DirtyHarry 727
Yep. WMUR, WMTW, WVTM and WJCL were the stations that Hearst bought since the Pulitzer deal, and except for WMUR you're exactly right. WLWT aint so hot, either. Mrtraveler01 738
Nice find. it looks like they were testing the new graphics. This means that they'll switch fairly soon. LTSC1980 112
Wow. They changed smartphone look and also abandoned Alabama's 13 branding. sanewsguy 511
Does anyone know if KXAN will get new graphics, now that they are owned by Media General? They may be "owned by Media General" now but remember the new MG is basically a continuation of the former LIN. So I doubt we'll see much change there as they are a legacy LIN station. They are due for a refresh though. But knowing LIN I doubt giving KXAN a new look is high on their list of priorities right now. tyrannical bastard 3962
KXAN and WALA's packages are very similar...KXAN's is built arond X's and WALA's uses circles and curves. Both share a similar color palette and font style and were Giant Octopus packages. Even the WNCN package shares some similarities to KXAN. Any idea who created it? GAnews 2
I've noticed that Hearst seems to favor branding by call letters so the rebranding to WVTM 13 doesn't surprise me Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/13403-lin-is-merging-with-media-general/page/12/#findComment-124156 Share on other sites

WESH 2 News, KCRA 3 News, WLKY News, KCCI 8 News, WCVB NewsCenter 5, WISN 12 News, etc... They love call signs, don't they ? KevCor 344
Is it a possibility that WAVY will lose their signature theme, or will MG force them into their group theme? WAVY has used Newswire for 20 years, and just recently had it refreshed by 615... Doubtful. In fact, many of LIN's former stations including WIAT and WKBN are picking up 615 themes (WKBN actually went back to one!) Only a couple of the legacy stations use the old JDK theme from 2006. And the Stephen Arnold "Canvas" theme used on most of the other legacy stations is used on non-MG stations like WALB, KAMR, and even WBIN. WJAR and WVTM use it too, but expect it to be phased out when Sinclair and Hearst make their respective changes. mike91 67
The only MG station I would worry about losing their theme is WHTM (Gari's Empire). Most of the New Vision acquisitions were using Gari and all have since switched to Stephen Arnold or 615. William1111 41
So it seems like WVTM has switched it's logos, graphics, and branding on their website and social media pages. Nothing has changed on air yet. https://www.facebook.com/WVTM13 http://alabamas13.com http://twitter.com/WVTM13 And they have WVTM13.com registered, but as of today; it's just a redirect to Alabamas13.com Meanwhile WJCL has had no Hearst-ization from what i can see (other than the copyrights being updated on the newscast closing and website) Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/13403-lin-is-merging-with-media-general/page/12/#findComment-125122 Share on other sites

TheRolyPoly 2466
By the way, the only Hearst stations that don't use their call sign for news branding is KSBW, WGAL, WPTZ / WNNE, WTAE, KOAT and KHBS / KHOG. Out of those stations, only WPTZ / WNNE and KHBS / KHOG don't use their callsigns at all, even if its for general purposes. Samantha 2896
Media General is buying back up to $120m in shares with the proceeds from the sale of WJAR. Breaking News 834
Questions about Young Broadcasting when they were in operation. Were they a company that was cheap? They seem to keep the main faces on their evening news around. Remember Darla Montgomery, left KLFY for KATC to come back to KFLY and got some more money. Before they went in debt for KRON which parallelized them, but they seem to keep their other stations stable, but wonder more about them if anybody knew more about them, and they let their stations do news. WKRN was a strong #3, but a few times their late news was #2 a few times in the early 2000s.
