KTVU's streetside Super Bowl City studio

Over this past weekend, KTVU built a sidewalk studio inside the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, located along Market Street at the primary entrance to Super Bowl City along San Francisco's Embarcadero. The studio is being used for the 9:00am edition of Mornings on 2 ("The Nine"), an extended hour-long 12:00pm show and the 4:00pm newscast.

Overall it looks really nice on air, even if it's not looking out onto the busiest part of the Super Bowl City fan village. They had a pretty good crowd gathered later on during the debut 9:00am show, and a few other folks wandering by during the noon show.

Interestingly enough, KPIX built a smaller, less elaborate set overlooking Super Bowl City from the upper level of the Embarcadero Center shopping mall. Of course, everything pales in comparison to the massive, two-level studio for NFL Network in the center of Super Bowl City and CBS Sports' studio setup, which includes a small football field and zipline for fans.

I liked how KPIX kept its desk design with FX. But I find it tacky that they use the headphone mics on the newscast.

They are outside over looking the active area where SuperBowl city is. There's probably a lot of people there making a ruckus and they probably need to use those headphone to try to get the best sound.

And what the heck does KCNC have since we are 1. In Bronco's territory and 2. A CBS O&O.
