Former KTUL weekend evening anchor Kim Jackson is back in the tv business and is joining KOTV as weekend anchor (hasn’t said if she will be on mornings or the evenings) after a few years away and living in DC where she was at WJLA then left to go into real estate.

You remember him from either WTVG Toledo or WABC-TV New York.

But for almost 10 years, he went and is still home in Northeast Ohio.

WEWS' Rob Powers is now elite in his home state. He gets into the Ohio A.P. Hall of Fame. For one of the best anchors in the country, very well deserved.

When you get something like this, you know its official.

Dylan Federico has joined my station, WSVN 7, as its newest meteorologist. As far as I'm aware, nobody is leaving the Weather side, meaning that the team, led by Chief Meteorologist Phil Ferro, who celebrates 20 years this year as WSVN's Chief, now has SIX meteorologists on board.

For comparison, WFOR has five, WTVJ also has six (I don't count the WSCV mets for this purpose, and yes, John Morales counts even if he's only their hurricane specialist), and the new Indie WPLG has, get this... 8 (that also includes their hurricane specialist, Michael Lowry). It makes sense to have a lot of meteorologists in this hurricane-prone market.

KTUL has another new Chief Meteorologist. Jason Nappi joins both KTUL and KOKH where we will be doing 5,6,10pm for Tulsa and covering OKC when Jack Gerfen is off. He has officially started as of yesterday but will make his on air debut Friday morning when he gets introduced to the markets and will do the weather that evening.

KTVQ Billings has announced that Hailey Monaco is their new morning anchor.

That line alone is not necessarily newsworthy around here.

However, this time is different because Hailey's director inside the control room during the morning newscast is the one who launched the show and knows her personally... 39-year KTVQ veteran and more importantly, her father: Rob Monaco.

I thought about posting this in the Sports Section, but this may get more traction here--the NFL is also acquiring a stake in another broadcaster, this time CBS, according to Yahoo Sports (via the Wall Street Journal)...

The actual information is in WSJ's story regarding the ESPN-NFL transaction (in the fourth paragraph)...

Quote

Through a content partnership with Skydance Media, the NFL will also have equity in rights holder CBS after Skydance closes its deal to acquire the network’s parent Paramount Global this week.

This is a big deal in San Antonio television.

Steve Spriester, a longtime fixture at KSAT 12 for 30 years, is leaving but not retiring, instead joining a legal advocacy firm.

His last day is August 27th.

Steve undoubtedly deserves to be in the Mount Rushmore of San Antonio television with the likes of Randy Beamer (ex-WOAI) and Chris Marrou (ex-KENS).

WTKR’s Blaine Stewart will be off the air for a while as he deals with an “unexpected medical challenge.”

Update on this: he suffered a heart attack in June while attending a baseball game in DC. He’s recovering, no timetable for his return.

I don't know where else to put it so it goes here...

KHON's Joe Moore, his son Bryce (also working at KHON), and... Pat Sajak. All together for one final play as it wraps up a 24-year run.

Zeam is about to get a whole lot bigger.

Sinclair has sold NewsON to the Gray and Morgan Murphy-backed streamer.

Sinclair is dumber than Nexstar.  First Stirr...now NewsOn?

I really hope some two bit private equity firm buys Sinclair simply to drive them out of business entirely.
