Jase 1065 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 (edited) WFLD unveiled a different color set/skin of the FOX O&O graphics today. Most notable change is that Good Day Chicago has, as described by Mike Caplan, a ‘traditional’ open (delivered by the station’s voiceover announcer) along with new graphic elements. The L3s are a lot more richer/sharper than the previous ones. Edited September 17, 2024 by Jase 1
C Block 1566 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Those are the standard Fox O&O graphics. I don't spot anything different there. There are I think five different skin types of the Fox graphics with a different set of colors. Each one has an internal name that's a fox. I think the one with the light blue accents is called Arctic Fox. 2 1

I do like this one better than the one they used previously. Even the simplicity of the GDC elements are a welcomed improvement. 2
24994J 5619 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 It appears that Arctic Fox is the default for all newscasts, not just GDC.
nathannah 2493 Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 (edited) As of today, it looks like My 50 is no more...just happened to tune into 32's stream to check the weather for Thursday down there, and they showed a Family Feud clip with a local family recorded off the broadcast showing WPWR is now "Fox Chicago +". MyNet airs 11p-1a and is replaced in prime time with a quad block of the Feud. Edited September 24, 2024 by mrschimpf

Speaking of, just saw that family feud local team clip listed in the article with the new 'FOX Chicago +' sign in the bottom right. :25 seconds into the video. https://www.fox32chicago.com/video/1520989 Also @24994J posted the screenshot with the new logo on #fox-box via discord.
TheRolyPoly 2544 Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 WWOR... you're the last to get with the program. 1

Although their current branding is a throwback to the late '80s, it's still unique amongst Fox's MyNetworkTV stations. Fox 26 Plus/Xtra...maybe in the future?

They rebranded around the same time as WFTC did as Fox 9 Plus so they'd probably not rebrand anytime soon and the Houston cluster seems to be in its own other world; an oddball market where FNC has no baggage and KTXH just comfortably exists with little competition outside any plans Scripps and Tegna would have for their station since the Space City teams aren't moving anytime soon.

I think the "My 50 Chicago" branding is no more.

Jase 1065 Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Bears Blitz has made the move upstairs to the newly renovated Studio 32. Not sure if the renovation is complete as this is only part of the overall studio space. Nevertheless, I like what I see. 1
R.R. 96 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 So they’ve updated the lightbox logo on the anchor desk which now has the current logo. Another modification to the set since they redid the BAM in June 1
Jase 1065 Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 (edited) Today marks the first time they have used the windows as a backdrop in Studio 32. Wood elements have replaced the metal/grey ones previously used to give the space a cohesive look with the main studio. Also worth noting is that they swapped out a TV frame monitor on the wall and replaced it with a backlit FOX 32 logo. A much better choice imo. The TV monitor was back in place for Bears Blitz which could suggest they plan to alternate between the logo and monitor depending on the program, etc... Edited November 14, 2024 by Jase
Spring Rubber 714 Posted November 6, 2024 Author Posted November 6, 2024 I like the use of the windows and the backlit logo. Nicely done.

I do wonder what will become of the big moveable video monitor that was used as a divider. Seems like such an expensive unit to never use again (…not that it was used often to begin with). Here’s a better look of the window setup. I like the big desk and decorative screen (despite it covering the view). Edited November 14, 2024 by Jase 1
speed053 38 Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 I took some time to tune in to Fox 32 and noticed that they updated the mic flags. 1

I don't know if it's going to be a full overhaul. Might be a WMAQ type set upgrade. Looks like they have started the 2nd phase of the [ main ] set upgrades you mentioned. For the nearly two weeks; they have been using their secondary studio (Studio 32) for all newscasts. No word on when they will move back to the main studio nor the full scope of work being done. 2
24994J 5619 Posted February 18 Posted February 18 The WMAQ-type redo sounds plausible. Leave home base and (probably) the stage left stand-up, but spruce up the interview set and repurpose the 4th wall with the little nook. For the record, they did do the 9pm news from the interview set desk on Thursday(?), last week, so they hadn't completely abandoned the space, at that point. 1

I want to say over the past three weeks, they stopped using certain areas (green screen, faux windows on both sides, etc...) as if they were clearing out one side before moving to the opposite side. One could argue the overall set was fine (it's less than 8 yrs old) and has held up very well. And while I liked what they did to Studio 32, I'm not sure I would like it on a larger scale. That said, I'm hoping for something different than that for the main studio. 1
Jase 1065 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 (edited) They moved back to home base and unveiled a new desk (identical to WTTG). Not sure if they’re finished with the studio/set remodel (the lighting appears off…lots of shadows, etc…) While the new desk is nice, it is noticeably lower than the previous one.
