atlnews2 596 Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 WNCN is now CBS17. They got the Nexstar CBS graphics, the Nexstar "local news that matters" slogan, and a brand new set. http://www.cbs17.com/news/cbs-north-carolina-rebrands-as-cbs-17/1048220823

tyrannical bastard 4036 Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Very impressive. A lot of us figured this was coming. The CBS North Carolina brand needed to go like...yesterday. Their previous set was a good one as well...It's too bad it could have ended up in the dumpster instead of at one of their fixer-upper stations that could have used it.
rkolsen 1686 Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 I really don’t care for the set. It looks very awkward.

padrechuck 25 Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 WDVM could use that set. WOWK, WTRF, WBOY or WVNS definitely could’ve used it. They have not had new sets since West Virginia Media Holdings began back in 2001 or so
Sendir 194 Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 If they would have reused the set, people would complain it’s a “hand me down” (see references in Tegna thread). This set is awesome. Love it.
Info Junkie 1286 Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 I betcha the logo was modified slightly (i.e. the “7” being attached to the CBS Eye, and the “NEWS” in a different font) as a way to look a bit different than WSPA. Edit: Although something tells me that Nexstar could use that logo style for their North Carolina-South Carolina properties (excluding WCBD).
Ntropolis 599 Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Edit: Although something tells me that Nexstar could use that logo style for their North Carolina-South Carolina properties (excluding WCBD). I think it’d look weird on WBTW... I can’t imagine ‘13’ in that red box, and it actually look good, but I guess there’s a way to make it work. I could see them with the graphics though. It would almost be a return to this... They desperately need a logo update... their logo, crescent and all, has been the same for 16 years.

Growing up in Florence, this was my favorite logo from them when they was just known as TV 13 News! But WBTW definitely needs an logo update!

They have not had new sets since West Virginia Media Holdings began back in 2001 or so Hell, WOAY even got a new set late last year or the beginning of this year, they're even broadcasting 24/7 now. I still never understood why they signed off.
RGSJenkins 435 Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 I really don’t care for the set. It looks very awkward. It's awkward because their studio is very small. Take a look at their previous set. At least they didn't get the Nexstar circle desk.
