media does not report names of victims of violent crimes, they should not report names of those accused until they are convicted. People are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty yet the power of our law enforcement agencies and the media often pave the way for accused persons to be found guilty in the court of public opinion. People will always remember that a person is accused of committing a crime. Rarely do people remember if the person is found to be innocent.

And to make matters worse, two Muslim civil rights groups calling for Raymond Kelly's resignation for appearing in “The Third Jihad" and one poilce station showed a copy of it to about 1,500 officers in a public room. (This happened on the same day of Greg Kelly matter).
