TVO's The Agenda with Steve Paikin is coming to an end on June 27th after 19 seasons. Steve has been with TVO since 1992 after working for the CBC for seven years beforehand. He'll still do the weekly podcast, #onpoli plus other public engagements for TVO.

After 20 years, Frank Ferragine is retiring from the morning show and his last day is May 30th.

Two things here...

• BFM Paris Ile-de-France, the first and flagship of the BFM Regions channels, went off the air for good in mid-March. Accumulated financial losses were to blame, but the other regional channels from BFM are still around.

• The great Daniel Bilalian, who anchored Antenne 2 (before the name was changed in 1992 to the current France 2)'s 13h and 20h during the 80s and 90s, before leading the sports department for 12 years, has passed away. He was 78.

I blame the Canadian media landscape for this, it wouldn't of happened had companies like Bell, Rogers and Shaw/Corus not payola the lawmakers but money talks so whatever.

50 years as the country's most recognized, well respected, most trusted, and most beloved journalist.

 

Matías Prats celebrates 50 years on Spanish television. TVE from 1975-1998 (23 years), and Antena 3 since then, going on 27 years there, now mainly anchoring weekends with Mónica Carrillo and is usually the most-watched weekend News team in the country.

 

Not too bad for someone following in his legendary father's footsteps.

TV5 Philippines recently unveiled a new look for their newscasts, having unveiled a new set that debuted during the recent midterm elections:

 

 

 

 

 

Of course, the music seems to still need some work. They're using the mixture of the previous stings from the 2020 Frontline theme with the 2017 arrangement of the even older Aksyon theme from 2010, which was revived back in March.

Belize

 

Channel 5 in Belize has rebranded and evolved and instead of Great Belize Television, it's now Greater Belize Media. Channel 5 is still the flagship property though.

DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and DZMM TeleRadyo are back on the air in the Philippines. After a five-year absence because ex-President Rodrigo Duterte wanted to get his way and pull ABS-CBN's licenses from broadcasting, ABS-CBN has been finding ways and loopholes to bring their content back on the air. Thanks to the Media Serbisyo Production Corporation (MSPC), a joint venture of the Philippine Collective Media Corporation (PCMC) and ABS-CBN Corporation, both Radyo Patrol and TeleRadyo are back.

After 20 years of delivering the morning news on CBC Newsworld/CBC News Network, Heather Hiscox has decided to retire. There'll be a cross-country road trip for CBC Morning Live during the summer before she finishes her run on November 6th, exactly 20 years after she began her run.
