groupwfan 97 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 10am? It's great that WTKR has a new local talk show, but I think they should put Coast Live at 9am and move Let's Make A Deal to 10am (most CBS affiliates air the game show at that timeslot). LMAD has been at 9am since Ellen moved to 3pm a few years ago. If 'TKR was an O&O, They would have LMAD at 10 like 'JZ in neighboring Maryland and have Coast on at 9 after thisMORNING. 1
Nelson R. 569 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 If 'TKR was an O&O, They would have LMAD at 10 like 'JZ in neighboring Maryland and have Coast on at 9 after thisMORNING. WSPA also has LMAD at 9 and a local show at 10, called Your Carolina. Agreed!

MidwestTV 1247 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 KCTV has hired former WIVB news director Scott Levy. It'll be their third news director in about as many years. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/8/2/buffalo-news-director-headed-to-kc Levy was the one who accidentally made staff notes and criticisms public. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/wivb-news-directors-criticism-of-staff-goes-public/170449

Speaking of O&Os, how is CBS the most watched network if most of their O&Os aren't #1 or even #2? Is it because people don't watch those O&Os for news, but rather for the shows and NFL games? 3

mardek1995 200 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Did you have to ask that question?Yes, I did.
ns8401 957 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Yes, I did. Why? Most watched NETWORK has nothing to do with LOCAL NEWS...
mardek1995 200 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Why? Most watched NETWORK has nothing to do with LOCAL NEWS...In that case, it is because of shows and NFL games, but for news, especially local news, most people tune to other stations instead.
MidwestTV 1247 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 In that case, it is because of shows and NFL games, but for news, especially local news, most people tune to other stations instead. A station could easily be an affiliate of the most watched network but be least watched in their market due to a variety of reasons, such as poor management, another station having a history of dominance, and etc.

ns8401 957 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Like WWJ and, if NBC doesn't do anything about the possible lack of OTA coverage of NBC Boston, WNEU, for example. WWJ is not last in the market... Especially in Prime Time... 1
mardek1995 200 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 WWJ is not last in the market... Especially in Prime Time...But NBC Boston might be if NBC doesn't solve their problem of a possibility of a lack of OTA coverage. How about a better example... WOI, one of the weakest ABC affiliates. Also MidwestTV, about what you said about a station being an affiliate of the #1 network but the least watched in their market, the inverse can also be true. WFAA, for example was the most watched station in DFW back in the early 2000s even though ABC was struggling at the time.
Newstudent 43 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 KYW (cbs) in philly for ahwhile branded there station as the most watched despite the fact that there newscasts are dead last

TheRob 938 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I remember when we hired Shelly Slater at FOX 4. She did her first live shot on my show, and I thought "Wow, this woman will be a major-market anchor someday, maybe even CNN." Now she's stepping away from full-time work at WFAA. http://unclebarky.com/dfw_files/f1cacb539d3a4a94bff6beaf4ca7a0f2-3737.html

TennTV1983 807 Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 WATN in Memphis has hired Jessica Benson as their new sports anchor/reporter. Her first day on the job was tonight. She previously worked at KNDU in Yakima, WA; and replaces Bryan Fenley, who is no longer employed at the station as of this week. Correction: Bryan Fenley is still employed at WATN; however, his profile had been removed from the station website earlier this week by mistake. It has since been placed back up. Apologies for the error. 1

mardek1995 200 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I have issues with FTVLive because many news reporters have done more than FTVLive has ever done. They often say that they reported "FIRST" but they may not have reported accurately, and while I think being first isnt a bad thing in itself, I do take issue when they report first, but the information is incorrect. And what has FTVLive done to help the news media business?
