Spring Rubber 725 Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 All everybody knows what to do is to just copy ESPN's ticker. No original thought here whatsoever.
Georgie56 3353 Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Why do I think that ticker may expand to the rest of Turner Sports?

It's just too bad that people who are creating these tickers are just having absolutely ZERO thought in terms of being original. I guess the networks think it's okay to plagarize what ESPN originally did with the ticker.
Georgie56 3353 Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 I wonder if this could be a preview of a possible new NHL scorebug next season for NBC.

I wouldn't be surprised if these graphics rear their head during the playoffs, especially with Bettman confirming that the stat-tracking technology will find its way into the playoffs this year.
Viper550 294 Posted February 1, 2020 Author Posted February 1, 2020 Noticed NBA TV got a new ticker and of course it does that thing now too. Putting it on the left doesn't make it any more original.
Spintech33 126 Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 NEW NBA on TNT- Tuesday nights premiered last night with Shaq, D-Wade, Candace Parker and Adam Lefkoe. A double dose of the NBA association on Tuesdays and Thursdays (Very good for TNT). This show is a spinoff from the recently cancelled players only show on NBA TV. Although I like the originality of inside the NBA (Thursday nights), this Tuesday night edition of Inside the NBA may look pretty promising.
Viper550 294 Posted February 24, 2020 Author Posted February 24, 2020 Sportsnet got a new L-bar for its trade deadline coverage: they are continuing to phase in flatter graphics (first the MLB scoreboard/inserts, then NHL promos), but still not throwing the switch on a full-on redesign yet (which is quite awkward given their existing graphics were starting to already look dated when they debuted)
Georgie56 3353 Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 NBA has suspended the season due to Coronavirus.
CubsFan79 58 Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 MLB cancels spring training games and delays regular season due to COR 19.
TheRolyPoly 2677 Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Both NHL and MLS' seasons ars suspended. MLS just got underway too, just two weeks in and BAM... postponed.
Viper550 294 Posted June 5, 2020 Author Posted June 5, 2020 Sportsnet just made a big hire: Chris Cuthbert. He used to be TSN's lead NHL commentator, and also did CFL games. He used to be with CBC and Hockey Night until 2005, so this is somewhat of a return for him.

Also worth noting that he occasionally does commentary for NBC's NHL coverage as well.
Viper550 294 Posted July 19, 2020 Author Posted July 19, 2020 Sportsnet is going to be doing the host production for the Stanley Cup games from Edmonton, while NBC will be doing Toronto - a decision that has understandably ruffled some feathers by those expecting everything to be handled by Canadian producers given they're doing it all in Canada.
AaronQ 291 Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 I mentioned it before at another thread, but the broadcast schedule in both the US and Canada has been released. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/sportsnet-announces-stanley-cup-qualifiers-broadcasting-schedule/ https://nbcsportsgrouppressbox.com/2020/07/21/nbc-sports-to-present-up-to-120-hours-of-2020-stanley-cup-qualifiers-coverage-on-nbc-nbcsn-and-usa-network-beginning-august-1/
Viper550 294 Posted July 25, 2020 Author Posted July 25, 2020 This has a chance of looking good on TV. I begin to wonder if they'll put in the digital ad replacement on the boards like they did during the All-Star Game.
AaronQ 291 Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 NBC released their commentary and production details for the upcoming NHL return.

John Forslund is no longer under contract with the Hurricanes because ownership severely lowballed him, so he will be more free to work more of NBC‘s games. He will not be a part of any Fox Sports Carolinas broadcasts. Ends a 20+ year run with the franchise if an agreement can’t be reached.
danderson500 31 Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 Is there a reason why the Flames-Jets game was on both NHL Network and NBC? Was it because of overlap with Washington vs. Tampa Bay?

Easy way to fill programming.
danderson500 31 Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 NHL Network is either using the CBC feed or the Fox RSN feeds. Can't remember, but who did the Flames-OIlers games?
racefan_09 14 Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 NHL on Fox on Sinclair on NBCSN. Don’t remember them showing any non-NBC RSN feeds before this year but they’ve done it a lot this week.
