Weeters 1969 Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Looks nothing like a Belo open, and more like a gerneric HotHaus mock. KXJB uses it, too: [yt]f8u7bNX_wTQ[/yt] Oh my god that open is.... :puke:
Samantha 2902 Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Oh my god that open is.... :puke: And of course their news van just has to be in their parking lot.
Mrtraveler01 738 Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 It's the latter. The font WVIR used completely ruined the VDO package altogether. WVIR and WBBH have the same owners (Waterman Broadcasting), you would've thought that WVIR could've just copied the exact package that WBBH had without any modifications. WPSD uses this same package and seems to do a better job of it even though they aren't owned by Waterman.
WXmanTim 88 Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 (Off-topic, so feel free to flame away) Ack. This kind of producing drives me absolutely batshit crazy. Why do a headlines bump in before and after the open? Ugh. Lazy lazy lazy producing.
NewsMaster 226 Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Another station that uses those graphics is . Overall it's an OK look.
NewsMaster 226 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Here we go! This is KQDS in Duluth, MN. What's worse is that these are fairly new graphics for them. http://www.fox21online.com/sites/default/files/Evening%20Update%2010-21-14.mp4
sanewsguy 514 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Here we go! This is KQDS in Duluth, MN. At least they are not using the Fox 1998 package for their music like their sister ... (KVRR's graphics aren't bad but they'd be so much better if they could use fonts other than Tahoma or Impact)
SFTV 532 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Here we go! This is KQDS in Duluth, MN. What's worse is that these are fairly new graphics for them. http://www.fox21online.com/sites/default/files/Evening%20Update%2010-21-14.mp4 Love the FOX 21 bug. Almost looks o&o (but backwards) but they could've done better with the font in the lower thirds but everything else needs more TLC on the rest of the graphics.
Samantha 2902 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Yeah...they're a touch too basic, though they work. The big problem with them seems to be finding appropriate typefaces.
Leavellebrett 85 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Well, for the market size it's not bad. At least they are not using the Fox 1998 package for their music like their sister ... (KVRR's graphics aren't bad but they'd be so much better if they could use fonts other than Tahoma or Impact) Those KVRR graphics almost look like a knock-off of Sinclair's Daily News graphics.
tyrannical bastard 4033 Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Well, it looks like Gray is about to seriously overhaul KALB....by the looks of their website. www.kalb.com. I've been less than impressed with most of Gray's on-air products, but this looks to be a massive improvement over what they've had over the last few years under Hoak. And it makes sense that they would totally blow up any remaining resemblance to their days as a Media General station....they compete against each other in a lot of places....

tyrannical bastard 4033 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 That's a revostock.com template. and for only $60?!?!?!?!?!
Viper550 292 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I think Quincy does have a somewhat standardized package that they, presumably, put more than $60 into. Though it does look a little old by now; betting there will probably be a new standardization for all their stations post-merger.
TheNewsFan 1 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I think WJAN has copied the BBC graphics for their 11pm open.
TheRolyPoly 2593 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I think WJAN has copied the BBC graphics for their 11pm open. Wait, you mean America Teve in Miami? If so, then I gotta check it out myself.
TheRolyPoly 2593 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I think WJAN has copied the BBC graphics for their 11pm open. It's similar for their 6:00 p.m. open/newscast.
Mrtraveler01 738 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 WINK has new lower 3rds. Anyone care to guess who they're imitating? http://www.winknews.com/2015/02/06/wink-news-investigates-whos-driving-your-childs-bus/

Daybreak 289 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 WINK has new lower 3rds. Anyone care to guess who they're imitating? http://www.winknews.com/2015/02/06/wink-news-investigates-whos-driving-your-childs-bus/ Isn't this like the 2nd or 3rd time WINK knocked off graphics. I know before this package, they had copied NBC package (Look F) if I'm not mistaken.
Hexagonal10 84 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Look F is like, legit. But like, a 2 piece package?
Mrtraveler01 738 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Isn't this like the 2nd or 3rd time WINK knocked off graphics. I know before this package, they had copied NBC package (Look F) if I'm not mistaken. Yep. I guess after cross-town competitor WBBH unveiled their Look F lookalike package, WINK decided they needed something else. They're still using Look F for everything else which makes it look real awkward. You can watch the stream on their homepage and judge for yourself: http://www.winknews.com/.
