Geoffrey 861
I think some of you guys are reading waaay too much into some of the stuff. I don't think you can figure out what's going on based on the way Dana looks or does not look at Chris. TVNewsWatcher 6
According to some friends who work at WCBS, Jim Rosenfield has been a no-show since hearing of his demotion. His agents are working out things with station management, but it appears as though he is looking to be bought out of his contract. Rosenfield feels screwed, and quite honestly, I can't blame the guy. He gave up a sure thing at WNBC for channel 2. No doubt, it was sheer stupidity on his part, but the dreams of becoming an 11PM anchor in New York can blind people. I wouldn't count on seeing Rosenfield return to the airwaves on WCBS. There's a reason that Wragge isn't "in" for Jim Rosenfield at 6. Interesting enough Chris said In For Jim tonight at 6..It would be nice to see Maurice anchor along side Dana again for noon and 6..but hey, I doubt that will happen.. Jim on the other hand was shifted to another newscast and I guess he does not agree with it. This can get ugly. I don't believe that CBS 2 News endend #1 at 11 on the premiere with Wragge & Empty Headed. Univision beated "God" WABC at 11PM. La Fea Mas Bella was a big hit, even bigger with the finale. So I don't think they' won at 11PM. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/1444-omgthe-changes-read-huffs-column/page/5/#findComment-13573 Share on other sites

Because i am wondering if a contract means anything at CBS2. No, it usually does not stipulate a specific newscast. A contract basically says that the television station will pay X amount of dollars to said person to own the rights to their image, voice and likeness for the station's news production and promotional needs for a certain period of time. This is why it's very simple for an anchor -- like Roz Abrams -- to just be pulled off the air and still be paid through the end of her contract even though she is doing nothing. The station is just not exercising it's right to use her image and likeness. This is also what CBS2 did with Reid Lamberty for the last part of his contract...I think he showed up as a reporter maybe once every two weeks for months on end, and was completely removed from the anchor chair-even as they were making Jim Rosenfield work 6 nights a week...it's nice to see they are rewarding loaylty. hgguy 0
I was able to watch the new promos (which are really great by the way, especially the one with their news theme), but they all ended with Chris/Kristine. About Jim, is his contract over, and if he quits, does he forfeit pay? Dana actually has better chem with Chris. Dana has no choice but to stay. She's old and no other station wants her. I wonder when she said that she was loyal to them, does that mean she takes pay cuts to allow them to keep her on? It can be interpretated in that way. Maybe KCBS would hire her, as Laura Diaz contract is up soon. According to wikipedia(not so reliable) her contract is up summer 2007. Would they hire Dana? I doubt KCBS would hire Dana. Don Corsini loves anchorwomen with fake boobs and lots of botox (hence...Laura Diaz and to some extent Mia Lee). Plus Corsini and ND Nancy Bauer Gonzales are too stupid to hire good experienced talent. Which explains why the ratings are freefalling at the duopoly. Well, KCAL 9 News at 10 beated KTLA, and let's leave that for the LA thread KCBS / KCAL is the 2nd most stable of the Major Market CBS O&O behind KPIX in San Francisco and being in 2nd place doesn't hurt either and it help to a very good programing lineup. There hasn't been a major shake up years( the arrival of Johnny Mountain for weather was 2 1/2 years ago) compared to WCBS, KYW and WBBM; Its a miracle here. I remember reading about the blood bath 14 years at CBS 2 when Jim Jensen and top talent was let go and seeing little change in the ratings( lack of a stable anchor team) WCBS and WBBM needs to find and keep the anchor teams( I know that WBBM demoted Antonio Mora from the 10 PM newscast just recently) Leave the anchor teams alone for a few years, use heavy promotions make it worth the viewers while. Sometimes robbing ABC stations does work though most of the time it doesn't. Its a wonder Dana Tyler didn't quit and either form a production company or work for a P. R. firm , or become a spokesperson for a politician or some government agency, or even become a college professor, maybe an author. Since she is one of the most recognized and respected women in New York Area. She deserves better. She fortunate to have in a career in media or entertainment is unstable and uncertainly is a way of life. On air talent here in LA either leave town or stay and leave the industry That may be an option. Or how about a spot on the View? I am just saying. And another major shakeup at KCBS was when they demoted Harold Greene to the 4 & 6PM, when they hired Paul Magers. WCBS & WBBM need to learn from Nancy Bauer Gonzales/Don Corsini. And the fact that Nancy was News Director for the top-rated newscast in LA from 1997-2002, just speaks for her. canitgetanyworse 0
Another loss? Seems Tanya Rivero's pic/bio have been pulled without any word. That usually means a disagreement of some sort. I thought she was a good g/a reporter; attractive, ethnic and smart. Let's guess why the Three Blind Mice (Peter Dunn, David Friend, Tom Kane) let her go.
