DMA 135
Now this could be anything, but I noticed the WNBC set looked quite odd, everything was blue, there was no color in the background. I captured a desk shot. It looks like a duratran, because you can see lit panels: It could be something like repairs or something, but it's strange. rtmclaug 69
I agree. It does look a little strange. I know that they started doing the newscasts from in front of a video screen or a chromakey wall. They could probably be making repairs to the set. I also know that WNBC is preparing to convert to a 24-hr news channel. Could this be part of the change? DMA 135
Janice is in the weather center, it could be repairs, or a refresh. I'm not expecting a brand new set or anything. Edit: Nevermind, they're still in the normal set, but the background is still. Something must have broken. Geoffrey 869
Aren't they moving into the new NBC News/MSNBC area sometime soon? Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4180-wnbc-in-temp-set/#findComment-38695 Share on other sites
DMA 135
They're apparently making their newsroom similar to the NBC News Newsroom, but not the same area. I think the problem might have been an error with the playout servers for the backdrop or something. NewsJunkie247 1
That looks pretty weird. This happened one night back in mid May, where the set was all blue like this, and then the next night it was back to normal. It was probably some kind of a glitch in the background. ProButtonPusher 230
Am I the only one here who thinks the blue kinda looks--decent? Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4180-wnbc-in-temp-set/#findComment-38715 Share on other sites
DMA 135
It doesn't look bad, just different than it usually does: Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4180-wnbc-in-temp-set/#findComment-38716 Share on other sites

alaskanews 119
Dear God, the shadows. A little back lighting would be nice... Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4180-wnbc-in-temp-set/#findComment-38722 Share on other sites
TrfRptr 3
The blue backdrop on a tight two-shot does NOT look good. From a nice wide angle it's do-able. I'll be honest while their backdrop does look amazing. I don't like the fact that it appears they're on a barge in the East River doing a newscast. IceManNYR 240
Looks like they are back to normal tonight. The background looks normal and is animated. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4180-wnbc-in-temp-set/#findComment-38743 Share on other sites
