Spring Rubber 716 Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I'm not surprised but am sad to see him go. The entire WGN weekend team, save for Jackie Bange, has retired within 18 months.

Georgie56 3326 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I loved that weekend team. Jackie, Bob, Jim, Rich. THE weekend team to watch in Chicago. I always watched the News at Nine on Sundays on WGNA while I was away from Chicago, especially the Sunday 9pm newscasts. Instant Replay is basically unwatchable online now because it's blacked out for most of the show. Part of me wonders when Dan Roan will hang it up. 1

24994J 5629 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Feder hinted this morning that there will be another retirement announcement in Chicago media by the end of the year. Whether or not it's someone from WGN is unclear. There admittedly isn't a long list of retirement-aged personalities left among the 5 stations, so it might be quick to predict, unless, of course, it's someone from behind the scenes, print, or radio.
Georgie56 3326 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Just thought you should know that Kristi Ikemire is WGN's motion designer. She does a good job at it, too. http://www.kristiikemire.com/
Georgie56 3326 Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 They put Paul back in front of the video wall for a weather segment today. 1
alex979 119 Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 WGN didn’t have a sports reporter in today. It’s Christmas and no Chicago teams played today, but I can’t remember the last time that happened.
Spring Rubber 716 Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 I am having a hard time remembering that tonight is Jim's final night. I'm tempted to set a reminder on my phone to remember to watch. 3
Georgie56 3326 Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Wonder who's replacing him. Maybe McGill? Hamernik? 2
Spring Rubber 716 Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Wonder who's replacing him. Maybe McGill? Hamernik? It's gotta be one of them, right? At least in the interim? Sounds like they haven't hired a replacement, and it sounds like they won't do so immediately.
24994J 5629 Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Throw Mike Janssen into the mix. He fills in for Jim most often. 5

Georgie56 3326 Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 They all look like they have a few years left in the tank. 1
24994J 5629 Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Something you don't see everyday...Amy Rutledge anchored the first 30 minutes of the 4 o'clock news today with Ben, but was losing her voice. It was so bad that the 4:30 half hour had Jackie Bangs coming out of the bullpen. Weeknight Jackie doesn't happen often enough.

Jackie continues with the 5pm hour in for Micah.
Georgie56 3326 Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Weekday Jackie Bange? That's extremely rare. 5
Spring Rubber 716 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 It's Mike Janssen with the weather tonight. 2
24994J 5629 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 They didn't air last Sunday, but they are airing a 3-person talent bump, like the weeknight shows. 3
Spring Rubber 716 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 It's kind of funny how dedicated they are to the incomplete talent bumps. Back when everybody did talent bumps, most stations wouldn't air one if they had a vacancy on a particular newscast.

Oh, you mean like how channel 7 is missing 7 (soon to be 9) of their 14 talent rejoins? 3
Spring Rubber 716 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Oh, you mean like how channel 7 is missing 7 (soon to be 9) of their 14 talent rejoins? Are they really? Which ones still exist?
24994J 5629 Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Are they really? Which ones still exist? The 11a, 5p, and weekend 5, 6 & 10. The 6 and 7p will go away with Jerry. They shot those new opens nearly a year ago, but without Sanders, Jordan, Rivera, and a future meteorologist.
Spring Rubber 716 Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 They are doing some experimenting tonight. Tom Negovan is doing the night shift tonight while Ben Bradley is live in studio doing reports. 2
