RGSJenkins 435 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 They also got a new theme (sounds like production music) with a talent open, but same VO. Here's the open: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPq1sLJZHhI (Turn up your speakers)
IceManNYR 240 Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 I think the woman who is the voice for My9 is also the VO person for The Insider and ET. Here's a few caps. I'll post a few more from the weather and sports later.
first on fox 18 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 What's the point of My9 News? It's just a rehash of FOX5, right?
rtmclaug 70 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 What's the point of My9 News? It's just a rehash of FOX5' date=' right?[/quote'] They're pretty much a rehash, since they're both owned by the same company (News Corp.) You think these new graphics and VO could be signs of a possible switch to HD?
TrfRptr 3 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Rehash...certainly, just presented in a more pathetic way. My9 has got to be one of the worst major market channels in the country.
Jess 1116 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 I think My9 News exists almost entirely because there are a lot of issues with consolidating it with WNYW due to the whole New Jersey license thing...
caliwxdude 254 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 I think My9 News exists almost entirely because there are a lot of issues with consolidating it with WNYW due to the whole New Jersey license thing... Does WWOR's newscast originate from WNYW's Manhattan studios, or is it still produced from Secaucus? I don't see why Fox hasn't moved the newscast to 11:00pm just like they did with KCOP, rather than continue to cannibalize WNYW's 10:00pm ratings.

Vlad 334 Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I rarely watch that channel, the graphics are ok, but have more potential if it was in HD which I don't think is happening soon because WNYW itself is still not in HD, lol.
DMA 135 Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I would think once WNYW goes HD, WWOR will go HD at the same time, probably using these graphics. I noticed in the titles, in the small, glowing red letters, it says "Wake-Up News" or something.
DMA 135 Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 On a second look, I see it said Wake-Up Weather, which would make sense, instead of Wake Up News, which didn't fit in with having a 10pm newscast. In light of this, I deleted the post, since it didn't make any sense.
eyewitness_news 5 Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 IMHO it's hard to fathom, let alone recognize how My9 updated their graphics to look distinctly like Fox 5's.
anchorman 96 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 IMHO it's hard to fathom' date=' let alone recognize how My9 updated their graphics to look distinctly like Fox 5's.[/quote'] It looks almost exactly like FOX5's just with a little tweak to the coloring.
KKyuubi 0 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Actually, looks more Giant Octopus-ish to me
IceManNYR 240 Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 Ironic they spend money on new graphics but every video they play during the news casts still have a ton of drop out hits on them. It's like they took the old beta decks from FOX5 and sent them to My9. FOX5 used to have the same exact problem still I'm guessing they switched to a digital format. I find it odd none of the promos or ads played on My9 have any of those drop out lines it's just on the b-roll and taped segments of the news reports.
Weeters 1969 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I'm guessing they switched to a digital format. FOX O&O's went all digital a few years back.
EricNewsHD 0 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 IMO..the graphics look similar to WINK News in Fort Myers. Maybe WWOR has a bit more yellow, but I see a similarity between the two graphics packages.
jestbiteme 13 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 They also got a new theme (sounds like production music) with a talent open, but same VO. Here's the open: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPq1sLJZHhI (Turn up your speakers) According to 615 it's "Viper 2008"
IceManNYR 240 Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 I wonder if My9 finally upgraded to digital for playback? I'm not seeing the dropout hits on the taped reports and b-roll animation that have been around for many months.
