The Observer 0 Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 From a press release from the station (contact info redacted): CBS2 HD LAUNCHES A NEW COMMUNITY AFFAIRS PROGRAM “EYE ON NEW YORK” ON SUNDAY, MARCH 16 New York-- Beginning this Sunday, March 16, WCBS-TV will begin broadcasting a new 30-minute community affairs program called “Eye on New York”. This weekly broadcast will air on CBS2 at 6:30am every Sunday with topics including community events, health, politics, technology, education, and entertainment, and will also touch base on the most talked about news stories of the week. “Eye on New York” will also feature in-depth interviews with community leaders, notable New Yorkers and local news makers. The broadcast will have rotating hosts, depending on the topic at hand. This week’s inaugural broadcast will be hosted by Jim Rosenfield and will focus on the astonishing rise and fall of soon-to-be former Governor Eliot Spitzer. The CBS2 political team along with political insiders will analyze the developments surrounding the scandal that rocked the Empire State and will also discuss what's next for Eliot Spitzer. “Eye on New York” will also shine a community spotlight on the people of New York and hear what they have to say about the disgraced governor and the effects that this scandal has had on the state he swore to serve. WCBS-TV is part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation. ###
Amra 173 Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 They should air it against Eyewitness News Up Close. Also about damn time they do something like that.
Vlad 347 Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 I wonder if it'll be similar to the format of KABC-TV's Eye on L.A. But that is definitely something cool that they did. Its about time!
Dave Lampstein 135 Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 And who is awake at 6:30 am on a Sunday?
Vlad 347 Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 And who is awake at 6:30 am on a Sunday? Yeah 6:30am is way too early... They won't get any viewers, especially on a Sunday, the laziest day of the week, lol.
Dave Lampstein 135 Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 That's the worst part about this show (which will fail) -- it's a great idea, but the average viewer really isn't interested and those who would find it interesting aren't going to be up to watch it. At least there's TiVo, which is how I imagine a majority of New Yorkers will catch this show.
The Observer 0 Posted March 15, 2008 Author Posted March 15, 2008 You have to remember that it is a start, they killed off their late morning Sunday political shows a couple years ago in one of their mismanagement shifts. This needs to be on after Face the Nation.
Amra 173 Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 You have to remember that it is a start' date=' they killed off their late morning Sunday political shows a couple years ago in one of their mismanagement shifts. This needs to be on after Face the Nation.[/quote'] Exactly my point
tw-804 194 Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 IMO, it would be a great idea if they put it on both 6:30 and after "FTN".
civic110 20 Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 It was cool of them this week to give "NY Nightly News" a run for their money at 7 with special Spitzer newscast from 7-7:30; something WABC did not try to capitalize on.
Amra 173 Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 But I bet NY Nightly News had more viewers with Chuck Scarborough anchoring than Kristine Dumbson
slimshady760v2 0 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 in chicago CBS2's show Eye on chicago airs at 1130 am on sunday morning after the 11am news
lazynetjunkie 34 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 in chicago CBS2's show Eye on chicago airs at 1130 am on sunday morning after the 11am news You mean 10:30AM after the 10:00AM news.
McCann3 0 Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Interesting that the station has revived a name used back in the '50s, '60s and '70s for its weekly Community Affairs series.
