CircleSeven 1960 Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 So close to six months after Nexstar took over the former KGBT's intellectual property, KVEO has replaced that old Sinclair set for a new Nexstar-style set for the CBS subchannel.
NEOMatrix 1305 Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 Where’s the set at? El Paso? Or RGV? And what is KVEO doing about newscasts?
newsn8te 202 Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 they’re using the WISH graphics and Locals Only.
jd285 53 Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 I’m surprised Nexstar gave them a new set. I was originally expecting they just give them some new graphics. This pretty much kills off the idea that the on air broadcasts would be merged into one.

The new set is at the CBS4/NBC23 Studio in Harlingen. Remember, the staff and management of KVEO moved into the CBS 4 studios when Nexstar acquired CBS 4 from Sinclair.

It's interesting that they're using the WISH package, because the duras suggest the Nexstar CBS package.
TheRyan 560 Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 It looks like they used a hybrid of the WKRN version of the Nexstar ident at the end of that 5pm newscast--because they have names of towns from Tennessee and Kentucky. Kinda odd since they do emphasize Texas on the map but then transition to the Nexstar logo with those TN/KY town names. For a market of that size, this is a really good set for them. Hopefully this is an indicator that they'll keep both of the KVEO and CBS4 branded newscasts.

Now if WDKY can get that kind of treatment when Nexstar takes over, when ever that is. That would be cool. If they decide to branch away from WKYT.

ScottSchell 370 Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Sorry to bump the thread but KVEO also did an update to the NBC set.
Samantha 2898 Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 That's not merely an update, that's the news production moving from El Paso. The news times are also changing to complement the CBS channel, with hours at 6am, 11am and 4pm and half-hours at 6:30 and 10.
