I was watching WFTV’s 11pm stream tonight and after it ended, “National News Tonight” started airing. Not sure how long it’s been around but it’s a hosted by Jovita Moore at WSB and uses reports from Cox stations across the country. Sorry about the poor quality photos I grabbed my cell and snapped a few pics.

They've been doing this National News Tonight thing for months.

I caught it in early spring when WFXT streamed it at 4:30am (this was when it moved its morning show an hour later to 5am).

"National News Tonight"? What a generic name as Cox desperately wanted to fight Nexstar's NewsNation (and Gray's upcoming Local News Live).

Especially when they have far less footprint than Nexstar or Gray.

Same with Hearst (though they and Cox have stations in Boston, Pittsburgh, Orlando, Ohio, Oklahoma, and North Carolina); I can see them countering with a similar newscast originating from WCVB with Maria Stephanos.

Are all Cox stations running this? I haven’t seen it on WPXI.

WHBQ airs the program at 4:00 in the morning.

It's made its way to some of the ex-Northwest stations. Both WSYT and WICZ have picked it up for early mornings.
