Breaking News 825
As for Tom Haynes, he could relinquish the 5:00 and still do News Edge with Stephany (when she joins, but nothing is made official without Mike McClain's declaration). Meanwhile, over at "Station X"...http://www.wsbtv.com/news/news/local/wsb-tv-names-misti-turnbull-news-director/nn2SJ/ Me personally I feel they could do a anchor shuffle over at WAGA. Isn't FOX Sports South at WAGA? Send Ron Gant over there. I know he a popular former Braves player. Send him over to FOX Sports South, and move Tom Haynes the Good Day and have Stephany/Cynne at 5pm, Lisa/Russ at 6, Cynne/ Russ at 10, Stephany solo at 11pm. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16860-out-about/page/122/#findComment-137283 Share on other sites
johnnya2k6 171
OR (even worse)...they could sack Haynes (so he would jump to 11)! Either way, Fox 5 will soon be rolling out the welcoming mat for Stephany Fisher in a couple months. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16860-out-about/page/122/#findComment-137300 Share on other sites
ColumbusNewsFan 217
Major news out of Columbus tonight, Longtime WCMH Anchor, Cabot Rea has announced this evening that he'll be retiring from NBC 4 in December. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16860-out-about/page/122/#findComment-137318 Share on other sites
tyrannical bastard 3942
Huge news indeed. Another change of the guard from the days when he and Colleen Marshall inherited the anchor slots from Doug Adair and Angela Pace. At least Jym Ganahl is staying put since he's been at the station since 1979. I wonder if Mike Jackson would move back to nightside. Having him on the morning shift may be an advantage since they lead into the "Today" show and WBNS no longer extends into the 7am hour... 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16860-out-about/page/122/#findComment-137333 Share on other sites

brianpr3 178
WIS Chief Meteorologist John Farley's contract wasn't renewed, yesterday was his last day. A3N 1002
In a new episode of As The Chopper Turns...KFMB's Chopper 8 has been out of commission for several weeks now (again), replaced by a rented A-Star from Welk Aviation in L.A. Looking around the net, it seems like the regular chopper is being upgraded, for what I don't know. Seems like the traffic reporters are enjoying the A-Star much more. TheRolyPoly 2393
Is this the 1970s? One TV station is debuting a 7-shaped desk on their new set. Yeah. It reminds me of WTVJ when they used a "4"-shaped desk in the '70s. easttxtv 7
WBAP (pre-KXAS) had a '5'-shaped newsdesk in the late 1960s/very early 1970s. Probably the only attempt at a numbered shape desk ever in the DFW market. NewsMaster 226
WTIC has gone back to the Fox 61 branding As a former Connecticut resident, I am really happy about this. Hopefully this will push WVIT to go back to NBC 30. Former WIVB sports director Steve Vesey is the new morning anchor at WFMJ. Vesey is a Y-town native. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/16860-out-about/page/122/#findComment-137688 Share on other sites

easttxtv 7
DFW news viewers have to say farewell to yet another longtime fixture, as Byron Harris, WFAA reporter for going on 41 years, is calling it a day. The linkie in the previous post (my phone was acting stupid and wouldn't let me do this text part after the link was typed) gives no last-air date or out-the-door date for Harris. Don't be surprised that the terrible ratings of The Meredith Vieira Show will make stations start airing more local newscasts. WPBF 25 (WCVB 5's sister station in Palm Beach) has already done so by adding a 9:00 a.m. hour-long weekday newscast weeks ago while pushing Meredith to 1:05 a.m. and now, it looks like WCVB 5 is doing the same.
