LexTVandRadio 418 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 New logo and new graphics that look CBSish.
swillh2k2 205 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 New logo and new graphics that look CBSish. Looks like it's going to be a poorly executed ripoff of the CBS O&O package.
ChesapeakeTV 312 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Oy yey. They really can't get their act together in the presentation department, it seems.
Journalist 894 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Looks like it's going to be a poorly executed ripoff of the CBS O&O package. The transitions are animated in reverse... ...That alone it's evident it's going to be botched.
TheRolyPoly 2585 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 As I first mentioned in the Out and About. Plus, WWAY willl have half-hour noon and hour-long 7pm news for its WWAY CBS subchannel.
Action Newsroom 1300 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 That promo looks like something a college student made on Movie Maker. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the person whom they hired to make it (and the package) is a college student.
LexTVandRadio 418 Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 Maybe a new set? Oh, I meant virtual set
promoguy98 254 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Okay, so I give them credit for at least making a logo better than FOX25 Boston and WEWS 5....It wasn't an "ohhh let's just grab Gotham, or Hellvetikerrr or the trendy font of the week so I give them that. I figured maybe they were going to step it up since they keep expanding news at many of their stations where they can sell the group for more money. I'm torn. One one hand, it's great that they didn't turn to a 35 dollar video hive graphics package, since Morris loves to be cheeeeaper than a tweety bird.... on the other hand, maybe they should have! Or they could have ponied up $5000 bucks and got a designer here from TVNT or the hive to make a package and shared it with all of their stations. This is ONE situation where I'm all for some standardization! BTW, any idea over what font is used for the WWAY? I took just the WAY typeface into "What the Font" and the results didn't match up with anything. I remember seeing it on some logo type back in the day of days.
Eat News 4745 Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 BTW, any idea over what font is used for the WWAY? I took just the WAY typeface into "What the Font" and the results didn't match up with anything. I remember seeing it on some logo type back in the day of days. FrankinFont?
promoguy98 254 Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 FrankinFont? Not quite. I've tried several font identifier websites and the closest I've found is: at https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/stawix/amsi-pro/ "Amsi Pro Ultra" comes pretty close, but the bottom of the A is more rounded than what is seen with the WWAY logo. At least to my eyes. But it's darn near close enough. I'll revisit all of this after a night of New Year's boozing and once the potential headache wears off
roscoryan 21 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 It's not so bad: http://www.wwaytv3.com/2016/12/30/cbs-what-you-need-to-know-for-sunday/
LexTVandRadio 418 Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 It's not so bad: http://www.wwaytv3.com/2016/12/30/cbs-what-you-need-to-know-for-sunday/ It's not terrible. Better than WJZ. Really hope some company ends up buying this group of station. I did like this promo that says, South Eastern North Carolina. Too many directions.
NWA_TV_guy 157 Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Morris.... Nothing else has to be said! *eyeroll*
promoguy98 254 Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Morris.... Nothing else has to be said! *eyeroll* Meow. "We're sure not finicky.... unless it deals with meal time"
Big Country News 435 Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 It's better than what they could have churned out, let's be honest.
qunewsguy 378 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Yep, rotten O&O ripoff but could be worse. What's up with the double bug during newscasts?
Rusty Muck 4403 Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 It's not terrible. Better than WJZ. Really hope some company ends up buying this group of station. I did like this promo that says, South Eastern North Carolina. Too many directions. What is West of South Eastern North Carolina?
elfuego35 90 Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 What is West of South Eastern North Carolina? South Carolina In seriousness, when needing to give further identification of the area than "Eastern Carolina", it is typically identified as the "Cape Fear" region, because of the Cape Fear River, or as the Port City, since the market is one of the major ports for the State.
Ntropolis 599 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 South Carolina In seriousness, when needing to give further identification of the area than "Eastern Carolina", it is typically identified as the "Cape Fear" region, because of the Cape Fear River, or as the Port City, since the market is one of the major ports for the State. Pretty much nails it. "Eastern Carolina" typically refers to places like Greenville, Washington, New Bern, Kinston, etc. "Northeastern North Carolina" includes some of the Greenville DMA like Bertie and Martin counties, but mostly consists of the portion of NC that's in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA DMA. "Southeastern North Carolina" or "Cape Fear Region" would be an appropriate name for the Wilmington DMA.
MidwestTV 1242 Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 It's not so bad: http://www.wwaytv3.com/2016/12/30/cbs-what-you-need-to-know-for-sunday/ Wait, did they debut the package with the new logo, but leave the old logo as the bug? The hell? And about the logo, it's not that bad. I'm a big fan of the next "WWAY" and "3" is in, however the circle 3 is awkward. Would've worked better had they kept the parallelogram.
Journalist 894 Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Wait, did they debut the package with the new logo, but leave the old logo as the bug? The hell? That video was published prior to the rebranding.
