RGSJenkins 435 Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Their set looks like KXAS' new set, screen in the middle and the lip (stand up desk) at end of the desk.
Ntropolis 598 Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 VARTV tidbit... Is a second TV station in the Roanoke market thisclose to doing its newscasts in HD (behind WSLS/10)? Stay tuned... (4/22/2008) I'd put my money on WDBJ.
lazynetjunkie 34 Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Oh yeah' date=' no question about it. That's the WLS bug (with an ABC 11 logo). Looks beautiful though.[/quote'] WTVD's set also looks like a version of the WLS set.. A BDI set too, I'm guessing. I'm noticing they're also using alot of the exact same camera angles as WLS too. WTVD's new graphics (especially the logo graphic used on the screen directly behind the anchor desk) actually look more like some of the original concepts originally drawn up for WLS before they were changed to what WLS actually uses.
Ntropolis 598 Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 VARTV tidbit... I'd put my money on WDBJ. Yup, it's WDBJ. Launched HD news at 5pm today. http://www.wdbj7.com/Global/story.asp?S=8210313 A second TV station in the Roanoke market started doing its newscasts in HD (behind WSLS/10). Schurz Communications' WDBJ (7CBS) flipped on the HD switch for its 5 p.m. newscast... For those of you keeping score, Richmond - 0 and Hampton Roads - 0 for stations doing HD news... (4/22/2008)

Dave Lampstein 122 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Was reading a TV magazine I get, was not sure if you guys knew about this: http://www.televisionbroadcast.com/content/hdnewsmap/HD_Newscast_Tally__90_HD_Stations_in_51_Markets.shtml Although it seems they're a bit slow with updating... maybe we can help?
l14dap 1 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 KESQ in Palm Springs, CA launched HD news... and they picked up PNP! PNP?! I thought that package was dead.
Mrtraveler01 738 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 KSHB in Kansas City went HD today with hardly any fanfare...or changes. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=234120&page=225
ybYellow 2 Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Beginning this week, WHDH is draping a green screen behind their anchor desk which will show an image of their newsplex. This is being done to hide the construction they are doing in preparation for the switch to HD. They are taking out all of their old monitors and replacing them with a large screen. They are also taking out the "7 News" balcony surround. Music and graphics will also be refreshed for the HD relaunch. EDIT: To get a look at what they are actually replacing, look to the right of this picture. The woman on the left is disgraced WHDH GM Randi Goldklank.
noname_77065 0 Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Belo's KVUE (ABC/Austin) is going HD next month according to these two articles. No specific launch day in these articles, and I haven't seen anything on air to indicate it's coming. http://broadcastengineering.com/hdtv/local_hd_transition_dream_0411/index.html http://broadcastengineering.com/hdtv/local_hd_transition_dream_0411/index.html
ybYellow 2 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 WHDH may make the HD switch on July 15th, according to BTVN.net.
tyrannical bastard 4019 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Has WSYX/WTTE flipped the HD switch yet?
ColumbusNewsFan 217 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Still waiting for WSYX/WTTE here in Columbus but from what i'm seeing there will no major changes.:bang: If it happens you will know for me first.
ybYellow 2 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Correction: WHDH is going to be replacing the balcony and the glass behind it with a projection screen, not the TV wall as originally stated. Example:
ColumbusNewsFan 217 Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 WSYX/WTTE has started broadcasting their news in HD Saturday Night. (while I was stuck watching the news in Toledo. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Painful.) EDIT:WBFF has started HD news as well.

Ntropolis 598 Posted May 15, 2008 Author Posted May 15, 2008 WBFF hasn't started HD news yet... I'll get caps when they do though. My best guess is immediately following the Idol finale next week.
ColumbusNewsFan 217 Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 my bad:o. Saw they were using the same weather computer and made a guess.
caliwxdude 254 Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Kntv has taken the Plunge No, they haven't. Most likely won't happen until July...
