NEOMatrix 1307 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Just thought of this. If and when WOIO flips over to new branding, and music. It won't be Aerial, due the Kent State University TV 2 uses Aerial for its student newscasts. @Myron Falwell might want to chime in on this one. What about using This is the Place? Granted it might get confusing in the Youngstown DMA where WOIO is still carried because of WFMJ using TITP. However, WKBN uses Enforcer (albeit different cuts from WOIO) and they're BOTH carried in the city.

tyrannical bastard 4066 Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 I doubt Kent State's use of it would affect its usage by WOIO. As far as I know, TV2's reach may be limited to Kent's main campus, and maybe no further than Time Warner's Kent system. As for "This is the Place", it's fair game since Cleveland and Youngstown are separate markets. That never stopped WKYC from picking up 615's "Impact" almost a year and a half after WKBN started using it. And at the time, virtually all of the Cleveland stations were available on cable in Warren, firmly in Trumbull county and the Youngstown market.
Mrtraveler01 739 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 They could always use CBS Local if push comes to shove. I'd be shocked if they used anything else besides CBS Local. KFVS also used to have Enforcer and switched to CBS Local within the last month. I just assumed that WOIO would do something similar.

KFVS also used to have Enforcer and switched to CBS Local within the last month. I just assumed that WOIO would do something similar. As did WBTV. As I said before, they've used the "I Love Chicago" signature since 2002 and it seems to have worked, so I wouldn't think that they would change now. We (finally!) have a Raycom station using TITP, and it's WFXG in Augusta. WFXG has its news produced from WTOC if I'm not mistaken.
jmkcool2002 8 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Raycom is investing in a new OTT network which is basically another Travel Channel. It's known as PTA Networks. Raycom will also be responsible for distributing PTA's shows onto linear TV. Will they be sold to a diginet? Will Raycom launch a PTA diginet? Or will Raycom sell PTA shows for broadcast during weekend windows since pre-recorded travel shows probably wouldn't do well on a daily basis. Another option would be to sell to a Disney network like FYI (since Raycom and Disney have a relationship) or to sell the programs to another cable network. I also wonder if PTA will launch a roadtrip show for ACC campuses? http://finance.yahoo.com/news/raycom-media-makes-strategic-investment-150100774.html
mre29 1575 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Other than not being responsive, the new website designs look very nice.
mightynine 290 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 WVUE is using new music on headlines bumps and going to break. Old theme still used for opens and segment intros, like the weather forecast.
Big Country News 435 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 WVUE is using new music on headlines bumps and going to break. Old theme still used for opens and segment intros, like the weather forecast. I'm watching and I hear U-Phonix. I haven't heard one trace of new music.
Samantha 2905 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Speaking of WVUE, this might be relevant if only from a "they still own the station on paper" perspective.
mightynine 290 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Heard it at noon. Maybe it was a test?
Big Country News 435 Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Heard it at noon. Maybe it was a test? Could you make out a signature?
Mrtraveler01 739 Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Speaking of WVUE, this might be relevant if only from a "they still own the station on paper" perspective. Wonder what the plan is after Benson dies. Does Raycom get full control over it or does his wife get it and keep the SSA going with Raycom?
bhratbrat 437 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 At the moment that is the plan considering the latest swap. http://deadspin.com/suit-saints-owner-tom-benson-is-being-manipulated-by-h-1681345399 The daughter and grand-children are suing saying that Gayle is manipulating Mr. Benson. This also has letters stating that the children are out and Gayle is in.
ToriElectra 292 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Meanwhile, I found in this old Inside Edition report about the NAPTE a really old Raycom logo, at 4:07. They don't mention anything else about it, though. Concerning WVUE, I'm guessing Raycom is going to bide it's time to buy VUE until all this legal crap is flushed.
Nelson R. 569 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 WBTV debuted their new set and graphics today. http://imgur.com/qIbh2c8 http://imgur.com/DzpkUtC
tyrannical bastard 4066 Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 A nice upgrade for them. The set is worlds better, and even the graphics are a step up from what they were using. They'll look even better on the other Raycom stations upgrading their current looks. My hopes are up that WOIO can look this good when they relaunch.
NewsMaster 226 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 WBTV debuted their new set and graphics today. http://imgur.com/qIbh2c8 http://imgur.com/DzpkUtC The graphics look like a cross between the Sinclair layout and the Gannett color scheme (without the USA Today colors, of course). I like it.

PelicanGuy 117 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I see WLBT has made the switch to the new look; very nice.
promoguy98 254 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 WLBT is using "The Rock" from Arnold to go along with their new look.
NewsMaster 226 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 WLBT is using "The Rock" from Arnold to go along with their new look. And with it WDBD picks up Convergence, not Extreme. Interesting choice.
TheRolyPoly 2641 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 WLBT is using "The Rock" from Arnold to go along with their new look. I posted a video of the new WLBT look on my YouTube channel. Just search "WLBT - The WLBT 5:00 p.m. Report Open."
