PitCleTV 9 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Ummm Ok. I know I said the new set and and gfx were supposed to debut on Feb. 26, but this past weekend I saw a promo for the debut on Feb. 23. However, it is Feb. 23 and nothing has changed! So I don't know what the hell is going on. Maybe it will be the 26th.
tvweatherman 0 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Oops, so it has. I blame the insomnia for that. My bad guys. lol LOL!! It's no problem, I was just sayin'!! LOL!!
who?cares 255 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I wonder if this could include WYTV too...since they share facilities and news staff. We can finally see the new graphics that WKBN's been teasing with their website. the top headline on wytv.com is "Channel 27 gets a new set."
Ntropolis 599 Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 Promo that shows when you play a video on WKBN's video player teases the new graphics and music... new theme is Enforcer.
PitCleTV 9 Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 New set gfx, music, and VO are not too bad for market 109 I guess. But I think WFMJ still might have a better set.
tyrannical bastard 4033 Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 It sort of reminds me of WYTV's 1999-2002 graphics look. Has WYTV picked up any of the new graphics yet or are they keeping with their current look?
PitCleTV 9 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Still the same, and still with that ridiculous slogan "We believe in this valley."
abric 181 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 WPLG Local 10 in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale will go HD on March 28th. Plus a look at the building, newsroom and news set. They will be the first in Miami (South Florida) and second in the nation to launch in true HD. http://www.justnews.com/video/index.html Search for "Inside Local 10's New Home" Under "Local News"

Que 73 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I love their set. It doesn't look like your usual news set and has a lot of bright colors.
seriouslythough 0 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Looks unique, like nothing I've ever seen. Now they better increase their digital transmitter power, 15.6KW isn't cutting it for even a 20 mile range (except at night)
brb588 114 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I mentioned it in the Local TV forum but KTVI and KPLR went HD when they moved into their new home in Maryland Heights February 15. Does anyone have any screen grabs/video from KTVI or KPLR to show what their new look is? Thanks!
rtmclaug 70 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I saw the video of WPLG's new studios. I am impressed! I can't wait to see it for real when everything is all set and done.
Mrtraveler01 738 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Wow, that WPLG set looks amazing. It'll be interesting to see what the HD launch will be like. BTW: What's the other station that's in "true HD"?

caliwxdude 254 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I guess WPLG left out KSWB from the list of fully-high definition news operations since you can't really call the crap they produce "news." But if you do, then they are another station besides WRAL that produces an entire newscast in high definition--field video and live shots included. I was also under the impression that KCBS, KLAS and KYW were also acquiring field video in high definition, using Sony XDCAM HD camcorders. But that technicality aside, the set is definitely... interesting. I find the complete lack of branding pretty weird, but maybe that was done with the whole WPLG-WTVJ joint operation in mind? Not branding the set is a missed opportunity, IMO.
first on fox 18 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 What about WPXI? Aren't their live shots/field video in HD? I forget.

You make a good point, where are all the WPLGs? the 10s, the ABCs? the hds? That might be a kick back to the proposed now defunct merger (I do not think so). I can't imagine what it will be like in the new building, the old one was too small for its use some 20 years ago. - how they made it work that long is amazing. btw, anyone else think the news desk is a super large fries from McDs?
Mrtraveler01 738 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Fully since '01. Oh of course, I should've know. Anyways, I'm not sure but I think KMOV and KSDK have HD camera's for live spots as well as the studio.
abric 181 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 KIFI in Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Jackson WY just made the switch to HD. http://www.localnews8.com/Global/story.asp?S=9945315&nav=menu554_1_6 UPDATE: March 15th: KPHO in Phoenix, AZ finally went HD after months of delay.
sctvhound 27 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Also, WJCL/WTGS in Savannah is adding HD, starting with the 6pm news tonight.
NewsJunkie247 1 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 What about WPXI? Aren't their live shots/field video in HD? I forget. I am pretty sure that they are. Their live shots/field video is in widescreen, but it may be widescreen SD upconverted to HD. They are also probably one of the few stations that air syndicated programs such as Wheel of Fourtune and Jeopardy in HD. As opposed to KDKA which is horribe in airing HD programming. They don't air the CBS Evening News, Dr. Phil, or The Insider in HD. The only programs that they do air in HD are sporting events, CBS primetime, and Letterman.
NewsMan 0 Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 KGUN will be going HD soon but I don't know the date. The main anchor "Guy" told me that. His name is really Guy!
