TheRolyPoly 2622 Posted September 13, 2018 Author Posted September 13, 2018 Congrats to CKMI Global Montreal's Jamie Orchard. She has been there since the beginning in 1997 (CKMI gained Global from CBC) and has anchored the Global Montreal Newshour since 2001. She's pretty much become a recognizable face in the Montreal market, alongside CFCF's Mutsumi Takahashi (who's been there since 1982). Now, she's their assistant news director. She'll be managing their station's on-air and online teams and yes, she'll continue to anchor the weeknight news at 5:30, 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. For someone who's been there since the beginning of Global Television in Montreal, I'm not surprised to hear this news. Well deserved to Jamie. https://globalnews.ca/news/4444222/jamie-orchard-named-assistant-news-director-at-global-montreal/ 1

Journalist 894 Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 CTV's major brand refresh in almost 20 years has launched today. CTV, Canada’s most-watched television network for 17 years running, unveils the next evolution of its brand identity in support of the 2018 Fall Season, which begins today. With a fresh, simplified CTV logo and modernized branding elements, the cross-platform campaign is rolling out now across Canada. 4
Northerner 32 Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 We can all agree that they basically just changed the "C" to have defined edges? 1

Northerner 32 Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Just watching "The Weekly" - which is a current affairs show hosted by Wendy Mesley on CBC (and presumably CBC News Network). Wendy was the primary backup and dedicated Sunday evening anchor during the Peter Mansbridge-era of The National and led the show during the transition to the new format. They've been on the air for a year now, using Studio 55 at the CBC - which is also known as the home of The National. Here's a few caps/photos. They change the colours around to suit their look (orange and teal vs. dark blue) which I am quite a fan of. They also borrow the graphics from The National - albeit with a different colour for the font. I've included a few photos from The National just for a comparison. 1

Journalist 894 Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Citytv Toronto just teased a promo for their upcoming news chopper on their 6pm newscast! It's "coming soon". 1

(yes, CityPulse instead of CityNews because that's what Citytv was... covering The Pulse of Toronto, every night.)

Yeah, that's what I thought too. I found this particularly surprising considering that the news division was short on resources and revenue for a pretty long time...like for more than 15 years now. I guess Rogers found some extra cash after gutting out some auxiliary staff, and in turn the last remains of a traditional news format after last year's reboot.

It's "coming soon". It's C-FNPQ, a R44 naturally. Former recent CIII-TV Global News chopper, as well as previously for sister Corus radio station AM640 CFMJ, and further back as CHCH's chopper. "Chopper 680" has been flying since the start of the month for the radio, now ready for the technical side of City. Port side has 680 News logos, while the Starboard side has the CityNews logos. Slowly getting back in the game City, sadly still without a pulse. Edited February 21, 2019 by n925tv

TheRolyPoly 2622 Posted February 28, 2019 Author Posted February 28, 2019 Apparently, when Gord Martineau left CityNews after 39 years in 2016, it wasn't his choice to leave. Learned something new today. This is from The Agenda with Steve Paikin on TVOntario (TVO) from 2017.
