TrfRptr 3
Sorry if anything is repeated, but it seems a bunch of WNBC news has come out this week... First, a weekend anchor shuffle. http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/2008/10/22/2008-10-22_wnbc_is_reshuffling_weekend_anchors.html And this less-than-back-patting story about the mood of WNBC http://www.observer.com/term/30553 Needless to say, it appears WNBC is getting ready for a big transition, and by that I mean similar to what WCBS did...give the ole' boot to the "steady-veteran" team for some fresh faces. IceManNYR 240
Dianna Russini's last day at WNBC was Sunday. The Daily News said her contract was not renewed. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4575-wnbc-roundup/#findComment-42784 Share on other sites

NYNW 0
Dianna Russini's last day at WNBC was Sunday. The Daily News said her contract was not renewed. Although it's not a big difference, her last day was on Wednesday. http://nynw.net/2008/10/20/hello-goodbye-dianna-russini/ Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4575-wnbc-roundup/#findComment-42859 Share on other sites
DMA 135
I'm surprised this hasn't been posted yet: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/2008/10/24/2008-10-24_new_information_revealed_about_wnbc_cabl.html Seems pretty meh to me. I guess the best thing that comes out of it is the new studio. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4575-wnbc-roundup/#findComment-43005 Share on other sites
NewsJunkie247 1
Demarco Morgan from WTVJ in Miami and Erika Tarantal are the new weekend anchors on News 4 New York. Erika replaces Carolyn Gusoff on Weekend Today in New York alongside Pat Battle and Demarco Morgan will co-anchor the 6 and 11pm news on Saturdays alongside Melissa Russo and on Sunday, the 6pm broadcast with Carol Anne Riddell and the 11pm broadcast with Darlene Rodriguez. http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/2008/10/30/2008-10-30_demarco_morgan_and_erika_tarantal_are_ne.html Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4575-wnbc-roundup/#findComment-43226 Share on other sites
Vlad 325
Wow, what a shuffle! I hope it all works out. And more importantly, the Floridian anchors can brave the cold here lol. IceManNYR 240
So when was the last time someone out of the market came to NYC and was put on the air as news anchor on day one? Seems WNBC is doing that with DeMarco Morgan. Here's more on DeMarco Morgan, http://www.nbc6.net/meetthenewsteam/14349760/detail.html So now WCBS is more stable then WNBC in terms of the anchor lineup. NYNews 54
It's interesting how many new faces are coming out of the southern Florida market into NY. First Lonnie, then Megan Glaros, now two other reporters Morgan and one other someone else mentioned. Amra 171
Tom Llamas was the other reported. And yes, I agree that WCBS is now more stable than WNBC. What a shame. And Vickie Burns is indeed bypassing Morgan straight to the anchor chair weekends. I just hope she doesn;t decide to dump Ushery to favor Morgan. IceManNYR 240
Carolyn Gusoff was still co anchor on Saturday AM. I guess Erika starts next weekend? Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4575-wnbc-roundup/#findComment-43325 Share on other sites
IceManNYR 240
Chuck and Darlene are anchoring the late newscast. Odd they did not use Sue or just have Darlene solo. They probably brought Chuck in to anchor with Darlene because it is sweeps and they most likely had a big audience from the Giants game, so they wanted to have weekday anchors on the broadcast. TellyGenic 33
So when was the last time someone out of the market came to NYC and was put on the air as news anchor on day one? Seems WNBC is doing that with DeMarco Morgan. I believe it was when WABC brought Charles Perez up to coanchor the weekend news. How long did he last - a year tops? Vlad 325
And it seems that none of the new anchors mentioned are anchoring the newscast right now. Former WABC Reporter and Anchor Jeff Rossen is actually on tonight, I thought he was working for NBC News' Today Show, surprising to see how he is working for WNBC... DMA 135
No, he was signed to work at other NBC outlets. I've seen him on WNBC as a local reporter, Today, MSNBC, and NBC Nightly News. He's pretty good anchoring. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4575-wnbc-roundup/#findComment-43922 Share on other sites

NYNews 54
He has been anchoring on MSNBC on the weekends. And i have to agree with DMA, he is pretty good at anchoring. He doesn't come off as a snob when I watch these days, which he certainly did at WABC. He has a very interesting hybrid job at NBC, he gets the best of both worlds with national exposure as well as exposure at home, which I think is a pretty sweet deal.
