It looks great. Could these parts be set up in the temporary studio and moved into the new studio over a weekend? Wouldn't it be difficult / annoying having to work around a construction site.

Having trouble quoting the WJZ comment but I have to say while the set is old the main shot of the anchor desk looks dated but fine. That being said it would be GREAT if they upgraded the set but I don't think this current look would go with WJZ's folksy / kitschy style. It would fit in for WBAL or WBFF.

I don't understand the whole situation with WJZ not wanting to get a new set, that set has been used since 98 and needs replaced badly. That set wasn't designed for HD which didn't occur till 11 years after it was built and they made little change when they transition. Hoping they are in the works for a new one right now.

We had a conversation on here one day about it, but my understanding with WJZ is that they refuse to change anything because they're *afraid* to change anything. The old look of theirs is so iconic now that they think changing it will turn viewers off and force them away, so they're keeping everything around.

Also, I just found this website called TV Set Designs that shows the newsdesk that is commonly used as a standup desk on Pittsburgh Today Live (notice the file name in the picture below):

Could this be a hint at the designer or the upcoming main studio, or could they have hired this company for the temp set only?

Makes me think the idea that this set is just part of the new set is correct.

But I'm having a hard time thinking that a CBS O&O would go with this vendor.

It's Hearst. Don't hold your breath...
I thought they got new ones every eight or nine years about. But then again they decided to spend probably $100,000 refreshing WCVB's set (which is 9 years old).
