ColDayNews 438 Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 THIS POST WILL BE UPDATED AS NETWORKS ANNOUNCE COVERAGE. ABC: ABC News will offer live coverage of the solar eclipse, beginning at 1:00 p.m. EDT. David Muir will be reporting live from Charleston, S.C., which is in the "path of totality." Correspondents will include The View cohost Sara Haines, Chief Economic Correspondent Rebecca Jarvis, T.J. Coverage will preempt The Chew, and General Hospital on the east coast; The View and local programming will be preempted on the west coast. NBC: NBC will offer coverage anchored by Lester Holt, Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer in the 1pm/2pm EDT hours, preempting Days of our Lives for some stations and local programming on others. CBS: Unknown. FOX: Sister network Fox News Channel will provide coverage that will be simulcast between local Fox stations and Fox News Channel. TWC: The Weather Channel's coverage will be anchored by Dave Malkoff on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship ... which will include a musical performance by DNCE. Drew 152 Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 I'm not too sure about NBC and Weather Channel teaming up it seems lately they have not been hating resources
TheRob 938 Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 We will have an extra hour of news in Kansas City. Wouldn't it be awful if we had a cloudy day after all that hype?
David Salter JR 66 Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 We will have an extra hour of news in Kansas City. Wouldn't it be awful if we had a cloudy day after all that hype? has fox confirmed that they are offering a (presumably level 2) special report on the eclipse?
MidwestTV 1240 Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 My station is planning all-hands-on-deck coverage all day, including live break-ins throughout the day.

TWC will be the ONLY network to use augmented reality for their coverage. Meteorologists Jim Cantore and Stephanie Abrams will be reporting from Madras, Oregon and Carbondale, Illinois. Looking forward to that live special coverage on TV in addition to seeing it in person from the comfort of my family's house.
WestleyWolf 122 Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 either CBS Local or CW via CBS Local might cover it if CBS Themselves doesn't do anything about it then again their going to have that We Day Special thing tonight.
Big Country News 435 Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Shepard Smith called the eclipse a "Big Day" and said they've planned special coverage on, at least, FOX News Channel.
TheRob 938 Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 has fox confirmed that they are offering a (presumably level 2) special report on the eclipse? I haven't seen any indication of it. FOX has News Edge live shots scheduled from Idaho Falls with Lauren Blanchard, and that's all I see right now.
David Salter JR 66 Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 I haven't seen any indication of it. FOX has News Edge live shots scheduled from Idaho Falls with Lauren Blanchard, and that's all I see right now. how far in advance does fox send special reprort notifications?
CaptainNews 287 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 At this point NBC (Excluding MSNBC) has no other choice but to have coverage I think it would be stupid if they (NBC, besides msnbc) and CBS didn’t have any coverage.
TheRob 938 Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 how far in advance does fox send special reprort notifications? Outside of elections, FOX doesn't send notifications far in advance, maybe 24 hours at most.
alex979 119 Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 The Weather Channel is really going all out:
sctvhound 27 Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 The Charleston stations, being in the totality, are going all out. Channel 5 (WCSC) is running four hours of eclipse coverage, Noon-4pm, based from the Charleston RiverDogs baseball stadium, Riley Park, while Channel 4 (WCIV) is preempting ABC's coverage and running their own from the USS Yorktown from Noon-3pm. The NBC, WCBD, is running a special 30 minute show, and PBS (SCETV) is running special statewide coverage simulcast on radio and TV. WYFF in the Upstate is running a special hour, and the Columbia stations are also running (at least WIS NBC and WLTX CBS) are doing their own coverage.
Mrtraveler01 738 Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 St. Louis is on the edge of totality (the southern suburbs are in the dead center of it) and as a result the stations here have been doing various stories about how St. Louis and the towns around it are preparing themselves for the eclipse. Looking at the guide, the only special programming I see is that KMOV is doing coverage of the eclipse from 12:00pm-2:00 which is when the eclipse is scheduled to occur here. EDIT: KSDK is also doing special coverage of the eclipse from 12:30-1:30. Still nothing from KTVI/KPLR. KDNL is just going to air ABC's national coverage.
Eat News 4745 Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 KBEX-TV will be live at the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Lion Country Safari and the Humane Society Animal Shelter.... We will watch animals freak out during the eclipse. Hosted By Kathy Griffin (impersonator)

WPDE in Myrtle Beach is also plugging their own 3 hour special from Noon-3pm. It appears they might be pre-empting ABC's national coverage also as they mention being at various sites around the area.
Jterry 43 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 NBC has announced coverage with Lester Holt anchoring special coverage in the 1/2 PM ET hours with meteorologist Dylan Dreyer in New York and Al Roker in Charleston, SC among other correspondents along the path.
CaptainNews 287 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Nothing from CBS yet. CBS isn’t really involved in Weather/meteorology in general it seems like.
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Nothing from CBS yet. CBS isn’t really involved in Weather/meteorology in general it seems like. Plus they happen to run two of the highest-rated soaps, so I think they're leaving it to the affiliates.

How does this impact Monday's days of our lives episode?
HowardSalwasser 28 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Some potentially bad news: Early forecasts suggest that most of the path of this solar eclipse could be eclipsed by clouds and rain.
alex979 119 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 I imagine some of this could be simulcast as a SR on local stations...

Eat News 4745 Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 I was going to watch the eclipse on TV... But my house is solar powered, so I will miss the best part.
