jbnews 344
Hopefully Hearst will update all it's studios now. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14467-wlky-new-studio/#findComment-129830 Share on other sites
LexTVandRadio 418
Has any of the Hearst stations updated recently? I thought WLKY had a nice studio. WHAS could use an update. They've been using the same set from 2005 I think. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14467-wlky-new-studio/#findComment-129831 Share on other sites
MidwestTV 1232
KMBC could really stand to have one. They've had the same set with only very, very minor refreshes to it since they went HD and moved into their new building in 2007. qunewsguy 377
Judging by the back sides of the new anchor desks it'll be another FX job... circle plexi on left, LED lightbox on right. LexTVandRadio 418
That is what I was thinking too. Looks like a small studio too. Another shot of the old one. susquvalleywgal 517
I could care less what they do with the studio ... but please, DO A NEW LOGO. -- Matt Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14467-wlky-new-studio/#findComment-129856 Share on other sites
jbnews 344
Yes, a new logo is needed. And rebranding. No more WLKY 32. Also, does anybody know when it will debut? Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14467-wlky-new-studio/#findComment-130310 Share on other sites
LexTVandRadio 418
Could always go back to Newschannel 32. Maybe just call themselves CBS 32. Haven't seen any updates on the set. jbnews 344
CBS 32 would be good. They should also change their open a little bit and start using the updates to Strive. This would be a good chance to freshen up a bit. Their open could be, Live from Studio (A or whatever they call it) in Louiville, this is the CBS 32 News at 5pm. mike91 67
I highly doubt that they will use a "CBS 32" branding. Hearst loves to use call letters in their stations' brandings. BTW, do they even have HD news yet? It is so sad that such a reputable broadcaster such as Hearst still has quite a few stations not even doing HD news in 2015. LexTVandRadio 418
When I lived in Louisville 2011 WLKY didn't have HD. Just "enhanced" widescreen. WHAS has the same. MidwestTV 1232
How much of a difference is there between SD and "enhanced" SD and how complicated is it to upgrade to it? qunewsguy 377
FX. The plexi "bubble top" desk is a dead giveaway. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14467-wlky-new-studio/#findComment-130830 Share on other sites
rkolsen 1684
I like it. I'm not crazy at the bulge in the desk. I also wonder if they could incorporate those monitors in the newsroom like they do at WPBF. jbnews 344
It's okay. It looks exactly the same as it did before. I was hoping for an actual STUDIO, not the newsroom background. It is a little nicer though. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14467-wlky-new-studio/#findComment-130839 Share on other sites
MidwestTV 1232
FX. The plexi "bubble top" desk is a dead giveaway. I dunno. Looks like it could be a Park Place set because of the hanging curved light boxes above the anchors. WCPO has those exact same looking ones. The "bubble top desk" as you describe it is also similar to KSHB. Plus, the general design of the desk, which kind of L-shaped with that far right piece sticking out, is reminiscent of KGTV. oklahomanewsman 210
If they wanted to rebrand why don't they go back to "WLKY NewsChannel 32" or just "NewsChannel 32" and oh by the way go back to using the voiceover introduction they used until WLKY dropped the "Where The News Comes First" slogan in favor of the "Live. Local. Latebreaking." slogan full time around a decade ago. "This is WLKY NewsChannel 32 Louisville. Now from the station Where The News Comes First. Your Live. Local. Late Breaking Coverage for Greater Louisville starts right now." - Chris Clausen (WLKY Intro was used from around 2000 to 2005) I could be wrong though.
